On a different note. My advice for any young people is to NEVER comment on your age in a public forum. Most people are good but some are not. And in a less serious note sometimes they will use your age against you by dismissing your opinion. So it is in your best interest to keep school stuff and age under your hat. No one needs to know how old you are here. Congratulations on your choice of hobby.

Maybe I can convince you to join the dust bunny model sub-group of the hobby. It is cheap which means you can save that lawn mower money for college. It is easy to change scales and the only real expence is hairspray for that final set.

And while I am thinking of lawn clippings I wonder if anyone is making compost models. True it would be somewhat time based but you could use the older grass clippings to model a pretty good UP with the grey and yellow coloring.

Only this thread. every other thread is totally civil. Almost. For some it is necessary to bash UP on occasion, others are genetically predisposed to defend. Then both groups go back to sleep, or maybe to modelling!

I have to say thanks for a great break from all this and your dust bunnie stuff is a real neat topic, you may want to let the guys at Kalmback in on it to start a whole new forum.

I need to start operating (my girlfriend says playing with) my trains. I have a coal plant waiting on that unit train, I need to get them a track warrant and get them out into the clear.

Thanks for a great laugh this after noon, now back to the serious stuff.[:)]

Hey now Lotus the dust bunny thing was your idea.

Oh another thought on the compost modeling. Fresh grass clippings could be modeled into a good Burlington Northern scheme. Circa 70's and 80's. I'm heading over to the golf course tommorrow. I bet if I play my cards right I could get a truck bed full for next to nothing.

Well, it's a response but I'll leave it up to you to decide if Lotus098 answered the question convincingly. And yes, he did say he paid taxes. Go back and look at the quote.

Actually, if you dig through the archives, you'll find I am not the first person to ask if he's 14. Read through his postings. Do you know any 14 year old kid who is so knowledgible and opinionated. He discusses taxes and politics with the same ferver as you and I. His viewpoints are not those of a typical 14 year old. That and a certain pattern or style of writing made me curious. So I thought that I would have a little fun.

Did you notice how Lotus098's reaction in this thread differs in tone and style from his more recent UP thread rants?

Ok, so what does it matter? Ask yourself why someone would use this artifice. Why not just be straight?

And FYI--the manager at the local Nampa ID Burger King does not hire 14 year old kids-too many federal restrictions.

I'm having a heck of a time even coming up with a layout plan, much less pheasants. Yes, let's get back to MR guys. I'm leaving this once and for all.

Perhaps you could kitbash some dust bunnies into pheasants? Or would the ASPCDB get upset?

Might need a disclaimer...."No Dust Bunnies were hurt in the creation of these pheasants". [;)]

My dust bunny models and landscapes are a product of my own intelligent design.

Just walked into my dust bunny landscape room and made the mistake of walking by too fast and the train flew off in the wind. Bunny bashing.

Well then so what if it's nonsense? I have listened to so much nonsense over the past years it becomes necessary to just smile politely and filter out the junk that is obviously not true. I'm 25 years old 26 in September and I have another 50 or 60 years maybe more of listening to garbage.

If I run for political office which I am thinking on doing at some point when I feel like it, the amount of garbage talk will increase 10 fold.

So to be perfectly honest (no humour intended), folk need to develop some patience. I know it is hard; goodness knows I have a hard time practicing what I preach and often have bouts of hypocracy but it is best to just forget about it.

HELP!!! I have been sucked into this topic like some kind of cyber "black hole". It's
like our famous rip currents here in P'cola. The harder you try to escape, the farther
in it pulls you. Now I can't log on with out checking this thread (and the other one
about a guy who choose to have a young lady hold his train). Someone help before
I start a unnecessary topic of my own. Dave

I too seemed to be draw to this topic like a moth to a flame (no pun intened)

Can I ask, do you have any cars to weather, bad track that needs attention? I have the computer in the same room as the layout, I keep turning around looking instead of running some trains.

Dennis, cut him some slack. Big deal if he can discuss things on an adult level. I did the same thing when I was 14. By the age of 14, every adult I knew considered me one as well. I talked about everything with the adults, and still do when I get the chance. Just because someone is a teenager, doesn't mean they are immature, wild, or unsensable, like the oh-so-common stereotype portrays us to be.

Lotus's reaction might differ because it is a different topic. The UP topic is about his interest in UP, this topic is about someone saying stuff against him. It sounds to me like he is just being defensive right now.

And for your information, some Burger Kings will hire 14. I know, as I almost got a job at one, but decided against it.

I do pay taxes, sales tax, gas tax (for the lawnmower), taxes on shipping, and I directly see how much my parents pay. No you are only the second person to ask, the other was antigates on the forum about UP's flag. You have to remember I am so knowledgeable and opinionated, because I listen a certain radio show (nobody picked up on the Rio Linda, joke[;)]), study lots of books, study economics all the time, and associate with adults (not a lot of kids). Many people have commented to my parents how I act much more like an adult than I do a child. Many people have a certain pattern of writing, although I would have phrased much of what was said by the other people you suppose to be me, quite differently. I can get mad, when people display an extreme lack of logic, they use opinion, I use facts, then I don't get flamed, I get roasted alive. So I tend to sound irritated, on certain topics. I am as straight as you can get. However I have some fond ideas about the "good old days", so it may sometimes sound like I lived through them.
Read carefully, I said I did some work for Burger King, not I worked for Burger King. I didn't serve coffee; I typed questions about the proper serving temperatures. How come you have yet to say you might be wrong, or to even give me the benefit of the doubt? Also I thought on some of the forums talking like I was not 14 more people might give my views more thought, while I never claimed not to be 14. Check out my post on how much equipment I have:http://www.trains.com/community/forum/topic.asp?page=-1&TOPIC_ID=41851&REPLY_ID=439068#439068
Does this sound like an old guy, or a kid who saves up all his money to buy these things? Did any of these other guys do a lot of research bout trains in Idaho, and make comments about how west is better? Certain things that make up my personality are unavoidably lacking on any other user.

[#ditto] to what Jim stated, we cannot add to what he stated. There will always be people on the forum who like to "stir" the pot."...if ignorance was bliss, they would be the happiest people in the world. Thankfully, they are a very, very small minority in this great MRR forum.

Hi guys,
I was at the Mall and someone told me there was a fight going on over here. Something about an identity crisis or was it identity fraud. I see a fire truck; did they put the fire out? I sure hope so. Guess I will get back to modeling.

Now to be serious. I have met 13-16 years olds that are mature beyound belief. The can write very well, read a lot and I hear many call into Rush and Hannity all the time, speaking about topics my girlfreind and brother have no clue about.

I am going to have to say I think you are on the up and up, and I think your Rio Linda joke is the all seeing Ma Ha Rushie, am I right?

Hang in there, and please don't take offense to the dust bunny stuff, it was all in good fun, for me and hopefully others.
