Wondering if anyone can confirm or deny this rumor. I have heard that David Barrow has totally dismantled the beautiful Cat Mountain and Santa Fe. If this is true, I'm sure glad I purchased the video of it when I did. David is one of my true inspirational heroes.

I have not heard that rumor but I know that from time to time Dave Barrow starts all over, re-using his domino bench work. Unless he is leaving the hobby I am reasonably confident that another fine layout would be forthcoming.

David has indeed dismantled the Cat Mountain & Santa Fe. In its place he's built a large industrial switching layout based on AT&SF operations in and around Lubbock , Texas.
So long,

I remember seeing some of David's equipment (locomotives) up for sale on Ebay a while back. He might need less road power to operate his switching layout.

I met David at the 2000 NMRA Convention in San Jose. He spent a considerablre amount of time discussing layout planning that I incorporated into my existing layout. I'm sure that David's new layout will be terrific! The ironic part is that, although I borrowed a lot of ideas from the CM&SF, my layout is largely an urban layout. I really look forward to seeing pictures of David's new layout.

I'm sad to see the CM&SF gone in its former state. I enjoyed all the articles and advice David gave on its construction and design. As I stated my current layout came about after reading about the CM&SF and seeing how easy domino construction was. I have added additions to my layout using the exact same method and its so simple and easy its painful. Any chance MR will do a pictorial sometime on his latest creation?
Thanks
John
