I broke my arm, had surgery and 6 weeks later was diagnosed with osteomyelitis (bone infection) I was our of work for 2 months and as a solo anesthesiologist practioner, there was no sick pay. No work no pay. A week after I returned to work, I got a jury duty notice. I told them my sob story and they let me off
I did serve on a malpractice panel. That took 3 or 4 days. If body language was enough to convict, the ophtalmologist would have lost, as soon as he walked in. There were two doctors and a lawyer, the later, rightly pointed out that the patient ignored the doctors' advice after surgery and went blind. ]
I'm following a murder case in my old hometown. It made national news because a mother, visiting her son at the Naval Academy, was shot dead, sitting at an outside hotel lounge. The prosecutors claim the defendant was shooting at someone else and killed this poor woman.
The trial is in it's second week!
The problem with many news stories is the title of the story doesn't jive with the text of the story, or they don't tell you what you want to know about the story. The defendant has a defense, but they don't tell you what it is. If it ends in a hung jury or he is found innocent, we will never know why.

Hi Bear,
Thanks,
Dave
I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
Good morning Diners. A coffee on the go please, Janie.

Good morning
Been busy around the building and had to put the layout projects on the back burner...
Thanks for the Scotstrain rides David.
Seems to be "When it Rains it Pours" again around here. Judy can be added to the list as she slipped and fell on the ice, cracking her ribs. Perhaps we should be thankful not a hip. Ribs always seem to heal well but just take their time doing it. As luck may not have it, I've been the most experienced rib cracker of them all and know exactly how she feels. Poor thing

Good Evening,
Dave, hope everything turns out ok for your wife.
Nothing much new here. Our dishwasher is on its last legs. The motor is making a very loud noise but it is 32 years old. We will wait until next summer to consider a replacement. The washer and dryer are old too and clunk a bit. Oh and the kitchen fridge is 40 years old. Mind you the basement fridge lasted 70 years. Everything is old around here including me.
Ran the Nortthern a bit today. It has a nice whistle supposedly recorded from a real U2g.
CN Charlie
CNCharliethe kitchen fridge is 40 years old.
We had our original kitchen fridge for many years too. It wasn't very well designed. When we moved in 1988 the movers could hardly lift the fridge because there was so much ice in the insulation. It left a huge puddle in the moving van. They nearly dropped it bringing it up the stairs into the new house. I'm sure it would have gone straight through the wall! I think there were a few strained muscles that day!
Cheers!!
Glad to hear the improvement with Dianne, Dave.

Good Morning All,
A toasty 19F this morning with the possibility of s**w tomorrow. I'll have a blueberry donut and a regular coffee both to go please. Shop stuff today. I have a frame to touch up and a set of Ford spindles to modify plus some tidy up. We got 19 wheels back from blasting and zyglo yesterday so i have those to box up for shipment to Indy and coatings.
Great to hear good news about Dianne. I hope the rest of you are doing well or at least recovering nicely. Ciao, J.R.
Glad to hear things turned out well for Dianne, Dave. Good news!
Have the day free as the jobs in the building are on hold. Can't get the keys to any of the condos until an owner gets back to me.
Just spending some time with Judy helping her out. Her Doc gave her a note for work and told her to take a week off.
Unfortunate she isn't agile enough for us to head out of town to have some fun. She wanted to go to Bentleyville to see the light display in Duluth this year.

Here is another impressive video of European rotary snow plows in action. This one is working its way up to the Matterhorn. However, despite their impressive performance, apparently they need a little manual assistance sometimes too, and they do have their limitations:

Hello, Dave
I've been curious about how your embedded videos compare to mine and I discovered that somehow yours default to 900 pixels wide while mine are 560. See the codes below for our last two vids:
I wonder if there's a way to set your default frame width to 560? Here's yours with the corrected frame size:
A few pages back I offered instructions to the other Dave to see if he wanted to try to embed YouTube videos but I guess he hasn't had any luck, nor has TF but he is trying to use a telephone to post from so the settings aren't the same.
My telephone has call waiting and redial and that's about the only options available to me.
Good Luck, Ed

You get call waiting to work over there? The first caller is lost in the click over here
Finally learned how to post with the incompatible software.
Ya have to post backwards! Otherwise everything just disappears and even goes offline sometimes. You fetch the links & pics first and then type the text in-between. This works good for now until something else changes
The post a live YouTube video thing from your directions the other day, Not so much yet. Thanks for posting the guidance as it helps from a starting point, but there's always some other trick for it to work from a phone. This technology Neanderthal hasn't found that loophole yet...
PS There's half screen videos posted here frequently. They hide half the text across the screen with them as well. If it's any wonder why things are missed. Try reading half page posts sometime...
Hi all, been super-busy working on the sprinkler installation... more on that in a week or so.
I hope I have not missed anything important in the Diner.
I went to Orlando on Thursday, and saw a terrible sight. Sci-Fi City has permanently closed. Although not a Model Railroad Hobby Shop, it was still an iconic Hobby Shop.
-Photograph by Kevin Parson
They had been in business over 40 years. They started out as "NCC-1701", but changed the name to "Sci-Fi City" when they moved next to The Home Depot in the 1990s.
This place was destination for all things comic and gaming related. It was Richard Borg's hangout. I played countless tournaments there with my daughters through the years.
This really saddens me. Florida has lost Orange Blossom Hobbies (Miami), The Happy Hobo (Tampa), and now Sci-Fi City (Orlando).
Iconic Hobby Shops are becoming way too rare.

Good evening Diners. A glass of Singleton Malt please, Janie.
