An octopus has 8 legs. Does that mean it is an arachnid?
Oh, they’re arms, not legs?
Never mind.
At my daughter's college graduation, the speaker was Senator Angus King of Maine. Yeah, his son (or grandson?) was graduating. For a laugh, he described "politics" as a compound word, with poly meaning many an tics being a lot of crawling insects.
The graduating biologists were upset, and even discussed the matter with him later. Tics have eight legs, and are therefore not insects, but arachnids.

Hi Everyone,
He's baaaack!
"Well I've never been to Spain, but I've been to Oklahoma......," literally.
Took awhile to catch up on all of the posts. Beautiful fall colors pictures. We were down in Oklahoma and came back through my old stomping grounds in Kansas. Unfortunately, we did not go through Salina to the Cozy Inn. Anyway, there were trees with color, but the colors were subdued. As we came north into Illinois, the colors were much more vibrant. They popped. My wife thinks it's a function of the amount of rainfall. I would tend to agree. When we do our fall trips, I often try to pick up a freight car kit from the region I'm visiting. Example: a few years ago, we were in NH for our conference. I was able to pick up an orange New Haven box car kit in Connecticut, something I probably wouldn't have bought otherwise, but I liked it. This year I got an Accurail UP two bay ACF covered hopper. I was kind a hoping for a steam era MKT or MP box car to fit the region, but hey, I'm happy with the purchase.
If we dont allow poly-tics in the diner, do we allow mono-tics or any other kind of tics?

Good morning everyone. Chloe, I think I will have a glazed doughnut as well. Something sweet sounds good this morning, but I will take my coffee black.
Water Level RouteTook my oldest to the doctor yesterday for her recurring medical issue and the doc decided she is not a candidate for surgery again at this time.
This is very good news.
When my middle daughter was young, less than two years old, she had a bad medical condition that kept us very worried. After about 18 months of doctor visits, travelling to specialists in Miami, and hospitals, everything worked out.
York1That's good news -- it must mean that repairs and recovery are progressing. Even at that, it will probably be years before everything returns to normal.
This is just the emergency hurricane supplied that we are clearing out. Generators, fans, extension cords, fuel cans, trash bags, plastic wrap, and so on. We will go back to just normal shelf stock on these items.
The rest of the store is still selling at about double normal amounts.

Good morning, diners. Flo, I'll have bacon, eggs, and black coffee.
It was a cold morning to walk -- a nice change.
Mike, that's good news! It's a nice relief from worry about a child.
Finally, I had a day with nothing scheduled. That was until a few minutes ago.
SeeYou190Now that the hurricane sales are tapering off, we are going to put out Christmas and Black Friday items early.

This looks like a neat place in Ohio, and a great idea for scouts who are earning a different badge:

I'm looking forward to seeing Italy . I'm going with our daughters next June to Italy, Austria, and Germany. They have laid out a sightseeing itenerary that has us staying in certain towns and traveling to the sights by trains. It sounds like a great trip.
With Covid restrictions going away, we are able to take some of these overseas trips we had planned, but never got to take.
Have a great Hump Day, everyone.

Good Morning Diners. Chloe, black coffee and a glazed doughnut please.
Finally some good news. Took my oldest to the doctor yesterday for her recurring medical issue and the doc decided she is not a candidate for surgery again at this time. He wants to see her again just after the first of the year, but right now is confident the current issue can resolve on its own. Happy day!
Next month's destination matters not to me, as I don't have the time to move it myself. I'll be happy wherever it takes us.
Hope everyone is doing well.
Good morning Diners. A coffee on the go, Zoe.
Dave. Wherever the Diner goes I am happy with. Much as I would like to take it around, unfortunately I have a number of challenges to contend with here.
Try and 'call in' later.

I think I have gone through every box of train stuff I own now, resorted it, photographed a lot of the valuable pieces, and carefully repacked it all.
I did not see my twelve piece undecorated Walthers work train set, and I also did not see my two Master Creations kits. This has me worried a bit.
I am wondering where they could be.
NorthBritDave. How about over the coming months a Grand Tour of Europe? Italy one month. France. Germany. Spain, or wherever.
Hi David,
Lots of people seem to like the idea of going to Italy so your suggestion is a logical extension of that theme. What do others think?
Is anyone interested in moving the Diner?
Salute!!
Dave
I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
Hello all, and good evening.
At work, we got rid of all of our Halloween, Fall, and Thanksgiving decorations and seasonal merchandise to make room for hurricane supplies.
Now that the hurricane sales are tapering off, we are going to put out Christmas and Black Friday items early.
Some of the Black Friday deals this year are really good, but I can't talk about them.
Italy sounds good.... I can practice up on my singing and maybe impress some Bella there...

Hi folks!!
The end of the month approaches!! (I always like the end of the month because our bank balance goes way up!!!).
Where would you like to take the Diner to, and who would like to do it? Personally, Dianne and I are going to be doing some entertaining in November and we have chosen to serve some very tasty Italian based meals, so how about taking the Diner to Italy or France so that we can enjoy the incredible cuisine?
Just a suggestion.
Cheers!!
Hi Bear,
I found the Trail Blazer menu to be very interesting, not because of the food items being offered, but because of all the rules regarding placing your order and paying for it that took up 1/4 of the top of the page. Either they were having a huge problem with processing orders, or there was a really anal person in charge of the procedures. Strange!
Thanks for posting it and the wonderful fall themed railway advertising posters.
Good afternoon Diners. A large coffee on the go please, Chloe.
On some posts on other threads I get Forbidden 405. Annoying especially on a long answer.
A busy day playing taxi (unpaid if the taxman reads this ).

Good evening everyone. I hope Chloe can get me a plate of noodles and sauce tonight.
Had a great day today. It could have been very bad with low staffing and call-offs from work, but everyone was in a pretty good mood today, and I just kept it going.

MisterBeasleyI have found that my various diabetes medications work pretty well as sleeping pills. They are designed to lower blood sugar, which makes me dead tired. I think this is why I can't take the daytime ones. They knock me out all day long.
I will have to consider this aand mive my med to PM.
