QUOTE: RE: Grossly Dishonoring the American Flag TRAINS Magazine Forums » Railroads Posted by Lotus098 Posted: 19 Jul 2005, 20:57:50 We feed the world, this is part of the trade that helps to equalize outsourcing; don't laugh a lot foreign of companies do locate plants and other things in the US. Also outsourcing is not as bad as you make it out to be. For some things it is not profitable to outsource, the company I work for had look into doing a large print run for a client and the price of companies that outsourced to China and India were both higher than the price of a print shop in Texas. Look at car companies (since you laugh I'll explain) they base plants in the Detroit area, employ Americans to build their cars, same company also has nation wide dealerships employing Americans to sell the cars, and railroad to haul cars nation wide. Look at history there was a time when it was feared that American goods were selling at a higher price than goods shipped in from England (outsourcing). People talked of all that would be sold were cheaper British products, similar to fears of Chinese products. This did not happen; you seem to be of the same mindset of these people. You can learn a lot from history. Supply and demand plays a big part as well Chinese goods are usually not as well made as goods made right here at home, the more companies outsource the more demand there is for good American products, these can now be sold at a higher price and some one will start building factories in the US for them. QUOTE: [#offtopic] If you can't stand the heat of the coffee don't buy it. The stuff is hot for a reason, this is absurd. They have very strict temperature controls (I did some work for Burger King and it had better be right at the temperatures they want) people want hot coffee and it sells, give it to them. The cups do say hot coffee. It's not there fault people are to clumsy to drink it. Could find a link to an article that says a patient needed 2 years of skin grafts. What other than medical bills should be paid. I agree with ereimer too many lawyers. James[C):-)]
QUOTE: I think it is a good idea to protest, but just how can you not pay your taxes here the IRS will be on your tail faster than the Red Baron on Snoopy. I think tax money should go little farther than defense, roads, and other small things. Not Ponzi schemes and socialist systems of wealth redistribution (for those of you in Rio Linda that's welfare). I still pay them though. James[C):-)]

The post that this grew from is in the CTT forum and should have stayed there to keep it in context. Instead of playing one forum against the other.

QUOTE: Originally posted by emmaandy I don't know about the dust bunny thing it was just something that lotus098 tipped me off on. I think he said it to me as a meens of dismissing my negative feelings about the UP charges that I was posting about. Anyways that snarky comment really openned a new world to me about the new and exciting world of Dust bunnies and dust bunny collecting. Who knew there could be such variety. Check out www.dustbunnies/forums/collecting/landscapes.com. It changed my whole outlook on my hobby and I am tearing down the layout to build my new collecting space. At least on the dust bunny forum no one comes around with beligerant and half formed "facts" about why my opinion on UP and thier fee collecting is wrong.
QUOTE: Originally posted by emmaandy Well you made your point over there (CTT) several times over I think. So why are you complaining here (MR) about something that happened there? Why don't you write a message to Dennis B instead of doing this so (semi) publicly and in a forum that has no knowledge of what caused this squabble.
Jake: How often does the train go by? Elwood: So often you won't even notice ...

Would you and "Lotus098" knock it off!! This dust bunny stuff is irritating!! Just live your life, forget about things and keep model railroading and don't collect "dust bunnies"!! Of all things to think up Lotus098! Richard

QUOTE: Originally posted by babefluff I don't know about everybody else, but tis whole thing seems like a waste of good web space. A big crowd has gathered around to see the school yard fight. It's like when you see an accident up ahead, everybody slows down to see if they can see how bad of an accident it really was. Yes I know this sounds morbid, but it is just human nature. I read this forum a lot, I don't make a lot of posts. One star or fifty stars what difference does it really make? Our hobby is relaxing lets keep it that way and forget about who said what. After all, not all of us are still in grade six. Scott

QUOTE: Originally posted by emmaandy I am working on my dustbunny model of a UP GP-50 and unit trailer train. I know what you are going to ask so I will beat you to it. No I am not going to pay UP a dime. I started by unravelling a yellow sweater over a sheet of paper. I then carefully tipped the paper up and made a "dust ball". This step is tricky because the rest of the model is built off this base. The color of the model is due to the dust used. I found that the best place to get sweaters for this is a thrift shop. It takes several sweaters in various colors and some time to build up a nice dust train. It is also tricky to find a good work area. A good wind will distroy minutes of work so it is best to work in a corner or other protected area like under the bed. When you are done some hairspray will set you dust bunny model and it can be carefully transfered to your dust bunny landscape or layout as we call them in the US. You can see a gallery of my work at www.dustbunny/models/landscape/gallery/emmmaandy.com What do you think? Surprising likeness right? I was trying to go for a weathered workhorse look. Would love to hear you comments.

QUOTE: Originally posted by Dennis B Well, it's a response but I'll leave it up to you to decide if Lotus098 answered the question convincingly. And yes, he did say he paid taxes. Go back and look at the quote. Actually, if you dig through the archives, you'll find I am not the first person to ask if he's 14. Read through his postings. Do you know any 14 year old kid who is so knowledgible and opinionated. He discusses taxes and politics with the same ferver as you and I. His viewpoints are not those of a typical 14 year old. That and a certain pattern or style of writing made me curious. So I thought that I would have a little fun. Did you notice how Lotus098's reaction in this thread differs in tone and style from his more recent UP thread rants? Ok, so what does it matter? Ask yourself why someone would use this artifice. Why not just be straight? And FYI--the manager at the local Nampa ID Burger King does not hire 14 year old kids-too many federal restrictions.
QUOTE: Originally posted by dthurman Now to be serious. I have met 13-16 years olds that are mature beyound belief. The can write very well, read a lot and I hear many call into Rush and Hannity all the time, speaking about topics my girlfreind and brother have no clue about. I am going to have to say I think you are on the up and up, and I think your Rio Linda joke is the all seeing Ma Ha Rushie, am I right? Hang in there, and please don't take offense to the dust bunny stuff, it was all in good fun, for me and hopefully others.

QUOTE: Originally posted by Dennis B You attracted my attention because you started UPS flame wars (intentional or not ) on several forums. To me, it really smacked of a prior troller. I needed a distraction so I checked out your posts. As I noted, there was room for speculation. So, I figured I'd fan the flames your way and see what happened. If you were who I thought you were, you would just melt away. In the not too distant past, we had Bert & Ernie and Mary Poppins, neither of whom were who they said they were. They disappeared quickly. Ok, you've convinced me. I stand corrected and I apologize. But you've got to admit , it's been one heck of a ride.
