Large diet coke please Chole. Thanks

Evening all Just got in from my LHS and with a little arm twisting (wasn't much ) I picked upp the (Williams ) Virginian Set (new for 2007) It comes with 2322 Trainmaster,6462 NYC Gondola, 6464-275 State Of Maine Boxcar, 6536 M&SL Covered Hopper With inter changeable loads, 6464-375 Central of GA. Boxcar, 6415 Sunoco Triple Dome Tankcar, & a 6427 Virginian N5c Caboose.

Then if that wasn't enough (this is what I really went for) My MTH Rail King 60' Santa - Fe Passenger cars came in (I ordered the whole 8 cars back in Augest ( glad I already paid for them because of the above mentioned) there going to hook up to my 2343 & 2243 sets I have. Now just need to get somewhere to run them as my layout is still in the planning staged. Have to get room finished first but now I'm motivated.

Good evening gents,  a brisk day out today, but with clear skies, I just had to get outside. 32F now and headed for a low of about 25F. But just wait until next week guys.......there is a large pool of very cold air headed south from Hudson Bay, Canada, and we will get some of the coldest air of Winter, and this time, I think it will hang around a while.

LEE: Good guess because millions of years ago before the Andes mountains rose to present day heights, the entire Brazilian rain forest was indeed an inland lake.

However, the one that I was referring to was the Laurentian/Great Lakes area. It was a huge area all covered with an inland lake. And, they have long felt that there was a very large waterfall somewhere under the present Great Lakes, but Geologists could not find.....until now!! It is under Lake Huron. New underwater mapping science and equipment allows the bottoms to be mapped with much greater detail. So, they found a huge waterfall under this lake. This inland sea eventually broke through it's natural boundaries as the last Ice Age was retreating due to all the melt water. Trillions of gallons of water carved deeper channels as the water poured towards the Atlantic, carving out the St. Lawrence river. All this fresh water dumped into the North Atlantic had another effect too. It halted the great conveyor of ocean currents that circulate around the globe, which ultimately plunged much or Europe into a mini Ice Age.

JEFF:How does the new loco loco run with now that it is out of the repair barn?

FLASH !!!!! A northbound commuter train has smashed into a work crew on the tracks north of Boston in the town of Woburn, Ma. Two workers were killed and 4 were seriously injured!!! The work crew was replacing ties on one set of  double tracks. The work crew was from a company in New Hampshire. This appears to me at this point to be a case of real bad communication. Totally preventable. Some passengers were taken to the hospital also as the train came to sudden stopsending people flying. The work truck on the tracks was crushed under the locomotive. No derailment.

The new loco is running just fine now. That's bad about the injuries and fatalities involved in that accident. Thank God there wasn't a derailment, otherwise it would have been a lot worse. I wonder who's gonna be the scapegoat on this one?

I don't know Jeff, but you can bet people from both companies are scrambling to CTA right now. The sharks are already on the scene I'll bet, and OSHA is there also.

JEFF, as if todays RR accident up here in the Northeast isn't bad enough, a 43 year old mother, her daughter, and two of her daughters friends, all being driven to High School, tried to beat a  CN coal train in Marissa, Illinois, 40 miles SE of ST. Louis.  The mother and two of the girls are dead, the 4th is injured. Again we ask "WHY"?? What is WRONG with people? How important is it to get to ones location on time as compared to the trajedy of death....and also the horror that the Engineer has to life with the rest of his/her life?

Do you also realize that all those guys who still have dial up service, i.e Der John, etc.  are screaming at you guys for the time it takes to download all the features? I have Hi-speed Cable, no big deal...but I hear a bunch of guys and gals outside the Diner ready to string up a few people inside.

Good evening everybody: Chloe I’ll have a medium JR Regular please, and a slice of the “sweetened with Splenda®” pumpkin pie that’s left over in back of the fridge. Thanks RT!

JR: …What colours are you using now for the “urban river”? Any dark greens in there with the browns? I find the shading off into deeper water the trickiest to get right…I’m enjoying seeing acres of wood and foam slowly disappearing in favour of more realistic scenes.  What fascinates me is the way parts of scenes, while staying within the original design concept, sort of “evolve” into shapes and spaces that were never planned in detail, but just seem to “come together” to be better than my mental image when I planned the layout.  I got my two bits of sea poured this afternoon; the cove has turned out to be quite a turbulent sea.  All far too soft to fiddle with yet, but colouring the wavy plaster to show the colours of the sea floor is going to be interesting.  I’ve never used poured plastic “water”, and don’t like the idea for moving bodies of water anyway.  I go for plaster with some “motion” to it, paint that, and add gloss medium in several coats, working in texture.  For this cove, there will be breakers, I’ve got some WS Flex Paste for that.  I’m toying with the idea of chucking one of those mini whisks into the power drill, and beating some air into the Flex Paste to get a foam to represent spray.

Ryan: Good story about the school crossing guard.  The fines for speeding in school zones in Nova Scotia have just doubled!  Feels a bit like the later stages of a Monopoly game. (Not that I intend to make a habit of speeding in school zones, but our local one is sometimes difficult to remember as the schools to which it refers are off the road, and so not “there” as a reminder.  No crossing guards anywhere either.

Jeremy: Welcome back, January is a third over already, so you are getting your wish, I guess!  I have a mortgage to renew before March 1st., so am not wanting the time to rush too much.

Jeff:  Sign - Ditto [#ditto] your

Thank God there wasn't a derailment,
…that would have been far worse.

PC:

You all realize that Scott is going to go down in history as the originator of the "Ditto Tree"!
…Not so fast there, who was it that dittoed his ditto, thus making a “tree”…hm….Whistling [:-^]

Dick:

Do you also realize that all those guys who still have dial up service, i.e Der John, etc.  are screaming at you guys for the time it takes to download all the features?
…Well actually Dick it’s not the trees and so on that take the time, it’s the large file size photos.  Folks, if you can spare a thought for dial-up users, and take the time to adjust the size of your photo files before uploading to photobucket or whoever, it would be a great favour.  Those sites now accommodate quite large files, on the assumption that any civilized user is on high speed by now.  We less than civilized yobs who have Aliant as their isp have to suffer.  Dick, it’s Aliant I’m screaming at. “Aliant, Here For You” NOT

Rant over, I’d better finish off that pie and get out of here.

Goodnight all, and God Bless. Prayers for all in need of healing, comfort (remembering the families involved in those two tragedies Dick mentioned), and peace.Angel [angel]

Good morning all,

Everything on my tab today,

Yesterday I received the nomination for Coast Guardsman of the year.  Between now and May I'll be competing against almost 45,000 service members for the Enlisted Person of the Year.  I doubt I get it considering the competition is pretty tight, but I feel pretty good about getting the nomination. If I do win, I get a field promotion to E7.  Wahoo!

Lee: OUTSTANDING! Now if you get the promotion that's more money, which equals more MRR stuff. Have you been on any interesrting boats lately? I guess that the shipping season is winding down now. Altho, with the mild weather it may not wind down at all. The new Mac won't get to do it's thing this winter. I know that the crew was looking forward to showing there stuff.

It's time to punch in so I'll be back later.

Good morning fellers!

Chloe set me up a bowl of Kashi Go-Lean Crunch and some fresh blueberries. Oh, and a tall cup of fresh JOE! Thanks!

You know, as I drive into work every morning the sunrise is always behind me, and as I get to the top of the first high hill out of the neighborhood I can see the first glimmer of light peaking over the horizon. The orange, ochre, and red hues are just spectacular. Sunrises and sunsets are one of my favorite photo opportunities too.

And now for today's weather forecast here in the Piedmont...

No snow here, but in the mountains around Asheville they got some last night I heard!

Der John, it is amazing how many people speed around school zones, like they are in complete oblivion of their surrounds.

Congratulations Lee!

Hey Attaboy, how about this for the ditto tree....
