also the female universal (which is on the shaft w/ the worm gear) has the small broken off piece of the shaft and i don't think i can get it out. I will surely try and fix this SOON. I'd expect Atlas would still have parts.- I've been searching ebay for a b-b IC GP35 like the one my grandfather painted C&NW- If i find one for cheap i'll get that instead of the Atlas GP40 DEATH STAR. I also noticed the SE SD40-2 set sells for about $60

well, bad news today- a few days ago i noticed the front truck in my U33C was falling out so i set it aside. Today i took the shell off and put the truck back in. I put it on the track and hooked it up to 8 cars. I turned up the power and she just sat there spinning. So i removed the shell only to find the front driveshaft was broken. I found the shaft and one end is gone. I removed the worm gear from the front so i can at run it but i can't pull anything. I can live w/o the U33C for a while. Next month i'll probobly get another engine anyway. I'll contact Atlas and get a new driveshaft sometime.

there is a fair number of IC freight cars but not as many as i'd like - here's what i'm going to build up a fleet of http://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/112-2055 --I'll probobly get a few 6-packs of open hoppers. Wathers has them and so does Athearn. The rule i am going to follow is "don't buy more than one of any freight car until you buy just 1 to ensure it's what you want"

CSH has lots of great train pics- i have used a lot of the BNSF ones--- the only disadvantage to modeling BNSF and IC is there is already almost 10 BNSF engines i want plus the Genesis SD70 DEATH STAR, Atlas GP40 DEATH STAR and the B-B SE SD40-2 DEATH STAR (which i'll have to find used)

after finding many pics at www.caboosestophobbies.com i figured out how i can model BNSF & IC - BNSF runs through the Waterloo, IA area and an IC line was there -so on my layout both RR's can share tracks somewhere in Iowa and IC willl not have merged w/ CN. Then i can model BNSF in 2005 but still have IC. BNSF will be more prominent beacause i love modern diesels ( DASH 9, AC4400 ect.)

you can see part of the silos in my sig pic- just above the U33C- the barn shaped building and the small silo was scratch built by my grandfather a number of years ago. the building was built open on 1 side and the power pack for the inside track was in there.
near the back of this pic we see the small silo and the building where the power pack once was. the water tower is almost blocking the building

i have a grain elevator question- How are the covered hoppers loaded? also what ,if anything, spans the tops of the silos i was thinking maybe an enclosed auger and then at one end it'd go down to another buiding (so it could bring grain up and into the silos)- i was also thinking of attaching the silos to a piece of plywood painted gray (to simulate concrete)
