March MR
Posted by Pruitt on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 9:07 AM

Maybe it's my imagination, but the March issue of MR seems a bit "meatier" than those in the recent past (several years).

What I really liked about the issue:

  • There were none of the postage stamp-sized photos that seem to have become the norm;
  • The feature articles seem to be a bit more in-depth than usual;
  • Most stunning of all, there was a scale drawing of a piece rolling stock! At first I thought I was imagining things! I can't remember the last time I saw one of those in MR. Scale drawings used to be a staple of the magazine, but not for a very long time now. Let's see more!

I hope the March issue isn't a one-off, or a fluke. I hope it's a harbinger of things to come. If it is an indicator of a shift in the magazine's direction, it's a great one! The entire editorial staff deserves a pat on the back for this issue.

Thanks for this echo of the days when MR was truly a great magazine. Keep it going, please!

As a card carrying Medicare geezer I spend important quality time each day waiting for the mailman, and fretting when he's late.  Your posting gives me reason to be even more obsessive.  It is likely in today's mail.

Hello All,

Eric White is now at the helm and I suspect this change might not just be a "one-off."

Only time will tell.

Hope this helps.

I've not looked at the issue yet, but the fact that you like it makes me want to stop typing and start reading!  Perhaps others will find the edition interesting.  I was thinking MR could start to do feature articles of different decades.  This is a way to branch folks out from some of the common eras.  Just a thought.
