33, started in HO with my dad, switched to N at 16, back to HO at 24, now back to N this year to build with my son and maybe my daughter if she's interested. Still keeping some HO, but sold the high price stuff to pay for the N.

I'm 54 and model in O scale. I've been interested in Maine 2 foot gauge prototypes for a long time now and really enjoy both the history aspects and the size difference with this minority interest.

The two footers were (are) so small that standing next to them, you get the sense that they're about as tall as you are. So, what this means as a modeler is all the equipment is much, much smaller than standard gauge stuff. My O scale models are about as large physically as some of the larger HO scale models, but detail is twice as large !!

So I get to model in O scale, and design a layout with some of the same advantages as HO scale. For instance, runaround and station sidings can be about the same size as you might design for HO. The only disadvantage is curve radius. I need a minimum of 36 to 38 inches, and am keeping things to about 42 inches. Although real tight in a prototypical sense, it takes up precious space.

I'm having fun.

42. starting an "N" scale board for myself and son. the board lifts to the ceiling to make room for it. 40" X 12'. Eye sight ain't what it used to be. bifocals next year, and magnifiying lamps/head wear help a lot.

46, A railroad engineer as my dad was, and the detail of HO is where I have to be, just couldn't get used to the oversized handrails of N scale. My preferance because you asked.

I'm 49 and run HO. It all started with my son when he was young and got a train set for his birthday. When he was 10 he started playing baseball and the layout was left to gather dust. He's almost 21 now and we have made a deal. He keeps all the baseball cards, (theres alot and they're quite valuable) and I get the trains. The layout is small, 4x8 and is my interpitation Of the Virginia and Truckee railroad. I'm originally from Reno and it hits close to home with all its History. There is a railroad museum in Carson City Nevada that has alot of restored engines and cars from the old V+T. Those old Baldwins were a true art form, with all their brass and everything.

48 N scale

Started in model railroading when I destroyed my Dad's Lionel in 1960 at age 3. Please don't tell him what they would be worth today. My brothers and I had a 4X8 sheet of plywood with HO trains when we were teenagers I am 14 years older than my youngest brother so you can say it was handed down from brother to brother. Last December we took my granddaughter to see the train display at Cinergy (Cincinnati Gas & Electric) and then saw "Polar Express". My layout started a few weeks later.

I are 57 and 2 days. Does that make me "almost" 58? It worked like that when I was 8.

I started with American Flyer S gauge, but was really excited when I first got a look at HO. I still have the Athearn Hustler set that I bought in highschool. I've collected HO and HOn3 for a bunch of years and am working on designing a dual gauge railroad.

I have started to pick-up some 1:20.3 pieces with an eye towards a garden railroad.

35 and in both HO and N (home layout's HO, and I've got six Ntrak modules that get trotted out about three times a year)

If I had unlimited cash and a 60x100 pole barn to play in, I'd be modeling in O two rail.

22, and modelling in a mix of scales - I only really model in HO, though I also have N, G, and small amounts of HOm and O scale. I tend to build projects that interest me rather than sticking to one era or location...

60 and just retired. Was inHO since I was about 14. Now in On30. Cotrary to popular opinion O is as hard to work in as HO. More details and as small or smaller parts.
I also have aF scale 20.3-1 garden layout. Keeps one busy.

Im 21, soon to be 22. I had a 4*8 HO layout that made it to the roadbed stage, then gave up. I now have the same layout plan, only on 3*6 feet, in N scale, and am a lil further along, but in alot less time.
