Evening all, it was a sunny day but very windy and we didn't lose our power.Yes

TF, was wondering where you got to, you're supposed to phone in when you book off.Laugh

Went into Vancouver and picked up my guitar that was being repaired, it is a different beast now, all I can say is WOW! He is a little bald Japanese man no more than 5' tall and fixes all Bryan Adams guitars as well as other famous rockers. We sat and talked for a long time about all the famous peoples' guitars he has fixed, I told him I knew Bryan Adams in High school and he went on to talk about him as well. Canada Post came in while I was there with at least a dozen Guitars to be worked on from all over the world, it was amazing to see. He was not cheap but worth every penny.

The puppies are thriving and Mom is doing well, my wife stayed up all night just to keep an eye on them and is sleeping now while my daughter takes a shift.

Henry, my wife has had the sperm on ice for all this time and it was the last in the world, thus it is drawing much attention. The original owner had passed away and it was a bit of a legal mess getting the paperwork signed off on for the breeding. They were very cooperative it was just a pain for the lawyers to sort out over the pond.

This is when they got home last night.

No description available.

I have a great story of what was going on when we were in the maternity ward for our first kid involving the epidural. At the same time, there was a couple in there that was part of some religion I can't remember where the husband and wife never touch each other. They did explain how they went about conceiving and the ward was in hysterics for hours after that.

The only wild beast I have had to deal with coming into the house has been a few bats. We leave the doors and windows open all the time and at night one might fly in. We don't have much in the way of insects so there are no screen doors to ward them off. I just get a tea towel and as they fly by throw it over them and take them outside where I open the towel and they fly off my hand. Any other beast are aware of the dogs laying just inside the door so don't come close. In the middle of the night, we will hear the dog(s) growl if something gets to close, usually a rabbit. We often leave the doors open all night in the summer.

When I was in Tahiti the cockroaches were huge in Papeete and the geckos on Moorea did not bother me. Tahiti is one place I want one more trip to. Yesterday I was checking out resorts and the place is not the paradise it once was with all the development that has happened, I will check out some of the outer islands before I go own to defeat. I want to get to Saipan and over to Tinian as well and go visit whats left of the massive airfields where the two H-bombs left from in 1945. There are some good You-Tube videos of the place showing the bomb pits and other places on the island. So much history and many ghosts on those islands.

My kids never have been to Disneyland, a couple of times we gave them the choice of Disneyland or Hawaii and they chose Hawaii which suited me just fine. I don't like crowded places.

All the best to all

This ought to be the demographic for hearing aids.  Does anyone have any thoughts on rechargeable vs std battery models?

What a beautiful morning.

I am working in the guest bedroom now. The ceiling is removed, so the AC vent is blocked off and the window is open. The birds are chirping away outside, and it is a gorgeous clear blue sky.

Huh?

I use the recycleable old fashioned standard #13 batteries in mine.  I must be behind the times as I have never heard of rechargable hearing aids.... LOL  I get my batteries as part of the contract for the aids along with replacement screens and such.

Good morning

A beautiful one here as well, cloudy but pleasant, flannel weather.   The smell of bacon taking over the house ready to go in the scrambled eggs with cheese on topDinner

You got plenty of friends here Henry and I wish I could help you out with that one.

I have tinnitus so loud ringing in my ears from using power tools all my life it drives me nuts sometimes.  My hearing hasn't gone yet, "knock on wood".  Maybe someone here knowsWink

Having a late breakfast and then driving out to the farmers market.  The sweet corn is so good this year you can eat it plain with nothing on it.  We still have some in the freezer but I want to see if they still have some more.

A black diamond watermelon is also on our list.  They're 10 bucks a pop but so worth it!  Once you have a black diamond you're spoiled for life and another watermelon just is not the same.

Thier beef is free range, grass-fed, no chemicals, antibiotics or red dye.  And the homemade beef sticks are the best I've ever had.  Kinda spendy but well worth it tooDinner

Huh What?

Seriously though , my wife's voice is at a frequency that I can't hear very well, especially if there is running water or rushing air.

Good morning and a beautiful sunny one it is with a gentle breeze and the smell of salt air off the ocean. I would be hard-pressed to not live near the ocean.

I spent 3 hours on the guitars this morning and I think I need to take my six-string in and let the master make it as perfect as he did my twelve-string. Big Smile

So you guys that need hearing aids do you prefer the ones that go in the ear or the other kinds? I think my day is coming. Having worked so many decades loading planes with the engines running has taken its toll on my hearing. Going deaf and breathing jet exhaust and coming home covered in kerosine after 20 hours on the ramp was the price for a job I loved, at least I don't have to pay for whatever hearing aid I end up with. I may go low tech to match the era I am modelling.

Vintage Hearing Aids

I went for a test about 15 years ago and the first thing the Doctor said when I walked in the door is    " can you not hear or does your wife say you can't hear?"Laugh I passed that test but I fear it won't happen again.

A landscaper came and blitzed our property and it looks stunning. My wife has been helping someone out with training and grooming their dog for showing ( she helps everybody) and the person owns a landscaping biz. They probably made an acre of it look better than it ever has. I probably get a $1000.00 in PWRS gift certificates in a year for doing favours for people, she gets landscaping, it's win-win for me.LaughWhistling

I never did get out to cut the back 40 the other day so I will go now while the sun is shining and work on my tan. Three more cuts and that should be it for the year as the third week of November is usually it. It is more about mulching all the leaves than cutting the grass at that point.  I'll pressure wash the Deere to look shiny and new, change the blades, oil and air filter so she ready for launch come spring.

Jason Shron I want this!Laugh.........PLEEEEEEEEEZE.Angel

Lastspikemike
ighter pilots are known to respond more immediately to the pitch of the female voice. The voice warning systems are apparently labelled "bitchin' betty".

My dad was a navigator/bomber in WWII.  He said that the noise from the engines was horrendous, partially because the exhaust ports were on the sides of the engines next to the fuselage. That was so the exhaust flames couldn't be seen at night. When they returned from a mission the only thing they could hear were the high pitched voices of females so they were de-briefed by WACs. I'm sure they thought that was great!Smile, Wink & GrinLaugh

Afternoon folks!

BATMAN
So you guys that need hearing aids do you prefer the ones that go in the ear or the other kinds? I think my day is coming.

I have the in the ear ones, but.....  To some extent what will work best depends on the loss you have, whether you wear glasses or not, and some other factors.  Best advise (having worn hearing aids for about 25 years now) Is talk to the audiologist and explore the options that would work the best for you. It is not a "one size fits all".  I would also advise to stay away from the el cheapo "it's a Miracle, and a lot less expensive" varieties.  My hearing aids are well over a G-note......  Each.  But, they work for the loss I have.  I grew up on a farm driving tractors and old trucks starting when I was 4 years old (ford 8n).  One thing they all had in common is that they hadn't had a working muffler on them in years!  Then I became a musician and did live sound reinforcement for the last 18 years of my carreer!!!  Huh?  What???

My lady friend very often says, Ray, are your hearing aids working?  My sister just gets huffy and tells me she hates it when I can't understand her mumbling (she tends to mumble and turns her head away from me while riding in the car....)  At least the lady I am dating had an aunt who was both deaf and blind for the last several years of her life.  She has an understanding attitude about being with someone who is basically deaf.

What?

I've had so much experience my whole life saying what when someone's talking to me even though I darn well heard them.  The problem is my noodle never shuts down and I'm always preoccupied thinking about something like what I'm going to do building on my model next.  So I say what?  And whoever's talking to me has to repeat themselvesWhistling

So when my hearing goes I probably won't have to get a hearing aid because at that point what the heck is going to be the difference anyway.

I'll just nod my head and say yep, yep.  I'll have more time to do my thinking on how I'm going to finish that modelLaugh

POST HOG!

Went to that farmers market today.  Unfortunately they did not have any more corn or the Black Diamond watermelon.  I guess it's getting a little late in the harvest season as it went by way too fast.

It was fun though!  They were doing special stuff for Fall.  Here's some pictures.

The gourd's, I don't know what that super long one was?

I got a kick out of this one, the baby pterodactyl in The Birdcage.

And the toads in the tub.

Judy's always looking for fun stuff for us to do.  With my depression problem I've had my whole life, I'm lucky to have her.  I thank the Man Upstairs for her everydaySmile, Wink & Grin

The good news is we heard from our family in Wisconsin that Nancy is doing much better today.  She's not having the Panic with trouble breathing for the first time since it started.  Judy and I are relieved as we don't think we could stand to lose another family member or friend to this nasty crap out there.

Great news indeed.  Thank you for your prayers, They HelpedYes

I cant hear anything when the waters running either Kevin.  I run alot of water,  especially on the weekends.

So my brother calls tonight.  I love when my brother calls!  We talk Trains, Trains,  kinda like that Blackfoot song (Someone should post that one)  I would but I dont know how.

So my little brother and I are having a great old time talking Trains.  He is 15 years younger than me and works full time construction building custom upper bracket homes.  Helping his friend frame his new house on the weekends and still gets more done on his layout than I do.  To be young again, I'm almost ashamedLaugh

His layout goes all over his partment in modules and he has to squeeze through places to get through.  His layout is extremely interesting and I asked Judy to give me my brother back because she's still on the phone with him.

She said no I find your brother very comfortingLaugh

So now I'm using her phone to talk to you guys but you guys haven't talked to me a bit todayTongue TiedCrying

Edit:  Top of the Page:

In honor of the baseball playoffs, everyone can join me for a baseball stadium chili hot dog with mustard and onions, with an ice cold beer to wash it down.

The Braves are getting killed right now:  Dodgers leading them 15 - 0 in the third inning.  Not good.

And the chili dogYes  just what the doctor ordered

Judy's still on the phone with my brother and it's starting to piss me offAngry

Tomorrows her sister's birthday and we have to go drop off flowers so I understand.  She just is always looking for someone to talk to and even though I try all the time I'm a little talked out but I try to keep being supportive

I just want to talk more layout and trains with my brother thoughSmile, Wink & Grin

P.S.  I forgot to say I hope the Braves come back in the fourth or fifth inning here John and I just think they willYes

The removable mountain on my layout has come along way but I don't think I have enough done to post it on WPF this weekend but maybe next weekendSmile, Wink & Grin

I have told him this 3 days in a row and 3 days in a row he has gotten a second treat! Smile, Wink & Grin

Good Evening!

Sure has cooled off here. We are expecting ahigh of 40F tomorrow.

Brent, Those are fine looking pups!

Ken, dogs can often understand a kot of words. If we ask Robbie if he would like some Cheerios he runs to the cupboard where we keep them. For a cookie he goes to spot where they are. He knows at least 300 words.

I have the new CP Hudson back and it runs great now. Turns out the contact points on the tender trucks had blackened metal .  The Pacific should be ready this week.

My wife says I have a hearing probkem too. I went to a ear specialist who said I have a loss in one ear but not serious. My wife thinks I need hearing aids. Wish she would stop talking to me when I am not in the same room and then get angry when I don't reply .

Well think I'll watch a little TV.
