I think you're correct on both counts certainly the most colourful and I am pretty sure the green & cream was called executive (I couldn't remember and had a wild guess). They have a great variety of locomotives too!

Generally there have been some pretty awesome looking locos coming out recently, except for that new SD70, SD70ace is it? That thing fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down. I don't mean to offend anyone, it really does nothing for me![xx(]

I model the Burlington Northern, right now it's the only raod I have. Almost everything they had. It's funny how NO manufacture ever produced a F3 in HO SCALE in Green & Black. Only in N scale by Kato. (oh my mistake, Cox did it but it was hard on my eyes) I got myself some Proto F3 A&B and repainted them. Also, I was tired of looking at the poor paint job that Athearns put on thier F7'S. The one's with the hockey stick emblem. BN F7'S really didn't have thoes emblems on them, so why did they put them. The new
Athearns "Ready to Roll" was done correctly, but I can't get pass the weak side glazing they have. So, I bought some Stewart F7 undecorated and repainted thoes as well. I have 1 fantasy BN AC4400 that I painted my self too. Here's my list.

Got three Athearn BNSF SD70's I like to run together all three in different schemes, the old Red & Silver BNSF not long after they took over SF, Green & Cream (Corporate?) and a Hertiage. They look great coming up the hill under stress.

They have to be all powered to make it up the grades, seems 35 feet of HO freight train is a bit heavy. Don't know why?[:D]

BNSF does loan a lot of power to NS- i think they are the only RR still running B-units-here are a few BNSF pics i found on the internet
a "kodachrome" today is a VERY rare sight i'd think this is about the only one


I'm pretty sure this one came from a paint program but maybe not.

Here is my story. I grew up along the MoPac Missouri Mule line in West Central Missouri and I followed and modeled that road for several years. This was somewhat painful as I have no great love of the UP as many have expressed above. In 1996 I moved to Carrollton, MO where I got my first real look at BNSF as a busy main runs through town between Kansas City and Chicago. I had no real connection to BN, SF, or any other predacessors of the road, but I immediately fell in love with the paint scheme. in 2000 I moved to north Fort Worth, TX and drove every day through Saginaw along BNSF's main (Wichita Falls sub) and knew immediately this town begged to be modeled. When I moved back home to Missouri in 2003 I decided to make the switch to model the Wichita Falls sub of BNSF in Summer, 2000. Now there is no turning back.

By the way, I love Herigate I and II, but I am not partial to H3 yet at all. Give me some time--10 years or so--and I will probably get used to it.

i think you mean AC4400- the ES44's were introduced by GE in 2005 so a bluebonnet wouln't be prototypical- but the AC4400 was produced from 1993-2004 so there could be a bonnet- but it wouldn't be blue- in 1989 Santa Fe revived the red/silver warbonnet - the blue one would not be painted on anything after 1989- hope that made sense

I agree that BNSF is what it's all about. I've watch then climb the passes of Montana on the old BN line and now I'm back to watching them concure the Cajon Pass where infact I've seen a few Power bar ES4400's. Have you guys seen the Bluebonnett ES that Tower55 is putting out?

thanks BNSFrailfan, it's an Athearn RTR AC4000 H3 (powerbar)--actually the BNSF logo is simply called the BNSF RAILWAY logo-it's the paint scheme that's called the powerbar, H3 ect.- thanks for stickng up for the best rr we will ever see

MY main RR is BN, with SF and UP interchanges. I like the BNSF colors but am sticking with the pre merger focus. For a change of pace I go for my local RR's MEC, B&M, and BAR.

BNSF is the closest I have really gotten to Freight trains.I was given a tour of the Northtown Yard Engine Shops in Minneapolis. The best part was they gave me an authentic BNSF hard hat, and I am grateful for that wonderful experience.

BNSF is awesome but atm im modeling the 50's because of space restrictions maybe down the track i will move back to the modern era, with my beloved Genesis SD75Ms and C-449Ws. just a question, are all the BNSF SD75s Painted in the Warbonnet still or have any been repainted into a heritage paint?

My wife gave me for Christmas three years ago 40 shares of BNSF stock. I have found out that with that little bit of ownership, they will give me all the information I desire on BNSF paints and trackage information (SHOCK SHOCK). The annual reports are very fun to read and study. The local switching crews are friendlier since they found out I own shares.
My layout is freelance with connections to ATSF (set before the BN and ATSF merger) and UP.
I feel that the BNSF should honor the old roads with their paint designs and not just wipe them out. The new stuff looks like UP just different colors!
