I do like the new forum. It certainly bumped up our traffic levelBig Smile [:D]. However, it still doesn't feel like "home" but that'll take some time.

The quick reply box was nice, especially for those with dial-up since you didn't have to load a seperate page to post. I don't mind not having it, tho.

I see some of you took your stars with you Wink [;)] EDIT- apparantly the "highlight" feature doesn't work.

and now, a smiley test

Not only is my signature AWOL, now my password won't work Sad [:(]  So I had to create a new ID in order to access the forums. Sad [:(]

Has anyone figured how to change your screen name once reregistered? Profile update doesn't seem to have anyway to do it.

Well it looks better but that's about it. I see no differences except it was a real pain to reregister. The buttons have all changed. Well if you put sugar on **** you can make all sorts of people happy it seems.
I do notice one thing though. The happiest people seem to be those who get paid or showcased by MR. Hmm, coincidence I am sure.

Oh well, same old same old.

To post images just paste the URL in between [ img ] and [ / img ], (without the spaces), like so:

For links just type in or paste the URL in your text - it will show up as a link in your post. You can check it with the "preview" before you post.

The avatar seems to have to be no more than 100x100 pixels and is copied directly from your computer.

The signature picture seems to have a bug.

Wait till you want to post a picture, so far I cant figure out what the coding is, [img] or [*img] or ??? the fact that i have to REMEMBER what any coding is and type the whole enchilada in POs me big time compared to the one button method of the previous format.

Having to remember any code reminds me of using DOS back in the stone age , I HATED DOS...!!!

   Have fun with your trains

I like the looks of the new site and the forums but still perturbed that some of the content of the site I was quite dependant (addicted to) is now only available with a subscription to the pertinent magazine. Wish there was some way for a small fee ($5-10 yr) it could be accessable without a mag subscription- some of us don't have time to sit and read through a magazine (working 2 jobs-coaching youth sports, etc)

Upon inspection     it seems that the majority of the events did not migrate. I don't know if organizations having events should immediately repost thier events or if trains.com can do something.  There are some states that have some events listed, of course, I have no way of knowing how they got there.

But another thing is that there are all these cool colors you can use.  I suppose you can use different colors to reflect your mood.  Whatever, you can make the forums more colorful by using these new colors and other options.

                                      SO,  USE THEM COLORS, PEOPLE

Woo-hoo!

Back in the saddle again!... FINALLY!!!

I couldn't check my personal e-mail at work, and I was just now able to finally get to the computer and go through the re-registration process.

New website looks cool, but it will take some getting used to...

Well, I made it back unscathed.  Now, like the rest of you, I have to figure out how all the new bells and whistles work.  At least I'll have something to help pass the time while I'm at work.  It can get quite quiet at the reception/security desk of a nursing home at night. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

I do like the new text formatting options -- far simpler than before. Thumbs Up [tup]

I am curious to see how the PM functions work; but, alas, there usually aren't that many of you online in the middle of the night. Sigh [sigh]

I do miss having the ability to see a list of the last topics I created or replied to.  I used to use that to see if any new posts were made since my last visit.

But overall, a painfree change-over.  Bergie and his team deserve an all-expenses-paid vacation for all their hard work.  Perhaps round-trip tickets for the Silver & Blue class on VIA Rail's The Canadian.  Or Easterly Class on The Ocean. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

to Bergie and others at MR & trains.com ... excellent work , the forum looks great and the switchover was fast (actually happened in the predicted timeframe!!!) . re-registering was an easy process for me so i'm happy Approve [^]

the new look is great . i miss the quick reply window but the <123> at the bottom of the page makes up for it , i really like having arrow keys to scroll through the pages of replies on a forum .

i can't figure out how to insert an link to another web page . i clicked on the create link icon and paste in the URL , hit OK and nothing happens . wierd . maybe i need a browser update (running firefox and the smileys work ok)

keep up the great work !

You may have to clear the cashe in IE.  Try that and see if works.  I think this site was written with coding that works best in IE (ugh!).  Actually just use Firefox, it is a much better browser anyway! Wink [;)]Big Smile [:D]

On the Mac side, I just got an update for Firefox, and it is running like lightning!  Way faster than Safari which is way faster than IE........

Jarrell,

You're better off with Firefox anyway.
