Stumbled across an interesting video over coffee this morning I thought you might enjoy. Perhaps posted here before, still interesting though.
If you haven't seen it before you may think a little differently next time you send one of those cylinders through the tube at the bank
Have a great day gentlemen

Good morning
One of those double post things here while I was still rubbing the sleep out of my eyes
Advance to the next frame please.
It's about a quarter til 2 am here. Just made a rare quick stop by the diner. You probably know, Kevin, for them to last longer, store your paints upside down. Just thought Id mention it.
Charlie, sorry to hear your wife's having a rough one. It has a ripple effect. Dan
Hello all, and a good evening to everyone.
My order from Minuteman Models arrived today. This is 21 new bottles of Scalecoat II paint. According to my calculations, this should satisfy another lifetime supply requirement.
I will add these to my collection of Scalecoat paints tomorrow.

Living the dream.
Henry, that's an amazing bridge. I've read the stories of the flood -- what a disaster.
I'm not sure I'd want to be the first train engineer to cross on a bridge put together that quickly. I think I'd wait until several other trains tried it out first.

Fall is just starting here in central VA. We drove to WV this past weekend to find better colors.
Not sure if this is true, but on a Facebook site about Cambria Co PA, this bridge was the temporary replacement for the bridge destroyed by the Johnstown Flood. They built it in 5 days.

It seems that the rainy season has stopped early this year down here.
We have not had any appreciable rain in about a week. The humidity is down and overnight temperatures are dipping into the 60s.
I guess I better get to work on finishing the irrigation system.
Good Morning,
Mike, it was scary, just 2 weeks before we left for 3 weeks in Bali. Then a few days before we left one of our Westies wasn't well. She had swallowed a piece of hard rubber from a dog toy and it was in her stomach. She had surgery the day we left to remove it.
A rainy day here. My wife is having a bad day. Sometimes her anxiety and stress seems to boil over. This all started about 4 years ago. Sad to see her like this. Hard to believe sometimes she is the same person I've known for 40 years.
I have completed my Dockside loco on display scene across from the grocery store. It isn't fenced so I hope the kids stay off and it isn't vandalized.
Another coffee is in order. I think it will be a multi cup day.

Pretty interesting drone flight. I just don't like how the guy bothered the engineer though.
Track fiddlerThose Rapido kits look to be very high quality Kevin. Looks like a fun project and Sheldon is a Lucky Dog. I'm happy for him, I'm sure he will appreciate and enjoy them as much as I do mine.
They won't be heading off to Sheldon, they are staying on the SGRR rails!
Sheldon generously sent me a few decal sheets for the ATLANTIC CENTRAL, and I figured they needed a unique boxcar for representation. Then Rapido announced the X31A, and it seemed like the right model to buy. There will also be a couple flat cars and maybe one or two more AC cars on my layout.
I sent Sheldon a couple of SGRR freight cars, and he will receive another one eventually.
I painted this freight car for the ATLANTIC CENTRAL before I joined this forum or knew of Sheldon's railroad.
Man, some prices on used equipment really are out of control!
Good morning, diners. Black coffee, please.
While this isn't a railroad bridge, it is a bridge that crosses railroad tracks.
Our town's one middle school building was near the Burlington tracks. In the 1960s, some kids walking to school tried climbing between the cars of a standing train. The train started and one girl didn't make it. She lived, but lost both legs.
Right after that, the town built this pedestrian bridge at the school. The school was right behind me taking this picture.
Another part of the tragedy was that, at the time of the accident, there was a pedestrian crossing under the tracks just two blocks away.
It's raining this morning. The outdoor projects will have to wait.
Water Level Route TF, did Judy make you use a trash bag for a pillow case to keep the smell out of the bedding? Diesel smell is bad enough on your skin. I can't imagine trying to get it out of your hair. Maybe time for a REALLY short haircut!

CNCharlieInfections can be scary. My wife got one after a minor bit of surgery near her navel. We went to the ER and a surgeon took one look, had her on a table and opened up the incision without any freezing to clean it out while 2 nurses held her. She was on a drip anti-biotic every 8 hours for a week.
BATMANMike, hope your daughter gets her medical issues behind her soon, she must be quite tired of the whole thing by now.
Ed, neat video. I've always liked the look of European steam.
Kevin, keep us posted on the cars. I bet they'll look great.
Lion, be careful with the walker and debris on the trainroom floor. Last thing we need is our resident lion getting run over by a subway train.
Howmus, good luck with the flooding. Hopefully the water seepage in your basement stops. And hopefully your family stays dry too.
Brent, cat-apult. Love it!
York John, really neat looking little bridge!
North Brit David, normally you are here before I am. Hope all is well.
Everyone else (HOn3 critter Dave, JR, MLC, etc) not forgetting you guys.
Have a good day everyone!
Mike
Looks like some fine scratch built bridge fabrication you have going on there Ray

Enjoyed watching the traction video this morning over coffee Ed. Similar to us getting our vehicle stuck in the snow and ice. One has to go easy not to spin the wheels. One difference, ...At least the Steamer doesn't dig-in and has another try.
Looks like I'm not the only one that became afraid of heights and falling.
Good to see you Dave
Bridge month is winding down so here's some more.
The best lift bridge to have a burger and a beer in Prescott Wisconsin.
The new cable suspension bridge the second of its kind in Stillwater Minnesota.

Too Steep — Too wet:
I see the sand pipes, but no sand? Box empty? Note the dual brake shoes on the drivers. A detail of German (perhaps other European) locomotives I've never noticed before.
I hope everyone recovers soon. Seems like lots of folks here are having a rough go at it.
Regards, Ed
Track fiddlerSomewhere along the way I became afraid of heights.
Hi TF,
I went through the same thing. In my younger years I could walk along the edge of a roof no problem. Now I won't even go on a roof!
Dave
I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
Track fiddlerSomewhere along the way I became afraid of heights
I became deathly afraid of falling at some point. I don't know exactly when.
When I was young, I could dive off of a 10M platform with no fear. Now I can't even go out to the edge of a 10M platform!
York1The thing that stands out is that this is the only stone bridge like this in a fairly large area. We don't have any stone (at all) in our area, so this had to be brought in, probably from Kansas. Our local historical society has some images of this bridge and other parts of the railroad's presence in the town.
John, That is a beautiful bridge. I saved that picture to my idea file. My idea file might have too many ideas in it now!
BroadwayLionElevator or no elevator I did get up to the train room on Sunday,
Glad to hear you at least made it back to the train room. I sure do hope things get better for you.
howmus I uploaded some in progress shots of the small deck bridge for your enjoyment.
Ray, Thank you for sharing those pictures. I love seeing projects as they come along.
My Rapido X31A PRR Boxcars arrived today.
I bought two with single doors and one with double doors. These will eventually be painted and decorated for Sheldon's ATLANTIC CENTRAL.
Overall, the bodies look pretty good. The modling is very clean, and I did not see any parting lines or flash anywhere.
These are definitely kits. The trucks and couplers came installed, but nothing else. I was going to try to inventory the parts, but changed my mind.
These are definitely getting Kadee grab irons and A-line sill steps. A lot of these pieces seem very fragile.
There are no instructions, just an exploded drawing. This is going to be fun to figure out. Overall, it looks about like assembling a Westerfield One-Piece-Body boxcar kit, and I have built several of those.
Track fiddlerMan that is one cool Bridge with the underpass leading to the tunnel Ray! Very impressive as it makes me want to go walk down there but it looks rather dangerousLaugh Great modeling
Thanks for your kind words, TF! Since I am pretty much stuck in the house at the moment.... I uploaded some in progress shots of the small deck bridge for your enjoyment.
And checking the project out before permanently mounting in the scene...
Enjoy! (Tomorrow I hope to put up some photos of creating the other bridge....)

Yeah it gets a little vinder over here too Brent. Those strong gusts when you're trying to walk and they almost blow you over start making me almost angry. And no matter how I squint I always seem to get crap in my eyes.
Not a Big Fan of the wind over here! No pun intended
So get this. I was finishing getting my truck all ready for the winter again like I do every Fall. One of the projects this year was I noticed my truck bed was low way over a half inch by the cab on both sides. I thought I should probably crawl under there and fix that before it gets worst.
You know, you have seen one of those old trucks going down the road that looks like it has a broken back like an old service horse
So as I was saying one of the projects this fall was to grind off the bed connecting bolts, jack the bed up and put some C-channel in there, re-drill the holes and tighten up some new bolts.
It all worked really good but I decided to crawl under there today and put some rubberized undercoating all over it so the Minnesota salt doesn't eat it again this winter.
My hat flipped off under their of course and I got rubberized undercoating in my hair. Not a little but a lot
It came out really good with some lamp-oil though. I can hardly wait to see Judy when I pick her up from work soon.
Even after a shower I still smell like diesel, Strong! She's going to love me now that I smell like a real man
Well...... A DEEP subject!
I just got a weather warning on my cell phone from Ontario County! Geneva, NY (and Seneca County next door, where my son and his family live) are now under a Flash Flood Warning! We are told to shelter in place unless we are in danger of being overwhelmed by deep water...... I will be fine as I live up at the top of the hill that slopes gently down to Seneca Lake. I am about 75 to 100 feet above the lake level but most of Geneva is right on the lake.... My son is more likely to have possible problems as they are only about 15 feet above the level of the lake where they live in Seneca County.
We have gotten over 2 inches of rain today (mostly this afternoon) and the water is running down the hill on my side street covering the entire street. The storm sewer it drains into is overwhelmed a bit so the water is running as a sheet down towards rthe playground and park behind the Baseball field (we have a Farm League team here). I have lots of propane in 20 lb. tanks and my generator is on the back porch under cover. I should be fine....
I have had water oozing in the basement all day. Will keep checking and make sure the sump is doing it's job. (That is one of the items I have the generator for in an emergency.....)
Edit! On the Rochester news.... The Railroad underpass near the bridge I showed the photo of here yesterday is ..... Flooded! Rt. 96 which is the main route the old tracks run beside is closed for a few miles for both directions where the underpass is located.
BroadwayLionThe elevator was working, but now it is not working
Knowing your fondness for felines, have you ever thought of using a cat apult to access the second floor? Sorry, couldn't resist.

"All of the world's problems are the result of the difference between how we think and how the world works."
Good afternoon diners from a soggy West Coast.
We survived the blow yesterday with only a three-hour loss of power. I didn't even turn on the generator. I had an appointment that I couldn't miss but I did not like being out in the wind and took shelter a couple of times as I was worried about projectiles impaling me. All the trees I posted in the photo are now completely naked. The John Deere has its work cut out for it as the leaves are knee-deep. They will be vapourized but it may take more than one pass this time.
Kevin, those climbing walls are a blast and will keep you in very good shape. Arthritis in my hands makes them unreliable for doing such things these days. I took a five-day rock climbing course in the 1970s and had a blast. I really liked repelling a lot. Right after the rock climbing course, I learned to hang glide. I guess heights were never an issue for me.
I had installed a bunch of new cabinets in the laundry room and the wife ordered handles to match the kitchen. I finally got around to installing them. I built a jig so I got every hole perfectly placed, they look good.
Mike, hope your daughter gets her medical issues behind her soon, she must be quite tired of the whole thing by now.
Garry here is hoping you get back on track as well. Keep us posted.
I feel bad for Alec Baldwin and that accidental shooting on set. Sounds like safety was not taken seriously. The kid did a couple of movies where he ran through a pyrotechnical extravaganza as they called it. He had a flameproof suit under his costume and they put covers over his eyes to protect them that the camera cannot pick up. He was also covered in a jell on his exposed skin and hair. They rehearsed over and over again before the cameras rolled. The fire department was there as were full medical. He said there was nothing to it really after all the prep work. He made really good money on those days.
TF, that is cool the Stones are rolling through. Just because of circumstances I have chatted with a lot of celebrities over the years at the airport while at work, and have seen a lot of world leaders up close as well and dealt personally with ministers and chiefs of staff, etc. If you saw leaders getting off the plane in Vancouver I was sometimes one of those people loitering in the background you see on TV. I was there if needed but rarely needed
If you ever watched the TV show Supernatural the door to the man of letters bunker is under the rail bridge on the far side.
All the best to all.
We seem to be doing bridges this month.
From North Dakota, the state's only draw bridge.
Oh yeah... The elevator was working, but now it is not working, but the repair man is here.
Elevator or no elevator I did get uop to the train room on Sunday, I'll have to bring someone up there to clean up the floors for me so that I can at least walk around with out falling over on something. My stqability has gone down hill, and I need to use a wlaker to get aroundl Getting older I presume.

Good afternoon, diners! Chloe, I'll have a hamburger, fries, and some onion rings for lunch.
Mike (daughter) and Garry, remembering both of you. Prayers.
The old Fremont, Elkhorn, and Missouri Valley RR came through our town in the 1870s. They built this short bridge over a small creek.
The thing that stands out is that this is the only stone bridge like this in a fairly large area. We don't have any stone (at all) in our area, so this had to be brought in, probably from Kansas. Our local historical society has some images of this bridge and other parts of the railroad's presence in the town.
The RR is long gone and this small bridge in now on university land. You can see there's a frisbie golf net on top.
There are remnants of the old train bed visible in parts of the town, but most of the ROW has changed so much you would never know a railroad ran there.
Once again, I appreciate of you fellow diners for your friendship. Everyone have a good day.
I have never thought rap as being music, chanting maybe but no notes, no music. I prefer silence to rap.
Ray, are you sure those bridge photos are on your layout. Sure looks like 1:1 to me.
We are having strange weather here, should hit 55F today . The leaves on our crabapple are still mostly green.
Mike, hope your daughter gets well soon. Infections can be scary. My wife got one after a minor bit of surgery near her navel. We went to the ER and a surgeon took one look, had her on a table and opened up the incision without any freezing to clean it out while 2 nurses held her. She was on a drip anti-biotic every 8 hours for a week.
Lunch time,
SeeYou190 I got terrified about half way up and made my way back down.
I got terrified about half way up and made my way back down.
In the late 60s there was a song by The Hombres called Let it All Hang Out. It was a lot of disconnected nonsense with no coherent melody, just some tedious background guitar work. Although most characteristics of rap were absent, particularly the swearing and sexual references, it had many hallmarks of rap and preceded anything else I can think of.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
Water Level Route I always thought that looked fun, but never got the opportunity to try it.
One year, a long time ago, me and my two youngest daughters tried climbing a rock wall. At the top there was an obstacle course you could go through.
They both went to the top, through the obstacles, and repelled down the other side.
Your daughter's infection sounds terrible. I am so sorry she is going through this. Nothing hurt my heart more than seeing one of my babies in pain.
Track fiddlerAlthough Mick Jagger's song "Walk This Way" was the first rap song unintentionally, whether the rappers would like to admit it or not
Track fiddlerWait a minute.... That was Steven Tyler of Aerosmith
I don't think very many people consider the 1975 Toys In The Attic recording of Walk This Way a rap song. Heck, a lot of people are reluctant to call the 1986 Run/D.M.C. version a rap song.
These are the three songs that usually get mentioned as the first rap song:
Rappers Delight by Sugarhill Gang (1979)
King Tim III by The Fatback Band (1979)
Rapture by Blondie (1980)
I remember in middle school and high school I thought Debbie Harry was so hot. Then I found out she was the same age as my mother!
She was 35 years old when Autoamerican was released!
Hmmm. that seems young now.
There were also many underground and independent rap songs performed by Coke La Rock going back to 1973, but none of these were commercially released. Coke La Rock is widely considered the founding father of rap music.
There are also a few recordings that contain spoke word sections that some people have tried to pass off as the first rap song. I remember reading an online article where someone claimed Chantilly Lace by The Big Bopper was a rap song!
Nope.
Mornin,
We getting some massive precipitation today. Somewhere around 2+ inches they say.
Track fiddlerRay's short bridge I promised
I like! BTW, I was errant in not saying that I have used the measurments I got when photographing and checking out the bridge I posted twice, actually. Below is the first one I scratch built using the info:
Here is the Curved Bridge I made. I had to make the bridge wider and a bit heavier for this one.
I know I have some other photos of it but don't have them in Imgur, I guess. Earned Merit Awards on both of them towards my Structures Certificate for the NMRA.
Will have to find some better photos of the second bridge.....
Prayers going out for all of you folks in need!
