What's your #1 favorite train movie ?

I'm sure this topic has been brought up more than once in one way or another, but I thought I'd give it a go this way and see what results we get.
I've done a little research under the heading "trains" and there's quite a few titles out there.
I guess my favorite would be "The Train" with Burt Lancaster.

Aha, the bi-monthly train movie review, LOL!
Okay, you're limiting it to one, right?
A TICKET TO TOMAHAWK, with Dan Dailey, Anne Baxter and a scene-stealing little narrow-gauge 4-6-0 called the "Emma Sweeny" (actually, Rio Grande Southern #20). It's funny, exciting, filmed along the Durango and Silverton line, and it features the best movie paint job I've ever seen on a 19th century steam locomotive.
Try it, you'll like it!

There is an old B/W movie which i can't remember the name of but its set in wartime Britain, I think it was called "Terror On A Train" there is a munitions train taking mines to Portsmouth naval base and a guy gets on and sets time bombs in two of the mines, his plot is uncovered and the train has to be diverted and made safe, there is some great shots taken in the cab and also at the lineside.

but this is todays best short film clip taken yesterday by Don Burgess http://www.burgess57.freeserve.co.uk/6201_Birkett.WMV

'The Train' - nothing can beat this for effects and drama!

Favourite comedy would be between 'Oh Mr Porter' (Will Hay) and The Titfield Thunderbolt (Stanley Holloway, John Gregson et al.)

Stephen.

Danger Lights. Classic early 1930's RR flic with some of the best effects (using real locomotives, not models) I've ever seen. Nothing beats the scene to the tug-o-war between two steam road locomotives at the company picnic!

Kirk Douglas and Burt Landcaster in "Tough Guys". They steal a train and cruise it over the Mexican border.

For an animated movie "Polar Express" was enjoyable, but it sure was different. Those animated trains can do things a "prototype" never would. Tremendous in IMAX.

I have always enjoyed "Union Pacific".

A lot of good choices, but I'm surprised that no one remembers Buster Keaton in a silent movie called (I think) the General. It's set during the American Civil War and the entire movie is trains, start to finish. Lots of action, a chase scene that lasts almost the entire length of the movie and a big train wreck. Real trains and some pretty amazing stunts, especially by Keaton. The movie was done in the '20's, but the camera work is steady: even if you're not a fan of silent movies, it's well worth seeing. Probably available at most video rental outlets.

A "very good" movie - even if it is silent!... I've always liked Buster Keaton.

Breakheart Pass with Charles Bronson - one of this movie's highlights is when the last three cars (the two troop boxcars and the caboose ) break loose from the train, rolls backwards for about two miles and goes over a cliff killing the troops during a spectacular wreck at the same time.

Also the Great Locomotive Chase with Fess Parker - one of this movie's highlights is the actual chase between locomotives Texas and General on the Western and Atlantic during the Civil War in Georgia

The train scenes in Dr. Zhivago. I saw it when it was first released to the theaters. I was only a teenager then and my interest in model RR's was waning, but the movie for some reason rekindled my interest.
