I started with a Train set my Mom and Dad gave me for my birthday when I was six or seven, and I'm now thirteen so I've been going for about 5 ro six years now.

i've had trains around as long as i can remember.... had home made brio style ones when i was really litlte. got a couple of O scale marx stets at some point, and had those for a while. got a few HO cars at some point simular but it took me a while (years) till i got an HO engine to run them with. after that me and my brothers picked up some more ho stuff at garage sales or what not. it stayed like that till about 8th grade and we went to a train show. me and my brothers picked up some more trains and decided that we really wanted a layout. before we had talked about building one, but never seriously. so we fanaly got my dad into it from there it just took off =D

It all started when I got a wind up Thomas the Tank Engine toy when I was born. Then I got a trainset for my 5th Birthday. I've only started getting serious in the last year, purchasing 3 locomotives over 5 months, building kits, etc.

I'm 58 and just getting started. Have yet to even think about actually building a model. Currently still working on benchwork, backdrop, and subroadbed.
