Evening

Ya that was it John, and the highlight of my day.

Lost my .08 mm pencil among the three others doing trim today.  3, ...How can one do that?

Did you ever run around your construction sight for 5-10 minutes wondering where your other pencil was?

Swear to the good Lord above, I've been losing it since I've turned 60 guys

Did find that pencil though, after it fell out from behind my ear and hit the floorWhistling

Good afternoon from a snowy Pacific Rim.

We are at 40 cm and it is still coming down. I have shoveled the 126' long driveway four times and will go do it again shortly. Every year I keep saying I will buy a snow blower for the John Deere, but never do.Laugh Oh well the Garmin says I have burned 5100 calories so far. Shoveling snow goes a long way in the blubber control department, however, at 10% body fat I don't have any to control and have already had two huge meals.

I drove my future DIL to her store. She is 23 and manages a pretty large grocery store for a large chain we all know. That was a two-hour round trip which normally would have taken 40 minutes. I have to go back and get her @2300hrs. No scotch for me tonight, well maybe when I get home.Pirate

David, glad to hear the surgery went well and you are back home safe.

John, about your power fluctuations, have you ever checked the house power to make sure all is steady on that front?

Mike, the Estate you are referring to is still in the hands of the CRA (Canadian Revenue Agency) I am 100% behind them being so thorough as it was a mess and very suspicious from a legal standpoint. I am keeping the beneficiary completely in the loop and have had no issues with them four years in.

I had good friends come over last night and they have a real nightmare on their hands with three generations with no wills, millions of dollars in property all over the Province and most everyone is deceased. They wanted to know how it would likely play out as the Government is already seizing some of it for unpaid taxes. I think at this stage of their lives they will likely walk away. They are in line for almost all of it, however, the cost and time frame to clean things up is a non-starter for two mid-sixties near-retirement individuals. My wife ran the list of properties through  Provincial assessment while we chatted and they totaled North of twenty million.

Think I'll pound down a Mocca and head back out as another 10cm has fallen while I have been sitting here.

It is so quiet outside you can hear the snowflakes hitting the ground.Pirate

All the best to all.

Good morning, diners.  Bacon, eggs, and coffee, please.

Bear and TF, I don't wear glasses, but I use reading glasses for anything closer than three feet.  I got so tired of losing glasses that I bought a bunch of them from the grocery store.  They had a rack of the glasses, three for two dollars.  I have the glasses stashed all over the house and in the car.  I'm slowly going through them all -- I've sat on a pair, dropped a pair in the toilet, lost a pair in the yard, etc.  Now, the last time I looked at the store, they no longer sell them.  Walmart has them for $5.00 each, which is way too high for me.  Maybe I can make the ones I have left last until I'm done.

Have a good one, diners.

Good morning from snowville.

The snow stopped at about 45cm and now we have a freezing rain warning for the next 36 hours. With last summer's drought and heat stress, the trees are not doing well with just the snow, can't wait to see what the weight of freezing rain will bring.

Had to go pick up the future DIL at 2300hrs last night, another two-hour round trip. She is supposed to have today off but when you are the store manager there is no such thing. I parked the Toyota inside so if the truck is a block of ice I can just hop in that.

I don't usually eat unless I am hungry but I woke up starving after my shoveling yesterday so a big feed of bacon and eggs is first on the agenda.Dinner

John, like you I have glasses all over the house, mine are from Costco. It is funny how so many pairs end up on my desk here. I have to do a re-distribution run sometimes.Laugh

Well best get at it.

Along the lines of Lions' cool photo.

All the best to all.

Hey, I'm sitting here looking at six of 'em that I got two years ago at Costco (must be like Brent's).  3 are +1.25, 3 are +2.00.  Included are a couple of sleeves that you can quickly lose, too!  They've been laying around virtually unused.  Taking up space that I could use for kits and parts that I'll never get to, either.  Whistling

If we can hook up address-wise I'll send them to you (post paid) at no charge.  I think my email address is in my profile.

I appreciate the offer, but I'm way past those powers.  I now use at a minimum 2.5, and if I'm going to use them for some small work, I'll use 3.0.

I'm not sure if they make anything beyond that, but I will just quit reading when those no longer are strong enough!

Sigh

It is still snowing. The guy on the TV said it is the second-largest single dump on record.

I have the fire on, the Canucks are playing at 1900hrs and I have an extra large poor of some Glen Levitt.

Went for a slog through the snow and the silence was magical in the forest.

I had this going through my head the whole time.

Winter Has Come.

Good Evening,

Brent, that is some snowfall!  The only year I lived on the coast was the year the Fraser froze and the 4' fence in our backyard in Coquitlam disappeared under the snow. That was Christmas 1964. I was in grade 12 at Coquitlam High.  Lucky me hoping for my first green Christmas. Dad's car spent 10 days in a parking lot as it couldn't make it up the hill after pickihg up my sister from the train at New Westminister.

Gidday Chloe, a cold one, please!

Like you York1John, I only need glasses for fine close-up work, so because I’m taking them off and on, I have to be careful to keep track of where I put them down. Tool control is very important in aviation, you don’t want to have an aircraft leave a hanger with extra “stuff” left in it; could be very dangerous. I worked with a guy who was forever losing his specs, I’d often find them around the hanger and return them to him. I didn’t realise that he had 8 pairs in his tool box, so He wouldn’t run out! When I found out, I told him that he was allowed only one pair, with possibly a spare pair in his car, and, if I ever found them in an aeroplane returning to service, I’d read him the “Riot Act.”  Unfortunately, I did have too!! NOT Good!!!

Good Morning Diners.  Flo, a coffee to go please.

Have to be to the chiropractor in a few minutes, then get one of the dogs to the vet for a follow up appointment for an ear infection, then get the truck in for a new windshield.  Busy morning, but it sure beats being at work!

Good morning

They still have reading glasses at the dollar store John.  But It costs me two bucks for a pair though.  My right eye is weaker than the left.  So I'll buy two different magnifications and swap out the lensesHuh?

By the way, The Dollar Store charges a $1.25 now?  They ain't living up to their name anymore.  I've heard of nickel and diming the customer before, but a quarter now? Laugh

PS   Some how, all that does sound better than wxxk MikeLaugh  I'm taking the day off!

Busy morning, but it sure beats being at work!

Mike, that is exactly how I've felt the past six years.  The best parts for me -- no evening meetings!  No evening phone calls!  Weekends that are mine to do what I want!

Our weather forecast is improving!  Instead of the predicted minus 26°F tonight, it's been changed to only minus 19°F.  Spring is right around the corner!

I finally got the streetcar to run, stop at the end points, reverse, and run again.  Next is to work on adding streets.  This is a boring video of the streetcar running.  Hope the video works here.

Hope everyone has a great Friday.

Hi John,

The streetcar looks good!

Does your controller have a way to gradually increase or decrease the speed at the stopping points? I'll have to dig my controller out to see if mine can vary the speed.

Cheers!!

Dave

Dave, no it doesn't.  The voltage from the buck converter is set for a certain voltage, and when the streetcar reaches that endpoint, the power goes off.

Since this is DC, I'm not good enough at this to figure out how to slow down the car at the stop.

I may try to experiment with some arduino stuff sometime to see if I can do something like that.

Right now, I'm just happy it works!
