David I'm sorry medicine has failed your family. You may not know I am a retired Anesthetist in Brit Speak.
My retired colleagues are appalled at the corporatization of medicine. How hospitals have escaped anti-trust lawsuits is beyond us. As retired physicians, wew are passed off to physicians assistants or nurse practioners who are still wet behind the ears and don't get to see our surgeon, post op.
If things happen in 3's I have one more coming. The clothes washer stopped with an alarm low water pressure. The manual written in several languages said clean the water filters. No mention of where the water filters are or how to get them. out. Youtube search says they are where the water hose attaches and you pull them straight out.
The washer sits in a plastic tub, and I could not move it away from the wall. I fished around with needle nose pliers and poked a hole in one filter. They didn't looked clogged (8 months old) but we did have a water main problem last week in the neighborhood. Ordered new filters from Amazon.
Called the riding lawn mower shop that has had my mower for 2.5 weeks. No compression, and it's not the valves. They need some authorization from Cub Cadet to tear it down more, have no parts and have never seen a mower with low hours blow the motor.
Maybe #3 has already happened. We had a frost 2 weeks ago and it killed some of the leaves on the Japanese maples. Now the dogwoods are looking sickly.

Good evening
I don't know where the day went today but it sure went. It seems like just a few hours ago I was posting this morning and now I'm posting here again over 9 hours later. Don't seem like that at all.
It was another beautiful day so I went out after lunch and cut frame members to size and milled the datos for the cabinet shelving for my layout. It's already starting to cloud up and the rains are moving in from the south for a couple days. I guess we're a bit behind this month and could use it.
It's almost time to go get Judy from work. I've been dropping her off and picking her up in my truck for man years. Just because I don't have a truck today, it doesn't feel right to not pick her up so I'm going to walk back up there in a little while.
She has one of those programs on her phone on how many steps you do in a day. She said we did 4483 steps this morning. She's going to be tired tonight so I think I'll make her those beef hot dogs rolled up in the croissants baked in the oven and then the chili and cheese put on top for the last 5 minutes
Have a good evening everyone

CNCharlie Good Morning, Another hot day here as in 85F. Supposed to cool off tomorrow with several days of rain. Sure hope so as we are in drought conditions now. We are finally getting some migrant birds coming through. Had 25 species yesterday. I have to pick up more bird seed today. Nothing new here. In the dog house again. CN Charlie
Good Morning,
Another hot day here as in 85F. Supposed to cool off tomorrow with several days of rain. Sure hope so as we are in drought conditions now.
We are finally getting some migrant birds coming through. Had 25 species yesterday. I have to pick up more bird seed today.
Nothing new here. In the dog house again.

I've been thinking of you -- I hope things even out soon. Even if not, you have a set of good friends on this forum. Not quite the same, but you're not alone.
We, too, have been having a lot of birds. My wife has been working all morning on the hummingbird feeder -- we got our first one today. The Orioles are here in force, and they are such a brilliant orange color in the trees.

Good morning, everyone. Cool and rainy today. A perfect day to sit with coffee in the diner and pass the time.
Garry, that's a beautiful picture of the lake out your back yard. What a great place for your house!
David, it's too bad about the cruise industry. I think it will take quite a while for it to recover (in the U.S., anyway). My wife has decided she does not want to go again. Cruising is not for everyone. One of my best was the inside passage from Vancouver to Seward, Alaska. Eating breakfast on deck in the ice cold weather as the whales swam along -- it's hard to beat that type of cruise. It was also nice to get off that ship and get onto the White Pass & Yukon train.
PMRailfan, your ideas sound like fun. I'm too lazy. Our school has the lazy man's way out -- the cheerleaders raise money by getting hired to put out 100 plastic pink flamingos on someone's lawn at night. It's quite a sight to wake up and see that in your frontyard.
Henry, I didn't know anything about sourdough bread until I visited Alaska. One place claimed they use the original sourdough that was started in 1905(?).
Ed, growing up with that in your frontyard -- I can see why you are a railroad fan. What a fun thing to build.
Mike, I can only hope lumber prices come down by next year. I've read some reports that don't think it will happen.
TF, good luck with the truck. I'm the same way -- I will drive my Dodge until I falls completely apart. That hemi is still going strong 20 years later with no major work.
Kevin, hope your trip plans are coming along. Will you finish the house project before you leave? It would be nice to come home to a finished house after the long trip.
Not much else going on here in flyover country. The corn is mostly planted, and the rains are welcomed by all the area farmers. No one is required to wear a mask, and people are happy to be out and about. It's time to take Daisy the Dachshund out.
For everyone that I didn't mention, and to those I did, I hope you have a happy day today.
Good morning
That sure is a neat yard layout your dad and you did when you were a Kid Ed I was checking out the New York Central going through the driveway wondering how your dad cut through for the tracks and repaved the repair. The zoom-in didn't tell me anything
Makes me want to never complain about the cost of our railroad hobby again. It looks like one would almost have to take a second out on the house to pay for that kind of running equipment, .....Wow!
Enjoyed our stop in the little town of Bethlehem this morning and glad Oscar made it home okay
My truck out of nowhere would not start again yesterday and was towed over to Damien's, my mechanics house. The fuel pump is in the gas tank on that one. I call it the PP Clause. It's either parts or payments. My Ram is getting rather old so it's been parts lately
Looks like I'll be walking Judy to work this morning. That's okay, I could use a good walk in the morning anyway
Good morning everyone. Chloe, can I get a large coffee and a small pecan roll please? Not much happening on the train front lately. Been busy with outdoor projects now that the weather is finally getting nice outside. Debating on which additional big project(s) I want to tackle this year. Lumber prices are postponing my plans to rebuild my deck, so that's out. It needs rebuilding, but not bad enough to force it this year. Maybe I'll run my backyard irrigation this year. Not sure. The front had it installed already when we moved in, and the controller has enough zones to be able to do the back as well. We shall see.
Have a great day guys!
Mike
Good Morning from Bethlehem:
Bethlehem_LVRR by Edmund, on Flickr
I recall being in Bethlehem for a 1970 NRHS convention and fan trip on the Lehigh Valley. It was great fun and my dad visited a fellow that made castings and parts for Backyard Railroads, The Bethlehem Model Co.. He bought parts and rail to get started on a 7½" gauge railroad on our city-sized lot.
I had loads of fun on that railroad.

I hope everyone is well.
Oscar the cat returns home today from his "Procedure". I'll be glad to see him again. He spent the night before confined to the garage and he sprayed it up pretty good but I can't find where (used a UV light which usually finds the offending spot). I'll have to clean things out and hose 'er down.

Some nice old newsreel here.

Good morning Diners. The usual Tea and Toast, please, Brunhilda.
A day of sunshine and showers; probably together.
Henry Not wishing to be Political I have a deep distrust with a large part of the NHS.
Just to answer your question "Do they not cover pre-existing conditions?" Yes they do (in most cases.) Most Doctors (about 98%) do not recognise Dawn's condition. (Yet 28% of women and 3% of men in the world have it) As for what they did to my Mother ---
I'll say no more.
Ken. I hope you are feeling much better and see you in the Diner soon.
I have a zoom meeting with my Ships and Shipping colleagues tonite, so the planned dinner of Parissienne Chicken will be made at lunchtime.
The salad planned for lunch will now be had at dinnertime.

PM RailfanI figure no sneaking involved, we will pull our dastardly deed while hes on that round the world vaca hes planning.
My nephew will be house-sitting for us. You better sneak VERY carefully!
PM RailfanWe'll wear construction garb so the neighbors will think were him just doing more work round the homestead.
If it is not me doing the work, that will raise lots of suspicion amongst the neighbors.

Hello Railfans!
Top of the day to yas!
Hey John) I was thinking ( ), the Klingon sash.... and a mohawk! We could get one of those off the top of Kevins motorcycle helmet.
We should also make the eyes glow and put on a coal minors headlamp. The 3 lights would be in keeping with todays train motif of a headlight above two ugly ditchlights. Hed appreciate that, hes a Railfan.
Im torn though betwixt a Scottish Kilt or a Hawiian Muu U Muu U? (Those are the hawiian shirts the females wear. Except they are one piece and full length, i just cant spell it.) Maybe just a grass skirt and two coconut halfs on a string?
I figure no sneaking involved, we will pull our dastardly deed while hes on that round the world vaca hes planning. We'll wear construction garb so the neighbors will think were him just doing more work round the homestead. But since i dont drink, youll have to be the one playing the drunkard.
How about a "Its a boy/girl" sign in the front yard. We both know he likes kids. Imagine his suprise to come home and find out Mrs S&G is expecting. Ofcourse, she will return the same look back to him as they pull in the driveway as in WT*??? Id love to be a fly on the fuzzy dice hanging from his rear view and catch those expressions!
Seriously though, you think we can pull this off without him knowing its us? Is there a way we can 'frame' the bridge guy (pun intended - YES! [Bonus points])?
We could leave paw prints behind like those Bigfoot impressionists do, and hed think it was the Lion or Bear. Dont know if hed really buy that one though.... they only have hairless cats (iguanas) and walking suitcases (gators, not polititions) where hes at. Either way, Id like to keep PM Railfan standing for what it does, not Pretty Mutilated Railfan. Your farther away, hed have to take a hit out on you. And i dont think i ever heard of a contract on a Railfan before.
So please dont tell Kevin - Itll be a suprise! Got any more ideas?
Signed,
Cletus

NorthBrit What did I miss? What did I miss?
You missed nothing at all. Early in the morning there are Users Online with pictures of beautiful women, sometimes advertising escort services, sometimes professional writing courses. Clicking on their links is probably the surest way to get a virus.
I never have been on a cruise. I would like to see Alaska or maybe cruise on one of those old Maine schooners.
We don't hear much about the National Health Service on this side of the pond. Do they not cover pre-existing conditions?
My niece in law makes her own sourdough bread. She said she would give me some "starter" a fermented flour liquid that is used to make the bread. My wife visits her and her mother that lives a few doors down quite frequently. There is always a reason why my wife doesn't bring the starter. She forgot, the niece was working, she was busy with her baby.
We were invited to dinner and the niece asked "How'd the starter work out?"
"Ahhhh what starter?" My wife decided sourdough was too much work and didn't tell me she brought some home a month ago.
This was my reaction.
Little Timmy WOW!!! Anybody else notice the new member online ??? It's an escort service in the UK. Cant wait ti see what she will say .....

Good morning ....
John Y1 ...... Bowling Green is a beautiful small city. They have a small railroad museum at the former L&N depot with an L&N E8 and short passenger train on display. Not far from Bowling Green is Mammoth Cave. We are about 100 miles west of Bowling Green.
Yes, there are many trees throughout Kentucky. We see the sunset each night from our house looking over the lake.
This picture was last July as the sun was setting with a partly cloudy sky.
Everybody .... have a nice day.

I saw her photo this morning. It's too bad, it looks like she disappeared again.

Good morning, everyone. Bacon, eggs, and coffee.
I have a trip to the physical therapist for some more pain infliction, and then a free day.
CNCharlie, I haven't seen that PBS show. My wife's father's family was from Norway. I heard a lot of stories of their adventures of moving to North Dakota. It seemed like every Norwegian I met believed they were related to the Norwegian royal family.
PM Railfan, I had the same plans when I saw Kevin's statue in his front yard. One night we will sneak over there and decorate it somehow. The Klingon sash sounds good.
Brent, enjoy the ribs. I love just about any kind of meat, but I'm not a big ribs fan. I'm not sure why, we ate them as kids, but I've never enjoyed the mess.
Kevin, your temperatures aren't that bad, it's your humidity that is the killer. I remember rain puddles in Florida that never evaporated. As much as we spend time inside during the winter, I'll bet you guys spend your summers indoors. That picture of the L&N locomotive is another reminder of the way trains are supposed to look.
Garry, did your area finish all the storm cleanup? I know Kentucky is covered with trees, so I imagine those huge storms really cause weeks of cleanup. My wife's parents moved to Kentucky late in life, and they said they never saw the sunset because their area around Bowling Green was completely covered with tall trees.
David, I also love ships. We took a lot of cruises when we lived in the south, but unfortunately we have not had one in a long time. My wife got out of the mood to travel. I always wanted to take that around-the-world cruise, but that will not happen.
I know that some of the diners have health conditions, family issues, etc. Hope today will be a better one for everyone.
Good morning Diners. Tea and toast please, Flo.
Icy cold rain is falling. Say no more.
Ken. Whereever you are stay positive. Hope to hear from you soon.
CN Charlie. When we were in Haugesund, Norway we saw the Royal Yacht. On board was Queen Sonya.
Taking pictures of ships is a main hobby of mine.
Here is a picture of HNoMY Norge as she passed us. Sorry about the picture quality. The weather was not good with squally rain dampening the proceedings.
Another busy day ahead. May run some trains later.

Good evening ....
John York 1 ..... Yes, definately, your daughters should cancel that trip. No doubt.
Kevin ..... You are welcome. One other hint about Zehnders. The server probably will allow you take out your leftovers including chicken pieces in containers. Sometimes, we have ordered another platter of chicken when we were too full to eat it. That way we had it to take out.
Ken..... We miss you.
My current project is to make some coke loads for my 6 coke hoppers. Until now, my coke hoppers have been run with no loads in them.
Everybody: ..... Have a nice night.
PM RailfanKevin, if you say anything bout it being 80 where your at, imma hang a "Free Hot Dogs - Open 24hrs" sign around your knights neck.
80... we left the 80s behind a few weeks ago.
It was a good day today with perfect weather, got a lot of heavy work done around the house and I just finished burning 1500 calories on the bike. I came out from my ride to see the wife preparing a mountain of ribs!
I have not eaten a thing today and I am going to pig out like a ravenous caveman!
All the best to all.
Talk about low-quality firewood.

Top of the morning to yas! Reading right along (pun intended) I see most are doing well. I also notice yall are still enjoying winter type weather. Whats with that anyways? Its the middle of the year already and summer isnt even on the horizon yet!
(and Kevin, if you say anything bout it being 80 where your at, imma hang a "Free Hot Dogs - Open 24hrs" sign around your knights neck [though a Klingon sash would look better])
Critter Dave) Happy belated Birthday! What was that you said?... 67 down, 90 more to go? Best wishes my friend! Any cake left?
Ed) "Power steering, hydraulic deck lift, fuel injection, hi-back bucket seat. I may not give up the Deere anytime soon"
What, no radar anti-wheel slip? no in-cab ptc displays? no dynamic brakes? Did you even get a FRED incase you have to travel on a street.... or do you plan to wave back?
Some Railfan you are!
John York) "... would never guess we needed railroad bridges this high."
I think the bridge guy must be rubbing off on us. Ive had that thought too. It also amazed me that in that time, we could actually do it. And it held up a train!
Those were really good 'ole timey' shots. I not only like seeing the bridge, but the ways they built them - over obstacles like valleys or rivers.
In general) Nothing here to report on. Not much going on at the moment train wise. Matter of fact i dont think ive done anything in a week or so.
Have a great evening everyone!
Clear Ahead!

Good Afternoon,
Bear, ah the Vauxhall Velox! I remember those. The Victor model was quite popular in Canada late '50s/early 60s. They quit selling Vauxhalls here in '69 , the Epic was rhe last. I remember test driving a new Epic GT with the twin carb 2 litre engine. It was a very pepppy car but Epics didn't have a good quality reputation so I decided against it.
A warm day here, about 72F and hopefully a shower. I see my wife has tended the plants which is a good sign. I'll just leave her alone today.
I'm watching the PBS series Atlantic Crossing about the Norwegian royal family at the outbreak of WWII. It is well done and I like that the actors speak Norwegian with subtitles. We have it on the pvr. I stayed up late last night watching and drinking tea with honey. My Mother's grandparents were from Norway.

Good morning, diners. It's donut Sunday!
With my knee hurting, I'm a little jealous of you guys with your riding mowers. It's rainy today, so I don't have to think about the grass, other than to dream of astroturf.
It's graduation time in our area. This year, I just mailed cards to all the students except for one who we visited.
My daughters are planning a trip together to Israel this month. My oldest daughter called and said they're not positive, but it looks like the trip will be canceled. The parents are breathing a little easier.
Have a good Sunday, everyone. I continue to think of you diners who have illnesses and other issues you are dealing with.
Good morning Diners. Another wet and misrable looking day. Icy blasts from the North. A day to stay indoors which I will. A busy day with jobs to do, so cannot stop long.
Morris Oxfords and Austin Cambridges. Those were the days.
Will be back later (hopefully).
CNCharlieThat was 1955 and the trip was made in a '51 Morris Oxford... ...Not a great car...
Heartland Division CB&QI just called Zehnders in Frankenmuth. Good news is indoor dining is now available . They must follow rules however. Face masks and social distancing are required. The Cow Path room is open but seating in it is hard to get. They do take reservations, and I suggest you call ahead for that.
Garry, Thank you for all of that information, and for doing the research to find all of this out.
I am looking forward to trying the best chicken ever!
Heartland Division CB&QKevin .... Speaking of road trips, I think yours has begun. Enjoy it.
Not quite yet, just a couple of more weeks.
