Good Morning All

Well here we are ready to sail again for places beyond the ontinental shelf and NE off Newfoundland. Might even get to see the odd occasional iceberg.

Both Musquodoboits (kitbashed 2-10-2s) got their 1st coat of paint last night and it looks very good! Now for the M.E.S.S. decals and brass numbers along with rewiring and they will be all set. I ordered some Bachmann wiring harnesses (male and Female) so they should be in when I get home.

Anyhow time to go for breakfast and start getting ready for departure

Later All

Fergie

A very early good morning all. I had to get up to get something to eat. My blood sugar level was 59, not good. I have to get it up above 75. That won't be hard.

Evening Gang: Not much going on with the railroad. I didn't get back to the weed spraying. I think that I'll have to take the push mower and set it high then use it to mow the track. I'll have to spray the grass and weeds. This rain has really caused the grass and weeds to shoot up. Besides the railroad the yard needs mowing again.

I'm so tired that I think I'll head for bed.

Evening, just coffee Cleo,

Got the last piece of main line glued down, but not much else done on the layout. Been busy with other things and grandkids [ school got out early].

Speaking of which, here's a pics of 14 of them from last summer. The tall girl in the middle is the oldest [Beth, 16] holding the youngest [KC, 7 months]

JIM CG. That pic was taken on the 4'th last summer. We had 7 grandkids and 2 daugthers and SIL's stay that weekend. I have baby set 9 of them at one time by myself.

DICK, bud you've had a time of it with the tiller. Hope those shims do the trick. Still haven't got mine, tilled to wet now, maybe Sun. or Mon.

Best get moving, got 2 kids spending night, grandma said so.

....Looks like you are haveing the same problem that Kathy has, in and out of hosp. Don't know what it is but she has the problemof not being able to flush out the system [boule ]???? system so far no cancer but who knows as yet. Hope hip ?? gets better.

...... Had to get a new comp. to replace old one because we couldn't find the WORM that had started to grow in old one. Started to e-mail all my contacts with very " dirty langauge" so I killed it and replaced it with a second hand e-tower with 98-2 and now we are back to filling up all the c-d's that I had on theold one.  I know that I need a cup of mud with choc so I will have one to go, because it is time to start dinner and empty the washer and fill the dryer.

Just received the National Census Survey in the mail, that took about 45 minutes to fill out, many demographic questions to read and check boxes etc. Anyone else in the Diner receive this yet?

JEFF, only those who have been a fireman can truly understand how back-breaking a job it is at times. I was a volunteer FF in my younger days and can remember being up all night for a fire, then rolling up thousands of feet of hose from the water source, usually a pond or lake a mile away or more. Two days ago we had a bad one in a neighboring town. The owners of a sporting goods store, with boats, firearms, fishing equipment etc., all the new stock just in, went up in flames. The nearest hydrant wouldn't work, they had to pump from a marsh until they sucked mud waiting for tankers to come from nearby towns under mutual aid. The ammo started exploding, and that is when the Chief ordered the guys out of the building.

Get to bed early Jeff....tomorrow is a new day.

Good afternoon everyone, rainy and cool here today, so we are getting some inside MRR action going. Rather quiet here in the Diner today for a Friday...where is everyboby today ?? Did someone burn lunch?

Tomorrow we have 100 spruce and fir tree seedlings arriving from the Forestry Service to plant, so I hope the rain stops long enough to avoid a mud bath.

Bogb40: Dick:  That Steaming Tender is really a great place. Always stop there after the Springfield show.  Tucker's is quite a store. I generally see Bob more at our shows in Hingham though. Everytime we go to Tuckers, we head down to Palmer and eat at the old train station, the food is great and prices are right, and when you feel a slight vibration under your feet, you know that a train is approaching the diamond.

DER JOHN: Looks like foul weather headed your way in the Maritimes for several days, I hope we don't have another Spring like last year, we had so much rain that I had to plant the seeds in the veggie garden three times due to wash-outs and rot. This year, I decided to start  some the plants indoors. I saved all of our empty yogurt containers, and I have started Zuchinni, summer squash, cucumbers, pumpkins, spinach, and winter squash in these containers. This will give them an earlier start in size when they do go outside.

MIKE: The rototiller saga goes ON!! I stopped by the place where I get all my parts and we had quite a discussion on the possible cause of my problem. There are three small shims ( look like the tinnest washers you ever saw ) that are in the rear of the shaft of the tiller section between the rear bearing ring and the end plate on the shaft. If these are worn, the shaft will have end play that can cause the dog clutch not to fully engage, or, kick back when you actually start to engage the soil with the tiller blades. Of course he ddin't have them in stock, they are due in today. So, we will give that a try. Did you get your tilling done?

Mornin' all!

Another wet one here today.  After a stormy day across Indiana Thursday, the weather should settle down as we head into the weekend. We are still watching out for a trough of low pressure moving through today that could trigger a few scattered showers mainly this afternoon. It will be a breezy and cooler day with highs only in the upper 50s. High pressure should move the clouds out later tonight.

The weekend is still looking great with plenty of sunshine and warmer readings. Highs will climb into the 70s on Saturday and Sunday. The only exception will be Saturday night. Another disturbance will be approaching from Illinois and could produce a spotty shower Saturday night. Don't cancel weekend plans as most of the daylight hours should be on the dry side.

A look ahead into next week indicates a cold front moving in on Tuesday. This will bring a chance for a few scattered thunderstorms and cooler readings by the middle of next week.

Well, I best get to work!

Jeff, hope all goes well at the docs place.

Good Morning, Zoe - I'll have some of those pancakes like Inch got, plus a cup of coffee, please. Thank, Trent! Smile [:)]

Inch, that is a passle of kids. Like Jeff said, good thing you don't have all of them at one time. Could wear a body out that way! Wink [;)]

Jeff, best wishes on good test results this morning (and very few needles). Around here, when I have to have blood tests, they just put one needle in that they connect up those vials into the back of. Nice thing is there's only one needle stick. Not-so-nice thing is, there's one needle stick. Shock [:O]Wink [;)]

It's kind of cool this morning in Southeast Missouri - 53 F and 74 percent humidity. Supposed to get to 71 (F) this afternoon. Slight chance of showers by evening or early Sat. a.m.

Today at work, we're supposed to have some kind of meeting for all the people who help cover our on-call nights and weekends (that includes me) at 11 a.m. and then at 12, the Center is supposed to be covering our lunch at Olive Garden. Which has left us all wondering what the (bad?) news will be, if they're going to pick up the tab.Confused [%-)] Probably a year or more ago, they stopped having lunch at our monthly staff meetings, so this is not at all the usual. So we're a bit nervous. And I may not even get to go to the lunch, since who'd cover any crises when we're all out of the building - Admin.? (Right!...) Guess who gets to stay behind...Angry [:(!] Well, not much use griping, since I doubt that admin.'s going to change their spots, so to speak.

Well, I got good news and bad news yesterday from our LHS/club member. Good news is that the MRR stuff I ordered on Monday is in. Bad news is, the stuff I had on back order also came in - $$$! Oops [oops] Might be a bit thin in the wallet until next payday (or two). I'll go pick it up on Saturday morning after laundry is done.

'bout time for me to go. Hope everyone stays dry (except for those in TX and FL who are in need of some more rain) and gets some sunshine today.

Blessings and prayers,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Good Morning All,

45 and rainy this morning, but the trees are budding and the leaves are starting to sprout. The world here is gradually starting to turn green again. I'll have a regular and one of Bills' donuts please.

Inch - I know what you mean about not getting much done but getting sthings figured out. Sounds like your track planning and mine are from the same book. Got little done last night, but did figure out a couple of sidings and got a better idea of how my second factory will work out. I haven't used filler putty for years (since I quit doing custom model cars in fact) but I'm impressed with the Squadra green stuff. works nicely.

Bob - we hope the w**k session at the club went well. My mom told me that as you develop a new routine and get back out with friends you'll be able to start to focus on the good memories and better times. I know though it's been years now that a day doesn't go by that I don't remember my dad, but now when I see something that reminds me of him I can say "yeah he would have liked that" instead of concentrating on the loss.Remember we're all with you here too.

The closest I came to a muscle car was my straight 6, 4 speed 67 Camaro in black primer which I ended up rolling over a stone wall one icy winter night. Most of my time has been spent in small imported sedans and smaller sports cars. Still it's a kick when they are working right and the weathers right and the getting there is a smuch fun as the arrival. I guess it all carries over anyway as in the shop right now 90% of the cars are 1600cc Ford 4cyl based with a smattering of 1 litre and a few 1100cc Coventry Climax race motors from the 50's. Having said that, the later 4 valve twin cam engines will still push the Formula Atlantic cars over 150mph on the straight bits. That's plenty fast thank you.

Speaking of cars time to get back to it we have lots happening this weekend.  CUL,J.R.

Morin, I'll have a short stack, sausage and an irish coffee Zoe, kinda cool out.

Did have some thunderstorms yesterday afternoon, didn't amount to much though, we've still got less than an inch so far. Cloudy with a chance of a sprinkle, high bout 60 today. Clearing tonight with a low in the 40's.

#2 son called yesterday an told us, grandkid #23 is going to be a girl. At least thats what the sonagram says. Hopefully this will be the last one for them [and us], they have 4 boys already.

Got some time in the train room yesterday, not a lot of progress, but got a couple problems worked out on the track design. The last of the main lines will go in today, then I can put in some power drops. Plan to start building my new control panel for the mains, hope to get it done and installed this weekend, so I can start wiring it up next week. Thats all in between grandkids, yard mowing and honey-do chores

Best get ta chores, hope ya'll has a gooden and stay dry

Good morning to all, and I haven't been to bed yet, where did Thursday go?

PAUL: Sorry to hear about the loss of life in that Tornado at the border....those storms have to be terrifying to people who experience the horror and terrible loss. With Global Warming, I fear we are going to see these storms come further north and even into Canada with greater frequency.

Long day, a good deal of work done outside, so I am hitting the sack....see you guys at breakfast..

Evening Gang: I have got to get the 7.5 diesel switcher running. I had to haul the grass clippings from the back yard out with a wheel barrow. I usually use the railroad. It took 5 barrow loads to get it hauled. Now we have to mow again as the racking turned up all the places that the mower missed. I also have to sharpen the blades on the tractor mower. That's a pain as it is a belly mower and hard to get to.

Dick: The tornado hit along the Tex Mex border. Four of the dead were on the U.S. side and the other 3 on the Mexican side. Both towns were very badly torn up. They just don't get tornadoes down there so were unprepared. They don't have a warning system like we have and no shelters to go to. All in all a real disaster for  them. Some familys had to spend the night in there cars because all the shelters were full.

The weather here has been real nice. It started out cool and windy but warmed up and was calm this afternoon. After I got the grass clippings hauled I started hitting the  weeds and grass on the railroad with Round Up. I had some trouble with the sprayer clogging up so tomorrow I'll have to clean it out. Right now I'm going to hit the sack. I've had a lower back pain most of the day and really am worn out.

Hi guys,

Thought I'd come in and see what's for dinner.

It's been a really bad past 3 weeks for me since my wife's passing. This is the first day that I've actually felt half decent- slept a few hours and I feel like eating for a change. I really appreciate your support and emails, has helped a lot.

Neal: I do hope much better for you, my prayers are with you.

Those Fajitas do look mighty good, since I've never mooched, or had to pick up a tab yet, I'll have some of that on Trent also.

Dick:  That Steaming Tender is really a great place. Always stop there after the Springfield show.  Tucker's is quite a store. I generally see Bob more at our shows in Hingham though.

Inch: So did you get any work done on the trains today?

Philip: Didn't know you liked the muscle cars? Had quite a few myself, not sure if I liked the LS6 Chevelle or the 340 Demon or 340 GTS better. The Chevelle was the fastest but they're quite rare even in their day.

Jeff: I see you've been rather busy, I actually started back to work this past week, trains kinda been put on a back burner these days.

Hoople: Think that "brat" brother may be jealous of the trains? Have you tried to let him play with an older/ cheap loco? Couldn't hurt, If not , you'd better keep that mountain under wraps.

Colby: Quite a little end of world flick you found

Gary and Ed: wish you a safe trip

There's a work night at the club tonight, I feel good enough to loose myself in some scenery work.

Have a great evening, thanks again,

Those fajita's do sound good.  I'll have that and a Moxie please Chloe.  Thanks!

Yeah, you guys saw the map.  I'm getting wet.  Thats OK though.  I put out some grass seed the other day, so it's all good.

Trent, good to hear you're still with us.  Just remember, if the worst does happen, just click your heels together and repeat, "There's no place like home, There's no place like home".

Hi Zoe, since Trent's got the tab, I'll have a Dr. Pepper and those fajita platters that PC likes.Dinner [dinner]

Trent, good to hear you're still around down there in the 'Alley'!Shock [:O] You have a cellar on your place, I hope? Glad to hear you're inspired on your MRR'ing. There've been a lot of neat pics of the work (sorry Paul...) everyone's been doing on their layouts.

Still need a clear space on the table to get to my soldering (I know, my bad...).Banged Head [banghead] It's frustrating to me 'cause if I could get the wiring in, I could at least get started on ballasting and  some scenery. Tonight I'll try to get the table cleared off. Yeah, that's what I'll do.

No major rain here, but from PC's map, looks like Inch and Jerry are probably getting some rain, and PC's not far behind, either. Good day to head for the train room, huh? Yeah!! [yeah]

Well, back to the paperw**k for me. My lunch hour is about an hour away, I'd say.  See everyone later!

Blessings,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Chow time, think I'll have cheese burger, onion rings and a barley pop, Zoe. That won't get to deep in Trents pocket.

We've had a couple showers come through so far, now the suns out. Still calling for a chance of thunderstorms later. Better chance is over towards PC, than here.

Did get into the train room some this morning, figure on some more this afternoon. Still got a couple things to get done first. Catch ya'll laters

 Howdy all!

Neal- You are in my thoughts and prayers!!

Tues. night lost power @ 12:30 am and didn't get it back til 10;30 am.

During all this a "freight train" roared through the back yard. Sounded like a funnel cloud as I grew up in Kansas and know the sound. It picked up a tree 1&1/2 miles away at the Air base and dropped it on a car. No other damage here.

Love the pics and as soon as I get a little extra $ gonna start on the expansion of the Lingenfelter Div. of the Santa Fe. I'VE BEEN INSPIRED!!!
