Hey everyone, I been reading the posts but haven't had a chance to write. Things are a little up in the air for the move, Tom may be getting a transfer and if it goes through we'd have to move to Conneticut and it would be a little far to commute from NH(ha ha). So we're waiting for the interview to deceided.

George,  We tried to use # 8's.  Peco finially introduced the #8, which we used a few of in the yard area.  Larry liked the fact that you can buy live frogs and don't need to wire them live.

I had a patient today who races dragsters. He was heading out after his appointment.

Only had to rip out about 40 feet of track and 3 tunouts so far. The biggest problem is the ATLAS Frogs keep HOPING up from wth weight of the bigger units. Every picked up a BRASS engine, they are heavy and do move the outer rails on a curve and beat up the frogs.

That picture was in an old scrap book my mom made for me. I went on to run other cars in the South but enjoed the Northern racing more.

George,

Sorry about the retracking.  Thinking of redoing ours makes me tired, not to mention the amount of track that you have.  It will be a while until all of our track is down because it is like a puzzle.  My bridge seems to work better that I could have dreamed.

Fun picture.  I'll bet that jogs lots of memories.

Hope that your operating session goes well on Thursday.

Sue I am doing NOTHING. We sold the 1989 260e, Selling the 1987 300SDL, hope to close on one of our houses we are selling, been trying to do that since December.

I got hooked into being a rep for Ferrari Owners Club in the S.C. area I live. This is going to take a LOT of time I think.

Train wise, I tore out all the track and turnouts that where not perfect and put in all new. Phasing out the Atlas and going 100% Wlthers code 83, when I can get them. Added 16 more passenger cars just got the #505 Kadees for then today. IF that is IF Thursdays operating session goes well I will start on some real scenery instead of mock-ups and lumps of foam.

Did a GOOD, BAD on the railroad I have and the results was I should have went BIGGER and used the full 2,100 sq ft of basement and the project would have went faster.

As far as cars, How does this grab you!!! (Sorry, the site would not let me use the normal img command.)

Lisa,  Every step will get you closer to the end result.  After all the time that I had off in January, I am having trouble finding time to get started on our taxes,  everyone keeps calling me to work.  Maybe I will get started on Thursday.  Are you still dealing with snow?

Sue, We haven't been able to do anthing about the outside of the house or yard but we are working steadly on the inside. We just got our MA state tax return(Tom works in MA) and now we can get the tub replaced, we looked into having it either covered or refinished but were told that neither would work with fiberglass tubs so replacing it is the only choice, the realter assures us that we will more than make up the difference when we sell so I guess it's money well spent(I hope). I hope everyone is doing well and I'll check back in later.

Hi all,

We had a busy weekend on the layout.  Larry finished weathering a cattle car and I put him to work making trees while I planted them. There are still lots to go.  I planted 40 trees and didn't make a dent.

Philip, I see that you are modeling 1920 era. Fun research.  Hope that your wife is feeling better.

Lisa, Is you weather letting you get your home ready to sell?

George,  Are you managing to hit any train shows, or just car events?

Later, Sue

Thanks guys!

Think she might have cracked a rib coughing last night, but she's feeling better this morning.  The docs are still figuring out all the right meds, so hopefully that will get worked out and it'll help even more.

Its really all in His hands though.

Phil,

I will pray for all that you asked just to make sure we're covered.  I'm sure He will answer them.  Do your best to take care of your wife.

I'm a bit concerned.

My wife went to the doctors today.  She doesn't like doctors so she usually puts it off, ya know.  Anyways, when she was in FL. a couple weeks ago she had a real bad cold.  She was quite ill.  Well, she's been back a couple weeks now and the cough hasn't gone away.  The fever comes and goes, but it's lower.  Other then that, she feels fine.  I finally convinced her to see the doc about the cough.  She came back and told me they said she has Whooping cough, and that it's potentially fatal!  They said it's the worst for the first two weeks, and we're past that, but still!  Then they perscribed a bunch of medicine for her, quarentined her, ordered her to bedrest, and sent me to the pharmacy.  I get there and found out that she can't take the antibiotics for this thing because of an interaction with one of her muscular dystrophy meds, it causes this nasty side effect of stopping peoples hearts.  So now she can't take the medicine that makes her better!

I'd like to ask that any of you who know the Great Healer to please pray for wisdom and guidence for her doctors so that they can find the right meds for her.  You could even go big and ask that He'd just heal her.....wouldn't hurt my feelings any!  This is truely in His hands!

Thanks!

Lisa - Great news for you and your family.  Everyone, including your cyber-friends can breathe a sigh of relief.

Sue - Nice subtle job on the Herefords. I looked at an older shot and it looks like the white is toned down a bit.  Nothing like an earthy Hereford.

All - After sitting idle since I readied it in September, the snow blower started after the 3rd pull.  Unfortunately it faced a losing battle on the snow/sleet/ice.  This was a tough one, especially my commute - normally 40 minutes turned into 2 hours on an unending icy washboard.

GREAT NEWS!  This thread has been kind of quiet for the last few days, and I think a number of us were getting concerned.  So, time to celebrate.

As for the snow, well, it will melt, and we need the snowpack runoff to maintain our water supply later in the year.  I actually had to use my snow shovel for the first time all season on Wednesday.  I was hoping to get through the winter without it, but I guess I'll just have to enjoy the skiing instead.

Lisa,  It will be so great for you to have your warm space.  I am sure that it will be a lot of work, but well worth it.  We all will look forward to your pictures.

Jim,  As for the weathering of my herefords.  How is this?

You all have been hearing me talk about my rickety bridge for quite some time.  Finally, here it is.

Jim: ONly Leigh Vally Connection is 16 passenger  cars I just purchaed. I meet Barry at Amelia Island along with some other peoplw, Bobby and Donnie Allison, Brock Yates, Brian Redman, Bob Snodgrass, owns Brumos Porche and Brumos Racing. My business afords me the chance to meet these peole and go to dinner and talk about the car hobby. One of the most Interesting people I have meet and talked with is Dennis Gauge.

I have a few of there picrues on the site but do not really push that, Our customers like us because we do not cash in on them like some do. If you are a Nascar person we get a lot of things sent to us by Kyle and Richard Petty. They are two very nice down to earth prople.

Sorry for the rambling but this is one of the few points of the business I like anymore..

Jim: That's whats left of an old Walther's loco maintenance facility. It's been damaged several times over the years because of moving from one country to another but still looks good.

I've been working on an E7 the past couple of days and it's almost complete. Here are some pics.

First, with the basic flat white paint from yesterday.

Second, with the flat black trim added and the decals applied.

Third, this decal was the hardist one to apply.

I still have to apply the finishing touches such as grime and rust.

Jeffrey - Nice decaling work.  The car barn that the GP40 is exiting - scratchbuilt or a kit?

George - I visited your website  - what an impressive roster!  Do you have a connection to the Lehigh Valley?  I live just 40 miles west of Allentown but spent a fair amount of time there in my younger days.  BTW, love the cars....I have a '66 Porsche all wrapped up for the winter but about now I'm aching to get it out on the road.  I try to do all the work on it myself because otherwise it's just too expensive. Do you really know Barry Maguire?  Car Crazy and Victory by Design are favorite Speed Channel shows of mine.

Lisa - Continued prayers for your husband and you.

Sue - How are those Herefords surviving the weathering?  Sorry, that just tickled my funny bone.

Besides trying to stay warm both outside and in my basement, I've completed the ensemble of Vollmer's Neuffen Station and Karlsbad Passenger Platform.  These are German kits of German prototypes, but with some minor changes they work well for my location and era.  This is the first I've worked with high-quality plastic kits - I was pleased with how everything fit really well and got me the look I'm after.  One of these days I'll post a picture. Hope everyone is warm and dry - or cool and wet, depending on your locale.
