the photo backgrounds look great ! what a cool idea

Nice work folks.

Here is what I have been upto this weekend.

I have been playing around with a cheap piece of software I got off e-Bay called "Big Picture". It allows you to print a large image from a digial photo onto 8 1/2 x 11" sheets and then piece them together to make a poster. I figured I could use it to make my backdrop. So I took a few panoramic shots of distant trees over a corn field and spent a chunk of this morning sticking them together and triming off the sky. The following pics are with the mural strips (about 4' long each), just resting against my blue backdrop.

In the next shot, the boys have parked my feed and seed trucks in the oil dealer, oh well, they are having fun, but the point of the shot is the corn field in the back.

I am really happy with the results and think that this program will yield most if not all my backdrops. I need to take some urban shots, to see how it works out.

Finally, I have been making some buliding flats from DPM kits. Here are 2 that are part decorated with faded paint and some 50's posters. Windows go in tomorrow along with some grime and dirt.

I don't think there's any rules but prototype pics (which we all enjoy) might be better located on the Trains forum. Just a thought.

Honestly, I'd rather see your railroad. We railfan the CSX all the time.

Rules? We don't need no stinking rules! (what are they gonna do, ban you for posting a bad photo?)

(If there are any rules about what can be posted in this most informal of environments, I'm unaware of them)

Carl--you are really burning rubber, my friend--great job!
Aggro--I'm leery of P1 or P2k locos, after having to use helpers with my P2k USRA 2-8-8-2 to get it to pull anything. Even though I love that early Rio Grande F-3 scheme, I'll probably just stick with steam.
Here's a couple of more shots I took today:

#804 arriving in Sierra City with the Yuba River Express. Some passengers are surprised that it's actually ON TIME! Didn't have any fishermen to pick up in the canyon, this day.

#583, my 'Little Critter', as yet unpainted (one of the reasons I bought the Paasch) pulling a short freight on Yuba Pass.

This is a 'cartooned' version of one of my favorite photos.

Tom, you can get a P1K Grande F3A&B set for $45 at Trainworld. It adds a nice contrast to your steam.

Super pics, everyone--did't do much this week, but caught a shot of 4-6-2 #804 wheeling the Yuba River Express past 2-10-2 #1400 'in the hole' with a coal train at Wagon Wheel Gap. Just invested in a Paasch airbrush, and as soon as I learn to use it, maybe I can start improving the paint jobs on some of my locos. LET US PRAY, LOL!

Due to unforseen shortages of motive power on the Platt Canyon Division, some F3's may be retained until further notice. [:D][:D][:D]

Excellent pics as always Grande man, that last shot is superb!

Thanks. I'm thinking that I should be taking lesson from you though! This scene in your album really shows the kind of detail you're capable of. The water (and the rest of the scene) is very realistic. Great job! Hope you don't mind me posting it here.

I don't know what's wrong...I've done this many times...maybe I ran over some limit with all the roundhouse photos this morning.
I'll post tomorrow.
