There was a very disgusting troll with a user name very similar to Jeffrey Wimberly's trying to smear his reputation.  The moderators have been very busy this morning.  The troll did come back with a second similar user name a few hours ago, but that appears to have been stopped as well.

Here is the real "jeffrey-wimberly":

Note the mis-spelling of Jeffrey and the period added to the user name.  Otherwise, the user names are identical.  The other clue is the different post count.

The moderators are on the fake Jeffrey right now as I've seen the troll's post count drop from -9 to -33 recently.

EDIT.  And now it's -36.

in a UP mug and make it STRONG (just like UP motive power Big Smile [:D]), please & thank you.

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend. I'm celebrating my Birthday today by working on smaller projects, like detailing that ceiling fan for the painting porch. FIL had a fall yesterday and went to the hospital to get checked out. They are taking him off blood thinners for reasons I won't detail here (graphic). He is back at the assisted living facility and doing OK at the moment. Glad that didn't happen while he was here.

 Happy Birthday Rob.

You shouldn't have to buy on your birthday, so I will pick up the tab this time.  There is cake, or would you rather have pie.

I won the three passenger cars, can't wait to get them.

I believe a Happy B-Day [bday] goes to Rob.

Well, the wait begins...

A friend of mine who lives up the road a ways (twenty+ miles) brought me a half sheet of decal paper and some sealer this morning. I'm in the process of making some real decals for two of my locos. I've printed and sealed them, allowed the to dry several hours and have just cut the out. In a little while I'll see what happens when I put them in the water.

Hey everone, your Canadian contingent is test driving Thanksgiving this weekend, so …and the pumpkin Pie is on me.

Also, for those celebrating Columbus Day tomorrow,

Thanks Fergie for your enquiry, as Flip and Ed have said, I’ve been too busy.  The RR scenery I did last Sunday is the first time I’ve touched the layout in about 2 ½ months.  Just now, while waiting for pages to load (still on dial up despite a DSL hub built and fibred) I removed the plastic spacers along the joint lines of the access hatches that make up about 90% of the section of blue foam mountain in question.  Now I’ve got the hatches separated and out of their positions, the sawdust/glue mix I use can dry out from underneath as well.  Any photo right now would be confusing, but here’s what the section looked like when I was through last week.

The larger rock castings are my take on faulted and folded rock (Pause to help assorted grandsons find and fix a leak in one of the air mattresses.)  These hatches are so that I can get at the passing  track and turnout hidden in the tunnel in that area.  I decided to smooth out the mountainside into a blueberry field. There will be trees at the cliff edge.

Rob!  Hope it’s been a good one.

Next Saturday is the Truro Train Show, and I think there’s one coming up in Dartmouth in November.

This room is about to become the boy’s dorm for another night, so I will say and God Bless.  I’m out of touch on particulars, but prayers for all in need of healing, comfort, and peace. Angel [angel]

Sure did. I had to set the print to fast draft. Otherwise the ink crinkles up and splits.

Jeff,

It is really you, thankfully.  A shame that someone chose to mimick you. I wonder if it's our old "manic-depressive" friend.  But in any case I'm glad you're still here, amigo.

God Bless and take care.

Evening Gang:

Rob: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!Happy B-Day [bday]Happy B-Day [bday]

Sue they have the private applicators license here also but the feds have baned the herbicides on enviromental grounds. I can still buy preemergent but it's is very expensive. What I can do is get it retail in amounts for yard applications. Now tell me that we in agriculture are going to misuse the stuff and some home owner isn't. It would cost about $1200 to treat the 11 acre field. Did you and Larry think about getting the Empire Builder? I'm looking long and hard at the Hiawatha set.

Jeff that decal looks very good.

Well I'm going to hit the sack.

Good Night All

Paul,

I have my private applicators license for Washington.  Some of the chemicals used for Christmas trees are restricted.  I agree with you that it is the retail for yard applications that has hurt us. I have a neighbor whose yard smells like roundup all the time.

Yes,  I was seriously looking at the Empire Builder, but Larry talked me out of it.  The passenger cars are just a little long for our application.  We would have to move our era into the 1950's.  We have the F7AB in NP, and have found it to be a tough loco.  Oh, well.  You can't have everything.

Is Rob's birthday party still going on?Happy B-Day [bday]Happy B-Day [bday]

Evening, Janie - I'd like a cup of hot chocolate, please - and a slice of Rob's birthday cake, too. And it looks like I'm covering for the later night crew!

I am worn out tonight - the Sunday Singles group went to Makanda, Illinois (Giant City State Park) for lunch, which was good. The lodge is an old log-style, double story one that looks like a western hunting lodge or WPA-built building. Family-style serving, with fried chicken, green beans, potatoes and white/chicken gravy, dumplings (I skipped those), and corn. Yum! Dinner [dinner] After that, I felt like taking a Zzz [zzz], but instead we went walking on a nature trail (about 2 miles long Shock [:O] - up and down hills and cliffs, and some pretty steep trails. I could've used a 'helper engine' myself. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg] Boy, was I out of shape! Dana and her daughter (and the daughter's friend who came along with the rest of the group) were taking the trail just fine, and when we got back down to the cars, the rest of the group hadn't come down for a bit, so Dana and her daughter went back around the trail, looking for them, and the others came down by then, so we hollered up to let the two of them know. Dana & daughter ended up running the 2nd half of the trail Wow!! [wow]. Boy, but I sure felt old and decrepit - need to get walking more! Dead [xx(]

Jeff, those decals look sharper with using the decal paper. On the splitting, is there an intermediate setting on the density of the printing that you could use? Then you could keep the colors stronger. But they look plenty good at this stage.

 gear-jammer wrote:

Well, I got the RR ties painted, and muted the clothing on a few figures.  I plan to get an early start on the layout in the morning.

Sue, what color did you use for the ties? And, how'd you mute the clothing - very faint black wash, dullcoat, or what? On my eBay wins that came in , I got four P2K 50' double door automobile cars (UP, with end doors). They look like the original purchaser (one before the seller) had started to build them and got frustrated and gave up. Some parts (besides the trucks and couplers) are missing, but I'd say that I should be able to get at least 3 of them in very respectable shape. And I might be able to use some styrene sheet and other pieces to get all of them in good running shape. They all have different road numbers, so I'd love to have four of those, and maybe even get one where the doors can be set open to stage an unloading with a ramp on a team track for a local car dealer. Hey, a fella can dream, right?

I still have another (Revell) Superior Bakery coming (for my kitbash project with another one and one-half kits of that). I did order in one of the Spectrum 0-6-0T saddle tanker switchers yesterday from Trainworld, but I think that and the Bakery are the only things I'm waiting on to come in for now.

I'm wanting to see about replacing some of my used turnouts (or older ones) with Pekos (code 100). I might keep my newest Atlas turnouts, but I'm wondering - which Peko's are closest to/a match for Atlas' #6 Custom-Line turnouts? I don't want to totally have to redo all the track placement. I want to get things in place and set so I can get my wiring in, some scenery & structures put up, and things far enough along that I can run trains again this Christmastime. So, anyone who can tell me which Peko (code 100) turnouts are closest to Atlas' Custom-Line #6 turnouts (Walthers numbers would be good, so I can tell if they're in a sale flyer and save some more on them)? Help!

Better head home and hit the shower. I (and most everyone) was drenched with sweat after the walk, and had to hang up my shirt, t-shirt, etc. to air out. But now I need to de-scent myself...

Good night, and God bless ya,

(Sweaty) Jim in Cape Girardeau

I couldn't eat one more slice of cake, but a large coffee is always good, please & thanks!

***Hoople, Congrats on winning those passenger cars you wanted. Now comes the wait.

***Jeffrey, the decal looks real fine. Are you more satisfied with the results than those you have made out of airmail paper?

***Der, that looks like a massive chuck of earth you have in the making there. Can't wait to see more photos of the project.

***Sue, my birthday party can go on for another 1 hour & 37 minutes...or until the end of this page I guess.Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg] Thanks to EVERYONE who wished me a happy one. Spent it alone on the ol' farm as my wife had to work tonight. She didn't remember it (yet), but she has enough on her mind with her dads fall, so that really makes no difference to me. She has been much more at ease here at home sinse her folks moved into that place, and that's wonderful.

Have a great evening all. Cowboy [C):-)] Rob

Jeff, your avatar photo is really cool. Those clouds and the sky on your backdrop looks as real as any I've seen before but it is a really small picture. It sure looks better than the last last avatar you used, lolLaugh [(-D].

Not to poke fun at you but seriously, tell me about that part of your layout (I'm assuming it's your layout) and the model train in it. Is that a P2K Alco PA? I can't really tell. Also, what can you reccomend that I do to get similar results when painting sky and clouds?

Ted: I'm sending the photo to you in a PM.

The clouds are hand painted on pieces of paper that were already cut into the shapes I wanted.

The part of the layout in the photo is where my main line curves in from the layout extension to parallel a passing track in the small yard.

The locos you see are a Proto 2000 FA-1 A-B set. Both units are powered.

Jim,  I used RR tie brown and faded it with white.  It is in the section by the stock yard.  We cut out some of the ties so that section looks aged.  I faded the figures with dust, but india ink would have been a good choice as well.  I may consider another coat.

Mark,  Congrats on the passenger cars.

der,  It is great to hear from you again.  Your fault lines look great.  It hard to imagine N scale.  Happy Thanksgiving.

Since the party is still going on,  I will have another piece of Rob's birthday cake.

I stacked firewood and pruned the butterfly bushes before the rain started.  I waited too long on the flowers, so much of the crop to too old.  Next year I will cut them all summer.  (Famous last words)  I also started some Aggro trees; planted some trees and stumps on the layout.

Sue

Hello everybody...

Any cake left? I'll have some please.

Jim CG ... You may have been out of shape for hiking, but not for eating based upon observing you in the Diner!!!! Glad you had a good day at the state park.

Paul... that Walthers Hiawatha is probably worth while. I have their Super Chief set with 2 extra sleepers. Also I have some of their Empire Builder cars that I use with other makes. My luck: I converted Con Cor Budd domes and bachmann full dome to GN EMpire Builder. Then, Walthers made the announcement about rheir Empire Builder. ..... Murphy's Law, perhaps?

I'm glad Mark is getting the UP cars.

Good Night.
