gmpullmanPlease show something from a Northeast US or Canada railroad.
The TH&B was my hometown railroad, and about 20 years ago, I built a couple of these Stewart (now Bowser) U-channel hoppers, modifying them into cars closer to the appearance of the real ones, following a well-done article in RMC...
The real ones were built in 1914, and lasted into the mid-'60s, the final ones in company service.
Recently, I looked them over again, and realised that I could have done better. To that end, I've started re-doing the two original cars, and adding another 10. They'll represent the cars in the period between the mid-'30s and mid-'40s, when they were undergoing updates and improvements.

gmpullmanPlease show a locomotive you have modified or added details in any way.
This is an old under construction model of my beloved Athearn Trainmaster.
The roof on these models is very boring, so I spiced it up a bit. I added a taller fan housing from Details West. There are four sand hatches added to the roof in a completely nonsensical way just to dress it up a bit. I added a big horn and a big bell just for fun. The EMD all weather window is a bit out of place on this model, and it the late knuckle tray above the pilot.
All in good fun.

The New York Central modified some of their RS-3s and moved one of the air reservoirs to the roof to allow for more water capacity for the steam generator:

BRVRRKevin, your photo of the Great American Train Story layout at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry brings back some great memories. There is a photo Essay on my website of our trip in 2008 here:
I wish I would have seen it in 2008. When I was there in 2018 the layout was very dirty/dusty, and some parts had suffered damage.
It is still impressive, and maybe some restoration work has been done.
