Let's just say to get there it's a 2 hour drive, but I am pretty close and go there often.
And streamline10. those are imaginary models based on the concept of F-M, with the large business from the APR continuing into the early 1970s in the locomtive business. H30-66 is the equivalent of the U30C and SD40, and the H20-64 is a branchline loco for working the APR's branchlines, kinda like the Milwaukee road's SDL39s (which the APR got some of later on)

Thanks for the welcome, guys. So Matthew, are you a teen that lives near those scenes you shoot? You have a bright future ahead, with that kind of skill and talent. That latest pic is amazing! I'll have to look up the other FM models. Hi Keith.

I believe I did, but I'll have to ask my ex-wife if she still has any of them. I have a clear memory of an FP7 in bloody nose, sitting at the platform at 3rd and Townsend, that I may have shot. As for Richmond, there's a turntable and a gaggle of engines old and new. I was last there a few years back, so I don't know what's there and how accessible it is, but I'll give it a shot someday. I like going there. Once we were sitting at a cafe in Pt. Richmond nearby and a giant orange C44-9 (I'm pretty sure) pulled up and sat idling next to the patio where our table was. It was waiting for a switching move connected with it's train. Man, those are big! My group was nervous. I'm modeling in HO, its so much easier for the time/money challenged to find supplies and kits, and N would be a little blurrier for me.

Yes, welcome streamline10!
My freelance railroad, the Alberta Pacific used exclusively FM diesels until the late 1960s when it bought SD45s, and SW1500s, as well as the new FMs, H30-66, H36-66 and H20-46 (or was it 64?) for branchline service. It is widely cedited for keeping FM in business until the SD40-2 finished it off.

Morning Mike, Keith, etc. I've heard it said that raising children is like being pecked to death by chickens, Mike. What do you yhink? Of course I love them completely, though. The gravity of it all.
When I came to S.F. in 1968, I saw SP FP7's, GP-9's, SD-9's, SD-45's, FM switchers and I believe FM Trainmasters that were on the commute line to the S.F. Peninsula. Bloody nose paint scheme, gray with red nose. My nostalgia is pretty active with those days, but I like modern also. I model 50's, and a little 60's. I wi***here were more bloody nose painted, quality plastic locos. I'll be building an FM H12-44 on an Athearn S-12 drive with a Cary body from Bowser. that seems to be the only way to have an FM without the rounded windows like the Atlas models. The SP's didn't have rounded windows. I like the way the FM's look, like a cross between a brick and an elephant in the SP colors. The rounded windows break up the look too much for my taste. I'm rather talkative after coffee.

Me? I think that double slip swotches are really cool, and really expensive. Less fabcy trackwork is better for us low budget types.
As for your engines, they look pretty nice, especially the southern unit. Is that a P2K SD9?

Well, seeing that this came after my post, I feel like that there is my fault. No where did I say that I did not like you. I just don't want to see another flame war. Continue this as you will, it seems to be doing just fine. As long as we don't have people arguing about multiple coffeeshop-like-topics, everything is cool. Keep this going if it is successful, no one here is saying that they don't like you. You have probably started a very successful thread.

I'm repeating myself, but...DON'T LET ME BURST YOUR BUBBLE.

I try to explain myself further...and I make someone feel like they are unwelcomed...that's not something I want to do, I apologize for ever posting anything about multiple coffee shops.[B)]

I figure honesty is the best policy, in person and on this forum. Better to "be one'self" and face what comes than trying to fit in and be something one isn't.

If you are young, those of us without memory problems will take into account your youth, recalling that older folks treated us with patience and respect when we were trying to make a mark. We'll also recall that we made tons of errors of all kinds when we were younger, and profted from the experience. If there were no opportunities to make errors, where would we have learned about them?

To all the youthful fellows out there, whatever your age, [:D] I will do my best to keep you happy here...even by making some errors of my own, both in judgement and in mechanics.

BTW, this IS a trains forum, so ...what's the problem?

Relax, Keith.

No one here knows you well enough yet to know if they like you or not.

Everyone here will post their opinions about what they like and don't like all day long. That's a lot of what this forum is about. But that doesn't mean they're passing judgement on you. Don't get upset - let the comments be about the thread, not about you, because that's really how it is.

Stick around and enjoy all the forum, and chime in whenever you want. This is a great place to learn about everything Model Railroading, and also a great place to share what you know.

Your age may put off a few of the more curmudgeonly folks here, but don't let that stop you. We have a mixed bag of members, and quite a few are younger folks.

I'm just short of 50 myself, and I sure have a lot left to learn. Maybe you know something I don't - don't give up on the forum before I have a chance to find out what it is!
