My med school alumni magazine ran a story about my resident and intern when I was doing an internal medicine rotation.  They were married in med school, having met over a body in anatomy class.  I did not realize he was diagnosed with MS while in college.

He became a dermatologist and she became a radiologist, but gave up her practice to do dermatologic biopsies and surgery because he could not.  \

I eventually went to see him, professionally, because I had fallen victim to a quack who found something to biopsy every 3 months.

He was in a wheel chair at the time and I went to shake his hand.  His hand did not move.

He and his wife are retired and happily married.

Ricky .... In my opinion, nothing you said was offensive. I recall Steve O had guidelines posted pertaining to discussions about Covid 19. .. He took down the post with those guidlines several months ago. So, now I think common sense governs those conversations. Basically, we try not to start arguments about it. I don't think you tried to start any argumnts, and therefore, your post is okay.

Totally agree with this Ricky, this is a difficult situation we are in and sometimes we need to be clear about our care for others.  Thank you.

Now, who is going to start the "were is...thread"?  We are missing a lot of regular contributors.

Good afternoon from the still sunny Pacific Rim.

Ricky, I saw nothing wrong with what you said, we all tell of things that happen in our day-to-day lives.

I felt slightly achy and shakey overnight from the vaccine but all is good now. I am somewhat relieved to be with the vaccinated lot and in a couple of weeks when it really kicks in will really feel more protected.

Had a long talk with an Attorney and Banker in Pennsylvania this morning. The Estate I am looking after had set up a charitable trust for a charity as per the wishes of the deceased. The recipient does not want installment funds from a trust they want the whole trust fund just given to them.Hmm It was set up in an antiquated way decades ago and going to be hard to manage for the bank so I think I will just let them have it. Their greedy behavior is quite something to behold though. We have to get the PA Attorney General to okay it as it is a charity but should get it cleared. I really regret taking on this job.

Went down in the crawlspace and started replacing the rat-torn insulation and ran out, one more bag of Batts should be enough. Glad I got the little ********* before he did even more damage. It was the dogs that told us the rat had crossed the neutral zone.Laugh If not for them who knows what I would have found down there.

Kevin, nice work on the house and I think a small garden layout is really nice to enjoy while sitting out having a BeerDrinksCoffee Two of my friends have highly detailed loops by their back patios with maybe 50' of track and I just love watching the train ply its way around the loop while we sit and chat.

Sure wish we could hear from the MIAs. Brother Lion has not roared for quite a while, community living is not the greatest in covid times. I hope all is well at the monastery. They have a FB page I believe, I have looked at their website as well but cannot remember what it is called right now to check again. I hope Ken is still on the mend.

My daughter got her driver's license so she is insured on the truck. People always ask me if I want to sell it as it has the 7.3ltr diesel in it and now she is getting chased down by guys wanting to buy it and then they hit on her after she says it belongs to Dad. I think I need to buy her something else to drive.Laugh

Hung up all the blinds outside to hose them down before we rehang them. We decided we need new blinds.Indifferent Gives the wife something else to do. What's a few hundred more when we have spent so much on the kitchen already. Old worn-out blinds are a non-starter.

Canucks are on tonight, I have rum, it is a beautiful warm evening, life is perfect.

All the best to all.

I got very little done on the house today. I did manage to make a little bit of forward progress on the control manifold for the irrigation system.

Then, my middle daughter called and told us she was pregnant! It looks like some time around Christmas I will finally be joining the Grandpa club!

Big Smile

I have not been able to do anything since then. I am so thrilled. I really expected to be a Grandfather 20 years ago, but my oldest did not deliver, and her two younger sisters had no interest in families.

I guess since she bought that huge house she needed a little baby to make it into a home.

I don't know exactly why this news stopped all my work today, but I just could not get going again.

Good morning

David, good morning, I see you just posted some more Scottish goodies.  Thank you as they're always appreciated and enjoyed.

Congrats Kevin!  You're going to love being a Grandpa.  I sure do!  My three grandsons range from almost 18 to almost 2.

Our new recruit Xavier (Xav) One forgets what cute is until another family youngster shows up

I get to watch my oldest Grandson Anthony graduate from high school and see Xav in June.  Corona or not, I ain't missing that for the world.  Just the absence of hugs is all.

Have a great day gentlemanWink

Congratulations Kevin!  That is truely exciting news.

Happy Friday everyone!  Sure am glad it's the end of the week.  Unfortunately, I have a very busy weekend ahead so it will go too quickly.  Oh well.  I'm fortunate to be able to do all the things I need to this weekend.

Went on a bit of a locomotive buying binge over the last couple weeks.  Two new to me mikados and an F3 A/B pair.  Only the F3's need decoders, so that's good.  I needed more freight locomotives as the caboose track filled up.  What a great problem to have! Smile, Wink & Grin

A little sugar rush to get everyone's day started.

Cheers everyone!

Good morning, diners.  Flo, I'll have bacon, eggs, hash browns (with onions), and coffee.

Congratulations, Kevin.  Some (unasked for) advice:  if you have any places you've always wanted to see, do it now.  Since your kids live away from you, once the grandchildren come, your trips will be to visit them.  Personal experience!

Not sure what I will do today -- tomorrow we will take off to see the youngest grandchild who is five months old.

I don't like controversy.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning fellow diners.

Thank you for all the congratulations, advice, musings, and well-wishes for my growing family.

It has now been 24 hours since I heard the news, and this has changed me. Amazing. Having a grandchild is all I can think about.

It is hard to live further apart than we do. I live in South Florida, and she lives in Northwest Washington state. Many of my thoughts have revolved around devious plans to get her to mave back to Florida. When I joined this forum, all three girls lived in Orlando, and that was perfect. Now they live in (or near) Chicago, Los Angeles, and Seattle.

I really need to get out of this chair and go work on the house.

Good afternoon all.

Zoe - A Coke float please. Thanks.

Kevin - CONGRATS!

All - Maybe I'm a bit sensitive to people getting upset over how I handled that experience. A few people who I considered friends felt that my requiring respect at that employer was not right, and one who I considered a good friend did as well. Seems they got mad that I left to simply collect unemployment.

The fact I had another job already didn't matter.

Can't figure why they are mad over my quiting a place they had zero invested in.

So I may have jumped back to defending my actions.

Birds - Had an eagle out today, but I was driving running errands, so no pics. The Goshawk was around yesterday, but was again in flight, so by the time I grabbed my camera, he of course was no longer nearby for pictures. I need to just hang around outside after it's a bit warmer out there to catch him I think.

Sorry to see and hear about Randy.

Ken, Rob, Lion, Others MIA - You are missed.

Hope all are well, and all enjoy the day.

I too am bummed at the news of Randy and everyday someone is MIA the feelings become more ominious.

I would really like to plant some seedlings in my vegetable garden but the neighbors tell me we could have frost for another month.

We have just a few area farmers who have started planting.  Normally, in our area, the planting doesn't get started until the last week in April.  There are always a few who go earlier, but usually there's no need to rush things.

That's what my wife does and then puts them in these planters I made last year.. I

Good afternoon from the sunny West Coast.

Had to take the wife into Vancouver to a Hospital for a very specialized procedure this morning. I dropped her off and went and walked many kms along the waterfront, it was a stunning day. I am not a city person and rarely get into Vancouver but it is the most beautiful city in the world IMO and I have been to many.

She got finished early and called me but I was still a long way from the car so she said she would grab a coffee. The Hospital is right downtown and the one most of the homeless end up at, she said there were many trying to buy coffee at the Starbucks in the hospital but they only had cash, and Starbucks would only take credit/debit because of the pandemic. She felt bad for them and told the Starbucks person to put $50.00 on her card and give them all coffee. I love my wife.

Got her home and put her to bed, she suffers neurological issues that ended her career as a Veterinary Surgeon. I see more time being spent at medical facilities with her down the road as we get older. We are lucky to have easy access to them all and it doesn't cost us a dime so life is good.

Kevin, congrats on the Granddaddy front. I don't think I'll ever see Grandkids but if I do they'll be on skates with a hockey stick in hand at a very young age. Anything to get me back to the rink.Laugh

Still thinking about Randy Passing away. Right from 2006 when I joined the forum he helped me get over the learning hump and was still doing it just a few weeks back when I was having speed matching issues with my new Rapido F7B. We exchanged a few E-Mails as well over the years. Good guy.

The Kid came and got his bike today. He might do a bit of movie work this Summer as they are screaming for people. He needs to be in really good shape to make the big bucks. If he can go flat out take after take he gets lots of work. He did a show called "Legends of Tomorrow" where they put a $5000.00 made for him superhero costume on him and he ran after the bad guy over and over again across a field for 14 hrs. Got paid $2500.00 for the day. He did something very similar in Deadpool2 and because he was fit enough to do it over and over again he was the only guy they called in to set on those days. He has done quite a few "Marvel" shows now and is listed in the MarvelWiki pages. I came across that by accident and told him but he knew about it already as his agent had told him.

Time to hop on the Deere and cut the grass as the rains are coming in a day or so. Then I'll put some doors back on and that should end this year's edition of renovating the Batcave. Could actually running a train be in my future?

All the best to all.

WOA NELLY! Smokin.

Good evening everyone.

I am extremely angry right now.

You might have heard this part... We have a local businessman down here named Alfie Oakes who owns a farm, grocery store, and restaurant in Collier County. He has been on the national news over and over because he is a virus-denier, and he does not allow masks in his store or restaurant.

Last week, Ted Nugent came down and did a mask-free performance at his restaurant. Ted has now come down with Covid-19 and has been very sick.

Well... today my neighbor lady from down on the corner came over to talk to me while I was outside. She was upset because her husband went to the concert, and now he has Covid-19 and is very sick.

Bang Head Bang Head Bang Head Bang Head Bang Head Bang Head

You have got to be kidding me.

She walked down to my house, without a mask on, and told me she has been exposed to the virus. Words cannot describe how angry I am right now.

I am ten days from my second shot of Moderna. I have been living like a hermit for a year. I have been as careful as I could be, and this idiot just exposed me on purpose.

I have isolated myself from my wife. I cancelled my road trip, moving it back until after Memorial Day, and I have scheduled myself for a Covid test next Wednesday.

If I get this crud I will lose my mind.

I just need to keep telling myself...

The World Is A Beautiful Place.

Hi Kevin,

That is just plain stupid!! You have every right to be angry. She just put your life at risk!

I really hope that you are able to stay healthy. You had  your first dose of vaccine more than two weeks ago so the odds are that you are safe, but you are wise to take precautions.

Hi Ricky,

You did nothing wrong. You stood up for your principles and for your personal safety. The fact that you have lost some 'friends' suggests to me that they weren't really friends. True friends wouldn't do that to you!

One of my best friends is very religious. I am completely the opposite. We get along great because we respect each other's views. We can discuss religion without anyone getting offended. When we go out for lunch I just wait patiently while he says Grace before starting my meal. My food has never gotten cold!

By the way, there is nothing wrong with collecting unemployment insurance (I know you didn't). Over the years the average person will pay far more money to the government than they will get back.

Cheers!!

Good morning Diners.    A grand day in the Borders of the former land of the North British Railway.

I hope we hear from those MIA.   They are missed.

Glad you are liking the films this month.    Trying to 'mix things up'  for everyone.

The first film is in Inverness.

Short film of the Scottish section of the Waverley Route - then and now - with a focus on the restoration work at Whitrope by the Waverley Route Heritage Association. Featuring accompanying music by Maurizio Marrocco with his fitting vocal and guitar tribute "Take my Hand".

Good morning diners. It is an absolutely beautiful day down here right now. There is a chance of rain this afternoon.

A few weeks ago we were discussing Little Debbie Nutty Buddies... well, I found something just as amazing.

If you can find them, give these a try.

Unfortunately, they do not come individually wrapped, so it is easy to over-indulge.

I found out the national food chain Aldi has a generic knock off of Nutty Bars that are even better at half the price.  My evening snack Nutty bar intake at times gets alarmingly scaryStick out tongue  Being that Aldi is a European based food chain, the FDA is better over there so the ingredients are less bad for you.

I have heard that people who live in England that have moved over here and eat our food get sick because their metabolism isn't used to all the ingredients you can't even pronounce that is in a lot of our foodTongue TiedLaugh

Man I sure rambled on and flew off on a tangent.  Way too much coffee for me today.  I don't know why I made another half a pot after I took Judy to w**kIndifferent

Post Hog!

Well it just dawned on me that maybe I should quit trying to be so social today and start something a little more productive before the afternoon fades into eveningWhistling

I think I'll go work on a bridge or something.  A good day for it as it's still cold and dreary out and about.
