Biggest joke I've ever seen on ebay
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, June 20, 2006 9:26 AM
I almost sent the guy a message, but there's probably somebody who will buy it. Check it out:

I've seen WAY worse than that. About the only thing wrong is the "electronic" instead of "electric" train. At least he's honest about missing one of the trucks.

Wow! The attached truck is even in the wrong position, notice the horn hook coupler is under the car. Does this guy have a clue??

No, to be the biggest e-bay joke ever it must fall into one of the following categories:

1. Contain a supernatural image of the Virgin Mary.
2. Be made of grilled cheese.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

Hey Jeff It was more of a rhetorical question, but you are right. This seller is quite possbily the most ill prepared I have seen in a long time. That item would not even get pickup up at a flea market or garage sale for a penny!

Guys,

Give it a stinking break...We don't need to know about every piece of junk on eBay...

I hope Trains will go the route Atlas did and BAN all linking to eBay... These threads are useless, meaningless, wastes of bandwith..

Plus I'll go for bonus points here: How many of you people who rip into "rivet counters" every chance they get are the first to fly into one of these threads and rip somebody on eBay for listing junk?

The catch phrase there is the word "vintage". Vintage can either mean old and "classic" or old and...anything but classic.

I agree! Is it that hard for people to give it a rest? We don't need to see every ebay blunder, and half the time the sellers are members of this very forum!

My favorite ebay joke was a guy who put an old guitar strap for sale, pointing out it was a "VINTAGE GUITAR STRAP just like THE ONE JIMI HENDRIX USED AT WOODSTOCK!!!!!" and had a pic of JH at Woodstock using the same kind of strap. It was a nice leather strap, I could see it going for like $30 but because people thought it was THE Jimi strap, the top bid was like $10000.

I don't like the price the seller is selling them at... but then again they don't know anything about trains especially calling them "electronic" when they are just immobile objects.

Also the description seems they were made for a 6 year old... "OIL TRAIN"...??

I was gonna say, lighten up, just cause he's not a train fan he doesn't have to know anything about 'em, but...after reading "The big wheel thing under the train" in this auction... that's just funny.

"ITS IN A GOOD WORKING CONDITION

THE TRAIN MAKES NOISE WHILE MOVING

THAT EXPLAINS THE BIG WHEEL THING UNDER THE TRAIN!"
Wow, all caps, and it makes noise while moving...........Who wants to bet that the wheel (track cleaning car?) has no effect whatsoever on the sound? It'd be funny, for sure.....
Don't worry guys, these ebay jokes are really good for a quick laugh!

Hi There;
Actually " THE BIG WHEEL THING" is not a track cleaning car. The wheel is filled with plastic pellets that rattle around & supposedly make a chuffing sound.
I remember when these things came out Mid60's. Poor mans steam sound.[:D].

Easy solution: Just don't open any thread with ebay in the title. And as far as being a waste of bandwidth, are you paying the bill? Probably not, huh? And I don't think one needs to be a "rivet counter" to see the humor in a piece like the subject of this thread. Lighten up, Francis.

I'll lighten up when people here GROW UP.... Deal?

The maturity level of some threads here is lacking...

Of course, if somebody gave you a toilet plunger and you put it on eBay as a hurricane wind-proof hat because you use outdoor plumbing, would you like everybody who knows what it is to laugh at you? (although that would be pretty dang funny).

I mean seriously people... What purpose does this thread serve?

You post a link to a seller, obviously ignorant about trains, just to say "gee what a moron", "he doesn't know what he's talking about", "he writes like a 6 year old..".. Give me a break.

Take a look at the color of that covered hopper. If that ain't cheese, what is?

Come to think of it, I made a grilled cheese sandwich that looked a lot like that car a few years ago. I should have take a picture. The resemblance was uncanny. [:D]

I think this person goes to garage sales and buys a bunch of "stuff" and puts it up for sale on e-bay.

Best seller is the one that has no clue. I bought a FP 45 Dummy Atheran with custom paint for $10.00 with shipping. Another seller sold me a FP-45 Athearn and 6 Athearn rolling stock for $23.00 with shipping.

One that bug me are the ones that want list that a local shop would sell and want shipping as well. Or a low buy it now then want $15.00 to ship the engine or car.
