I've got some Marklin Z-Gauge in my collection, basically one of the small starter sets with the 2-6-0 tender loco and also the battery-powered starter set that was released a year or so ago - I bought this because it was cheaper than buying the loco on its own. I've also got the extension set for the battery set - has 3 extra freight cars, mains power transformer and more track. Marklin is just a bit too expensive for me to collect in large quantities, and why on earth are they still turning out 3-rail AC-powered HO trains years after the rest of the world went to 2-rail DC? I guess someone must be buying it! Mind you, the new Trix "Big Boy" is stunning - I saw one in a hobby store this summer, it has full DCC controlled sound and looks great too. (For those who didn't know, Trix and Marklin are part of the same company - Marklin release 2-rail versions of their models under the Trix label)

I have a really nice 4-6-2 with tender that my son brought me from Germany unfortunately, it will never be used as my layout is DC and the locomotive is AC.
If any Marklin people may have an interest in it, contact me at;

I've been collecting Marklin since 1963, unfortunitly, I suffered a house fire on July 5th, and most of my Marklin was destroyed, I am looking for info on a TM800 steam engine, I got it on ebay, and can't even figure out how to get the housing off, It runns great, but could use some oil, any info would be greatly appreciated ...

Emeraldisle,
I have run Marklin for 30+ years. I recently dismantled a large Marklin layout (last month). I am now switching over to American 2 rail stuff, but will always have a spot in my heart for Marklin gear. I think that the quality of Marklin gear is fantastic, My only complaint is that there isn't enough US prototype...On my last layout I was running Marklin locos with American freight cars. I finally decided to switch over completely. I would be happy to e mail some pics of the layout if you are interested.

I have some Marklin trains. I'd consider myself a collector even though it's not much. It's the older stuff that interests me, especially all of those amazing trains from the prewar era. What I have now consists of early postwar 3-rail tinplate HO items. I have an SK 800 Class 06 type streamlined 4-6-4, an 0-6-0T, 2 CIWL coaches, baggage car, transformer car and Esso tank car. It may be a small collection, but vintage Marklin items are rather hard to come by over here.
