Have a good one!
73
Years ago, when I was a lad and so were you, we had a cat and a parakeet. The bird lived in a cage with both front and back doors. One day, we heard a ruckus and found the cat with his head and front legs out the back door and his tail and back legs out the back. The bird was still in the cage.
We decided to rehome the bird. These days, they probably would have said to find a Para-Psychologist and treat the bird for PTSD.

Good morning. I'm heading out the door to a friend's award luncheon. He's being honored for all the work he does for the town.
House painting continues. I have a feeling this is the last time I will paint the house. Either I'll be somewhere else or I'll be too old and will have to hire it done.
Have a great Friday!

I just tried to post my usual good morning. It disappeared. So it seems I am having trouble responding in the diner.
Other threads are working.

For all you cat lovers out there....
Ed,
We found your cat.....

Even on the roof of the house he'll help me clean the chimney. He disappears when it is gutter-cleaning time, though. Typical for a cat!

No, you probably don't want the dog climbing a ladder, particularly if you're on it. It's bad enough trimming the high branches of the Christmas tree when the cats want to follow me up.
The new dog is wearing me out. It is the most active dog we've ever had. I really didn't want another dog, but I was overruled by someone else. I wish the dog could climb ladders.

Have a good day, everyone. If you're within driving distance of central Nebraska, feel free to come by and grab a paint brush. I'll hold the ladder.
Hi Everyone,
Brunhilda, coffee with cream, please.
Dropping in to say hello. Some years ago now, I think around 20 my wife flew into SeaTac and drove down to Crescent City. Then we drove back north on the Oregon coast hwy all the way up to Long Beach, WA. After our meetings in Vancouver, we drove East to Pasco and went back west all along the Columbia River crossing back into Oregon at Hood River. Great trip! Beautiful scenery. Good wines and good beers. That was probably the last that I could drink beer, so I went down with a smile on my face. Eastern Washington is a good wine producing region for both whites and reds.
Kevin: Your youngest is going to find that it can get fairly frosty in Washington. They can get snow. Of course they don't get it like North Dakota or Chicago, but it can still get cold.
Unfortunately, I don't have any pics of the brews from the region, but there are/were lots of good ones including my favorite Olympia, which is now deceased.

Good afternoon, everyone. It's 5:00 o'clock somewhere, so I will have an ice cold beer.
All summer I put off painting the house since I claimed it was too hot. Well .... we've now had cool temps, (80° right now), so I can't put it off any longer. The upper part of the fireplace chase is 18 feet high, and it had two boards that I knew were rotten. I replaced those today, got everything up there caulked, and it's ready to paint tomorrow.
The chimney is the part that I dread painting because of the height. After tomorrow, I can enjoy painting the rest of the house. Of course, my youngest daughter had to call and remind me that her neighbor's father died when he fell off a ladder painting his house. I hung onto the ladder very tightly.
Brother Lion, that was a funny story. I'm copying it to send to my brother.
Welcome back, TF!
I hope everyone is doing well this afternoon.

Hi Bro. Elias!
That was the best laugh I have had in a long time!!!
Thanks!!
Dave
I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
Sounds like just another typical day for.
"Florida Woman Stops Alligator Attack Using a small .22 caliber Ruger Pistol."This is a story of self-control and marksmanship by a brave, cool-headed woman with a small pistol against a fierce predator. Here's her story in her own words: "While walking along the edge of a pond just outside my house in the Villages discussing a property settlement with my soon-to-be ex-husband, and other divorce issues, we were surprised by a huge 12-ft alligator which suddenly emerged from the murky water. It began charging us with its large jaws wide open. She must have been protecting her nest because she was extremely aggressive.""If I had not had my little Ruger 22 caliber pistol with me, I would not be here today! Just one shot to my estranged husband's knee cap was all it took.""The gator got him easily, and I was able to escape by just walking away at a brisk pace. The amount I saved in lawyer's fees was really incredible and his life insurance was also a big bonus!"

DoughlessWhat was the catch? It was for a downtown clinic dealing with psyche patients. You know, probably a lot of psyche in downtown SEA.
That sounds like the kind of job you need to be personally passionate about or you will be in for a lot of misery.
BigDaddyDoug, congratulations to your daughter. Not sure about her choice of locations. My Niece-in-Law is a PA in the ER. None of her colleagues are taking covid tests because they have to be off 5 days without pay.
Thank you.
Boyfriend/Fiance has a good job with Anheuser Busch in SEA, that is the immediate reason. They would jump at the chance to relocate to Denver with Bud.
Yes, it seems the COVID protocols maybe at the point where its more severe than the disease itself, since the remedy seems to be much the same as the standard flu these days...but I haven't paid attention to the issue for a couple of years now.
Daughter was offered a job with great pay and great hours...5:30a to 1:30p...beats SEA traffic. What was the catch? It was for a downtown clinic dealing with psyche patients. You know, probably a lot of psyche in downtown SEA, by just watching the events over recent years. I suggested that she pass on the offer.

Good morning everyone. Chloe, I would like a bowl of scrambled eggs with some shredded cheddar cheese on the top. Please do not forget to have the cook add black pepper to the eggs as they are cooking. Thank you.
hon30critterDianne and I sat down today and made up a calender of all the things that we have to do before the end of September.
That is too much! I have three events we need to attend in September, and it seems like an awful lot to do.
Track fiddlerYou may have forgotten where you were at the time of your photo on that trip Kevin. That photo isn't from Washington
Hmmm. It was in the Washington folder, but I know there are some pictures in that folder from Theadore Roosevelt National Park, so errors have happened.
Good morning
The hot streak in the 90's, with the heat index in the low 100's is over for awhile here. A high of 71° is forecasted today, ...NICE!

That's the I 94 rest stop between Fargo and Bismarck, North Dakota, going across the Dakota Plains about two hours East of Br. Lion's neck of the woods. We stop there every time we visit our Son and GrandKids.
It's where BNSF goes through the sunflower fields, and cuts through the center of the small farm lakes on the man made railroad berms.
Pics taken by TF
Those berms must have underwater culverts, otherwise the water level on the side of the lake with more runoff, would get higher than the other side

My grandmother liked going to funerals, but neither my father didn't like it nor do I. Joe was a college and medical school classmate and colleague died of pancreatic cancer. I figured out I knew him for 50 years and his wife for 48.
That's why I have to go this Saturday. He was a two years younger than his brother, Ed, who was in my year in both college and med school, we all practiced in the same hospital. When the priest showed up for the Final Rites and asked are you all Catholic?, Ed said 'Partially'.
The Priest said "What do you mean?" Ed: "We were raised by Jesuits" The Priest and Joe and Ed went to Loyola High School and College and his sisters and Ed and Joe's daughters went to the same Catholic girls' high school during almost the same time. That gave them some comfort.

I am tired of going to appointments and social events!!
Dianne and I sat down today and made up a calender of all the things that we have to do before the end of September. We have 20 events that we have to attend. Almost all of them will be enjoyable, but the sheer number has us both feeling exhausted already!
Retirement is not for the faint of heart!
Cheers!!
MisterBeasley She complains that it's "not that hot," but 92-feels-102 is definitely too hot.
My daughter just checked in from Washington, and it is in the 50s. She is freezing to death! She was not expecting this in September! That is Christmas weather on a cold year.
I'm glad the GF does not bring the dog when we go out. We try to do shopping all at once, so she couldn't take the dog into every store anyway.
I think it's too hot here anyway. She complains that it's "not that hot," but 92-feels-102 is definitely too hot. She thinks I should be fine with the heat, but she won't even walk the dog in this weather.
Good morning everyone. Chloe, I will take a double-patty cheeseburger and a side of hashbrowns.
I slept more than ten hours last night. It has been a while since I slept like a rock for that long of a time.
hon30critterSame with dogs. I witnessed a very scary situation where a German Shepard got separated from its master and the dog went berserk!
I have seen a couple of very scary incidents with dogs myself. I will never get used to seeing them in the stores.
Onward into the day...
Good morning, diners. No breakfast this morning, just coffee.
Congratulations to your daughter, Douglas. She will enjoy Seattle.
It hasn't been a good day so far, so I hope things get better as the day goes along. Just a series of setbacks that have kept me hopping.

Hi Douglas,
Congratulations to your daughter for passing her exams! I'm sure she worked hard.
Got word that my oldest daughter passed her medical boards on her first attempt. She can now be a licensed Physicians Assistant in Washington, and will be establishing permanent residence in Seattle.
Who knows, maybe Kevin's daughter will be one of her patients some day.
