There is something definitely wrong with that woman...She cannot be all right in the head...That's just plain sick.[xx(] How could someone even think about smashing a train collection of any kind?[:0]

Here is what the message said. . .

My wife and I are going through a divorce. Today she came by to get her stuff, with her new boyfriend. They decided to destroy my Atlas and Proto 2000 locomotives, and several of my rolling stock. My wife knows that these are my pride and joy, especially since I saved for a long time to get them. These locomotives are in pieces, nothing to repair. The police said I have to prove she did it, so I'm SOL.
sorry if I am venting, but this is just wrong,

Take the pieces to your lawyer's office and let him present it to the judge during the settlement process.

Talcum powder, and a dust mop. Get prints. Probably not worth the hassle. Not to mention the extra legal fees. Not to mention that real life is nothing like those cop shows.

I also collect Transformers. I've seen similar things posted, when the wife decides out of the blue, that the husband needs to stop collecting toy robots. In one case the husband's relatives were drafted to help with the "pursuasion." He had pieces stolen, and a rare convention exclusive broken.

This sounds more like it was done out of spite. Such a nice mature thing to do. How's it feel to be back in high school? [banghead]

Divorce is such an ugly thing.

It's too bad that so many people have to show that ugliness so often.

I feel your pain brother...15 years ago, my (now very distant EX wife) did the same thing...I came home from work to find no one there ...she took a baseball bat to all my locomotives, rolling stock, buildings, and scenery in the train room , burned all my clothes in a Bar- B-Que pit, and all she left in the house when she left was the paint on the wall....good ol' ex wives...that's why they're Ex's!...don't get too alarmed or depressed.....what happened was (and it will happen for you,) is that I pulled myself up by my boot straps...started all over again, got over it, and started doing better than I've ever done before after only two years from the divorce than I ever did being married to her for the 13 years i was married to her....chuck

That's bad, but it's also too common. I sure hope they didn't have kids together. I've said it once and I'll say it again..... IF at all possible... change the locks!!

They're going through a divorce. Usually, the "boyfriend" in the situation tries to act all tough to the other guy. At least that's what I've seen.

It makes me mad to read that...but we don't know the whole situation. I think it'd be funny if he destroyed a prized posession of her's or the other guy's...[}:)]

Sounds like nothing a little lighter fluid, a match and the spare keys to her car wouldn't solve....[}:)]

Actually I'd like to state my POV

Its HIS fault, yep!

The MINUTE she moved out, should have been the minute he CHANGED the locks. This is even more a priority if she's shacked up with another guy.

Any time she wants to come pick stuff up, make sure its ONLY when he was there to oversee that nothing was "mistakenly" taken or "accidently" damaged.

Also that if the boyfriend comes with her, he sits outside. It was his responsibility to make sure she understood that he was NOT welcome and would not be allowed in. He could help with the heavy items at least to the door step, then let the new boyfriend take it, but it was his responsibility to protect his property.

Now that the damage is done, he should sue her. or at least bring it up in divorce court, especially if they have kids its a great example to a judge that she and her boyfriend might not be trustworthy with kids if they are so "prone to violence" ...

BTW - The message is not from me - I've been happily married for 15 years. I just posted the message I saw from the Atlas forums.

Take care,
