Major Announcement Coming From MTH at NMRA Show in Cincinnati
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, June 25, 2005 3:46 PM
I was told some exciting news today about MTH's entry into HO. I'm not able to divulge this information but it will be something that I think will revolutionize the HO industry. It will be the talk of the NMRA show in Cincy when it's announced. Stay tuned.[:D]

Let me guess - MTH now has proof that they invented HO Model Railroading!

Thats funny!!!. When I first started looking into trains I came across MTH and I thaught hey they are from Maryland as I am so I should support them... I had no I dea they did not do HO but was really impressed with the quality of the trains I saw at shows. I read into the whole ordeal and it was a very interesting read. If they ever do any HO in the B&O colours I will probably get on to add to my sons roster.. J

What ever it is, I'm not buying.

Any MTH HO product is DOA, as far as I am concerned.

We are hopefully announcing the folding up of MTH. If not and they are going ahead with their HO line I'm now announcing a boycott of all their HO products.Thers no room for this company in HO. Not with their love of the lawsuit over building and coexisting with the other manufacturers. Rob

Rob:
Maybe their going to stay in the "O" scale and stay out of "HO. That would be a great annoucement.

It sure sounds like you work in MTH's Marketing Department to me. Only an idiot from marketing would come up with something like this to "generate" excitement for the announcement. It sounds lame, phony and just like something I would expect to hear from a used car salesman. Give me a break!

When I see posts like this, I know that I will never take the poster of such drivel seriously from that point on.

Maybe they're gonna sue every model railroader that doesn't have one of their products.

There is nothing that MTH could do to revolutionize HO for me, unless they folded up shop and left the country. They are a pax on the hobby as far as I am concerned.

More likely, the other way 'round - Horizon buying MTH !!!

As much as Horizon has ticked off some HOers, it does not even BEGIN to compare to the HATRED knowledgable *** have for MTH. [:(!]

THe only announcement I want to see is that MTH settled their dispute with Lionel. They would use their legal team to stop UP from charging so much to use their logos & stuff. THen we could all get back to modeling & out of the courthouse.

The most exciting news is MTH's new patented coupler called the "horn hook coupler".

You boys sure are hostile towards ol Mike. I think he would be great for HO. Just give him a chance and don't listen to gossip about lawsuits. He could buy Horizon if he wants to. Maybe he will.

I want no part of MTH. I got fed up with him and his actions when I was in O-gauge. I am now back in HO and am very pleased with Athearn Genesis, Atlas, BLI and P2K.

Mike got my last dime 6 years ago.

MTH is suing QSI/Soundtraxx/Someone significant in DCC over the ability to control a locomotives speed in 1 mph increments, and the way of doing that.

Something that a lot of HO'ers consider meritless, and thus not just bad for the hobby, but actively antagonistic towards the hobby.

Personally, I figure Lionel got what was coming to them when they stole the locomotive design.

Like it or not, there is a perception among HOers that MTH is in the hobby for themselves, and not especially interested in furthering anything except the size of their own pocketbook.

While the truth is probably far less negative as to MTH's true motives, the damage has been done. If MTH wanted name recoginition in the hobby, they've got it. Makes one wonder it that wasn't their true goal all along.

Time will tell if being perceived as a "robber baron" in the hooby is healthy for business or not.

Its INCREDIBLE how much negativity Mike generated amung HOers. How is he supposed to survive in our market?

I protest him on principle.

Yeah, he can bring all the realism and accuracy MTH stuff is famous for to HO.

While I believe that Lionel and its partners in crime may have gotten what they deserved, the DCC/Sound lawsuits/threats will hurt the hobby in the long run. I'll never support them or forgive them for that.

Hey, why can't Mike get into HO? The more the better. You boys don't know about the good stuff he put out in O gauge. Take a look and you will change your minds.

I've seen the stuff he has in O guage, Red. I saw one of those new Erie Triplex's yesterday. Pathetic! I've seen Bachmann's with more detail! And oh how the thing buzzed when it ran! If MTH can do that bad on an O model, I'd hate to see how they could ruin an HO one.........
