If someone wins the caboose for a reasonable price and it arrives in the condtion as described then it's not a bad deal.......even if the seller is acting a bit like a moron. If the caboose is below the quality described, than the buyer can roast him on the feedback.
Guys,
Caution is warranted, but you don't have to give up on ebay. While I lost money on one auction, I've won
An Atlas SCL U36C for $55 new. (this smooth runner retails for $110)
A P2K E7 for $49 new.
A P2K E8 for $58 new. (hard to find ACL in the black "Bumblebee" scheme)
An out of production Walthers HO Car Shop still new in the box: $56
A P2K GP9 for $48 new.
A long out of production Bachmann Metroliner car in good condition $22
I just won a P2K E7 shell for $9! It's in L&N colors but 91% alcohol and my airbrush will render it in SCL colors not too long after I receive it.
Though I support my LHS with a lot of my purchases, ebay overall, has been a good option for me as far as certain types of locomotives and hard to find items.

That's the funniest sad thing I've read in a while. Sad but true, I guess.

Have any of you looked at his other auctions? None of them have pictures: Items for Sale by ral5829
I don't think it's Mr. SD45; at least he had a camera.
I guess he's going to learn the hard way. Maybe we should flood him with questions about all of his items.

Now that's an idea I'd have fun with! Good one.

I never bid on anything that does not have a picture!
AndI hate when the shipping cost is outrageous. Obviously to make money off of the shipping costs!
Your right, no pictures what so ever on any of his items.
He is also SCREAMING!
Now he's posted an ad for a hammer WITH a picture !!! No - wait - it's a picture of one similar to his, but his is older and has a different handle than the one pictured !!!!!! What a riot. I can only hope he makes enough money on his ebay sales to go buy a cheap digital camera.

He's also selling a Genesis SD70 and he's got 8 bids on it, and he admits it has damage! Does anyone know what he means by the "small tab on the low nose part of the hood broke off?" Oy vey.
P.S. Cool new post dialog on this forum.

The tab holding the whole thing together! LOL! "I was trying to take this engine apart..."
Or maybe one of the steps? either way, a picture would help immensely. I wonder if he's heard "A picture's worth a thousand words."?
ooh, yeah. I see what you mean about the post thing... it even works in Firefox now

Well on a more positive note...........
Just got my P2K E7 shell that I won on Ebay. For $9.00 I can't complain.
Except for the lift rings on the roof (those pesky buggers break if you sneeze on them, LOL!) it's in excellent shape. The seller was good about mentioning the damaged rings.
It's a very easy fix since metal replacement rings are available for just a few dollars. I don't have my beadblaster set yet, so I'll be giving it a 91% alcohol "bath" and prepping it for SCL "Bumblebee" colors.
Peace
