Former Model Railroader editor Neil Besougloff is sick with Covid and in the hospital on a respirator. As a one-time contributor, I always appreciated that he answered all of my emails quickly and personally. Here is wishing him a quick and total recovery.

Sorry to hear that. Good luck and better health to you, Neil.
I was about to drop my MR subscription when Neil took over, but the magazine improved dramatically and I have stayed ever since.

Very sad news, we have two friends from the U.S. that have stayed at our home that have passed away from this horrible virus. Here is hoping that Neil will get through this tough time.

My sources tell me that last week was rough on him but that there were signs of improvement on Friday. Here's hoping the improvement continues.

I first met Neil at Trainfest in Milwaukee about 10 years ago when you could purchase a VIP pass for Friday night and get more personal time with the vendors and contributors to the hobby. I was just getting started in the hobby and showed him some pictures. He took the time to offer honest opinions and said some words that truly inspired me to seriously pursue this hobby. I still reflect on that conversation almost everytime I turn on my railroad. He is truly an asset to this hobby as well as the culture and community that is model railroading. My heart goes out to him and his family. Stay strong Neil. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Progress report: Neil was able to get out of bed and sit in a chair although he found that exhausting after so many days flat on his back in bed
He still has a bad cough. With luck he'll be in a private room soon but there is still hospitalization in his future for a while. At least things are looking up
That's good to hear. Sounds like this really hit him hard, but hopefully he is on the upswing now. Thanks for the update.

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
That is good news to be sure. Being intubated for an extended period is quite an assault on its own sometimes. Hopefully, he will make a full recovery.

This terrible virus took my sister-in-law a while back. I hate this disease. Added prayers for Neil's recovery. Hang in there Neil.

Hi everyone, I'm not usually on the MR board much, but I wanted to confirm that sadly, this is true. Early this morning he had a heart attack and could not be revived. I worked for Neil for many years on CTT and Garden Railways. All of us at Kalmbach are shocked by the news, given that the last update we'd had was that he had improved.
