The GP9M's are good runners. Thats a very nice pic UPTRAIN. Thats how it should be, EMD leading a GE. lol. That is a SD40R. It is the lead unit in the series.

A good video about the Illinois Central is from Herron Rail Video at http://www.herronrail.com

Their IC video is entitled Mid-American Glory, Illinios Central Railroad, and covers the time period from the 1940's into the 1960's.

icmr, are these the decals http://www.discounttrainsonline.com/dto/item460-87528.html
i have considered painting an engine myself- then if i saw a good deal i wouldn't have to worry about the roadname- a "death star" would be easy to paint since it's all black

Dingoix, cut them out, then put them in water until they slide easily, then apply to the engine.

Atlas is definitly one of the best - i wi***hey had a bigger selection of engines- Athearn has a better seletion of engines i like- i only have one Atlas (the U33C in my sig pic) and it's great- the motor clears the shell by about an eighth of an inch on each side it's an excellent motor that's exteremely powerful- i'd say it's half again as big as the motor in my B-B GP38-2- -Atlas really did a good job-it runs smooth- can't wait to get that Atlas GP40 IC death star
