just finished my other SP SD38-2

I finally got some time off of work, so I actually finished a project. this is another kato SD38-2. it started off as a UPY unit that i stripped. then I added a new cab and sub base. along with a nose light and all of the other SP goodies that it needed. I painted it with floquil paints then tossed on some microscale decals. then all it needed was some rust and grime. the rust is painted on, all of the other weathering is chalks.

so now, I finally got a set to switch West Colton....now all i need is a layout! :)

UP to SP, that is what I like to hear, if only that would happen with the prototypes. Nice jobs on those locomotives. Did those sideframes come with the locomotive are did they come from elsewhere?

Great Job Nightcrawler! [tup] I have an Athearn SD-40 that I'm going to convert it to the Great 'Red and Grey" scheme. You mentioned 'Wash Racks'???? Yeah Right! I think those were used for the engineers to wa***here face and hands! [(-D]

those are the stock Kato sideframes. they make both 2 and 3 brake cylander types.

Are the Kato side frames hard to fit to the Athearn Model? I'm doing a few SD40-2s and what are called by the Wisconsin and Southern SD20's, and these side frames look like they might work for this. Really good work all around.

Nice SD38-2s! Great job on the weathering. Check out the SD38-2 in the June MR. They have an article or somthing on them. I havn't checked it out yet.

I am way impressed. Great looking engines Night. I really liked your layout too. Looks great. Love the ocatillo (think I spelled it right) in the back ground. Nice touch..
