Ah! quite understandable then, me I am a child of the 60's flower power and all that, so why I took to toy soldiers I don't know unless it was the colourfull period uniforms they had back then.
1799 untill 1815 or maybe its the same sense of order that also goes with railways that became a life time thing including untill a few years ago working for them.
Thanks for correct spelling glad you where able to translate it from my gibberish.
Thats them mine where from the Napolionic era so I had the side benefit, not that it did me any good of learning a little bit about history at the same time.

Hi Tinplate Toddler
What no toy soldiers as a child that is just not on, I was fortunate to have the good Britains soldiers plastic with the muck metal metal base the historical ones that where recognisable as who and what they where meant to be I wish I still had them.
I even had some EEK!!! lead ones I gave those to a collector friend of my father before we left the UK I had to leave the Meccano and Lego behind as well to many well meaning gifts from family over the years.
I have also played the miniature wargames in fact I still have the 33rd foot 42nd highlanders and a handfull of the fighting 95th and a colour bearer for the fictional South Essex with Sharp and sgt Harper they are not called that for copyright reasons but it is very obvious thats who they are meant to be, some Prussian Lundwhere (spelling) Blucher Wellington and Sir Thomas Picton round off whats left of the Historical Napolionics, no frogs though.
I might but am not sure about it still have some Continentals somewhere not sure about Washington and whoever the other continental big wig was suposed to be certainly was not Tarleton.
Those are all the proper tin lead wargames miniatures and are unlikely to go to war again
Not to mention fantasy amy's of Vampire Counts and Bretonia without unchivelrous war machiens.
The limit of faith on this site should be how do I model a ? or who makes a tin tabernacle the answer to that is Peco Wills by the way.
Don't get to comfortable in your Hermit cave you do occasionaly need to go out into the world and tap on the keys ocasionaly so we know your still about the place.
Grumpy old man thats a right and privelidge that comes with age so don't waste it.
Hey, TF, I'm just trying to point out that sometimes conversations can stray into areas that may cause folks to get their dander up.
I worked with a guy that could have been your twin, Joe Perko, rest his soul. I know exactly where you're coming from. He had a heart of gold but he didn't have any hesitation to tell anyone what HE thought was "right and proper". Sometimes we have to take a look at another point of view and appreciate what others may have had to struggle with in their lives.

I'm just trying to keep some of the controversy outside the Diner's door.
Things are really in turmoil all over the world, that's for sure — but here, we kind of have a little buffer from all that and our hobby is an escape from the nasty realities of life, I hope.
Burn a little coal, smell the steam and hot cylinder oil, listen to the exhaust, whistle, air pumps and turbo-generator, feel the power of the locomotive and enjoy the ride.
Don't go anywhere! You are the life of the party here
Cheers, Ed
Before I go away I must tell you I have George Costanza's shirt
And Judy's favorite Easter egg I made for her last Easter
All kinds of Teal
On top of everything else going on in Minnesota right now Please pray for Judy's sister Kelly who has covid 19 She's in the hospital and not breathing well We are plenty worried about her
TF
Track fiddlerI think maybe it would be best if I go away for awhile.
I wouldn´t recommend that. I tried it and it didn´t work at all. What you need is a place for Judy and you to feel safe, so you can relax and start to enjoy life (again).
Absolutely
I had nothing offensive.
I by no means ever meant to hit a soft spot.
If I offended you Ed or anyone else, my humble apology is given.
I have lost quite a bit of sleep over this week with everything happening up here and I do need to think of what I say before I say it.
I've had a problem with manic depression my whole life and these current events in the world haven't really helped lately.
I think maybe it would be best if I go away for awhile.
I am Sorry
I guess I am from another generation. All of this gaming stuff is so far beyond me. In my youth, we didn´t play with tin soldiers or tin nights storming a castle, so I don´t think I will pick it up now that I am growing up.
Religion is a rather private thing and best left out of this place. I respect anybody´s faith or belief, as long as I can keep mine. That´s all from my side.
I am slowly developing into a hermit, but a grumbling, grouchy one. I feel fine with Petra being around, she is my sword and my shield, but other people should better stay away from me these days. Yessir, I am proud to be a grumpy old man!
Track fiddlerUnfortunately I heard it's over run by Mormons and if you don't fit in you don't fit in.
I happen to know some pretty decent people of the Mormon faith.
Please tell us what it is you find offensive by these folks?
Track fiddlerThe military is here in great numbers. The cowards did not show up as I thaught those gutless wonders wouldn't.
I used to like to visit the Diner to try to get a break from the daily news cycle.
Any chance we can keep opinions like this to a minimum?
Just curious. Ed
Sweet!
Thanks Brent! I've always really enjoyed doing risky projects
I'm going to get my rope haired brother involved with this one.
Oh, I must tell you guys that was his real hair. He grew it for years and he saved it after he needed a good job. He puts it on once in awhile nowadays like a wig for a funny.
He's going to like this one because he likes Rockets too. I'm going to stand afar from the laboratory table until he gets it right as he's crazier than I am. And then I will join in once he has it down
.50c a launch instead of $11.00 A savings of a 12 pack, ... Nice
I just read my email today, and there it was... the Historical Miniature Gaming Society has officially cancelled Hurricon 2020 in Orlando.
This one was in September, and they were doing their best to hold it together.
That is it... Every convention I planned to attend in 2020 is now cancelled.
Omnicon, Historicon, Megacon, Metrocon, Necronomicon, and now Hurricon... ALL GONE!
I will have no social activities this entire year. I will not see old and dear friends. My armies will get dusty.
None of this fun at all:

Yes
Unfortunately.
Judy and I have been talking about moving over to the Idaho Oregon border area because the climate is so decent.
Never gets too hot, never gets too cold and it's not cloudy all the time like Washington.
TF, you need to roll your own.

Track fiddlerI myself would relocate to Bismarck North Dakota if I didn't have my roots so far in the ground.
My family has its roots way east in the region of the former East Prussian city of Königsberg, now called Kaliningrad. The family was brutally uprooted at the end of WW II and never developed any roots anywhere else. I guess this makes me a true world citizen, but not having a place to call home is not a nice thing. We all need foundations, don´t we?

NASA always builds two of the same thing because they can't get the first one right.
Rocket Schmocket. I'm so glad they had a successful launch today. I was working at the time and unfortunately I missed it. I was earning money to show appreciation and send people gifts to try to make them happy but it doesn't always work apparently
I built this rocket and it works really good. I didn't have to build two
Rocket Man
Sounds complicated
I have seen how that family war stuff goes and have always found it rather sad as I'm sure you do. I hope you get things worked out as best as can be expected.
In the meantime, If I was you, I'd be looking into the United States programs and think about Bismarck, North Dakota. After everything I have just seen, I myself would relocate to Bismarck North Dakota if I didn't have my roots so far in the ground.
My son lives over there and he says it's really great. With the exceptions of the winters on the plains that is.
Between North Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin. I think all the winters are pretty much the same.
They're cold. But as I always say. Cold is cold, wet is wet, dry is dry, and hot is hot. Once any of these factors hit a certain extreme there isn't a lot of difference anymore.
That's probably why I've always lived where I do all my whole life. I honestly prefer extreme cold over extreme hot
York1I watched the launch, but the channel I was watching did not have the landing of the used first stage onto the barge. Not sure why. I wish I could have seen it.
BigDaddyNasa.gov said they lost the signal and one minute the barge was empty, the next the 1st stage had landed. For the people that don't believe we actually landed on the moon, they won't believe that wasn't faked.
I watched the rocket stages land on the barges when they put the Tesla car into orbit. That was a complete miracle. Unmanned rocket engines landing vertically onto an unmanned "drone" barge.
What a triumph. So much more interesting than the actual rocket launch... we have been doing that for my entire life.
Good Morning!
Sunday! Time for my BIG breakfast, consisting of eggs, bacon, pancakes, sausages, buttered toast, jam, a tall glass of OJ and lots of coffee! Make that a standing order for Sundays, Flo, please!
I am glad things seem to normalize in Minneapolis now!
TF - I would in no way qualify for a mortgage. I am a cash only person and I don´t even have a credit card. Being a cashman helped me to save up some money, but certainly not the amount required to buy this house, given that I am retired and on a rather small fixed income. However, despite my mother having disinherited me, I am entitled by law to a certain amount out of my mother´s estate, about half of what my normal share would be. I have initiated a court order against my brother to pay what is due to me. It would cover the purchase, providing that I get the permission to buy and we are allowed to travel again.
The military is here in great numbers. The cowards did not show up as I thaught those gutless wonders wouldn't.
I can see a better day tomorrow.
I will go back to Monday and hold the military and the people of service with the utmost respect. I know order is restored here. God bless our people of service.
I Thank Them. I Thank Them With So Much Appreciation

I noticed the armored car just behind the astronauts. I wouldn't have expected such precautions on the grounds of the space center.
Before the launch, the guy on the left almost looked like he was meditating with his hands folded. The guy on the right kept wiggling the fingers of his left hand.

Tinplate Toddler Track fiddler I hope you and Petra can find an opportunity like that. The place is for sale at about $55k. It´s not a huge house, just a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom, kitchen and living room, about 1,000 sq.ft. in total, on a 1/12 acre plot. It´s in a pretty good condition and I can picture myself living there. Petra is not yet convinced. It´s a 4 hours drive from our current place, on the Danish islandd of Langeland, which is connected to the mainland via a bridge.

I don't know Ulrich, sounds good to me, I hope you can get into that place. All that lush greenage around you, your lungs would open up and you would have all kinds of energy.
My downsize where I live is about 1200 square feet. Unlike your two bedrooms I have one bedroom. I wish I would have got a two bed and do have second thaughts at times.
The two beds do become available in our large condo complex. A can of worms though as I would have to sell our place and buy the other place coordinating it at the same time as a contingency type of deal.
The other thing is I don't have any kind of yard what-so-ever anymore. Some would say thats a plus but Judy misses her gardens and I actually miss mowing lawn.
What are you going to do though? I don't have a mortgage, I'm debt free and I barely have any bills anymore which is nice! With all the minuses of the downsize, I Live Like a Rockstar as long as this chaos rioting thing here goes away tonight. As long as it goes away it will be okay for me as I never go into Minneapolis.
P.S. Kevin, I never did know if it arrived okay. Did you and your wife ever get the DVD box-set I sent you? I hope you did, I thought you would both enjoy it

I still remember how bad the pictures were we saw from the Apollo missions. The pictures we saw a couple of hours ago were just amazing!
Tinplate ToddlerCongratulations to a successfull launch!
That was pretty awesome. The number of camera shots and angles was amazing. And the landing of the first stage rocket dead center of the circle. Amazing. (Btw, did anyone else notice the astronauts were driven out to the launch in a Tesla.)
Richard

Right in the middle of nowhere and a 5 minute bike ride from the beach!
Ulrich, I would live somewhere like that in a minute! In the middle of nowhere like you say. I hope you and Petra can find an opportunity like that. I feel you both deserve it and hopeful for you both.
I would like to thank You and Garry's past words of concern.
The Minneapolis and surrounding suburbs residents are greatly relieved today after our Governor's press conference this morning. 13,200 Troops with combat air support are being deployed here today in preparation for tonight. I highly doubt any of these cowards of past days will show up tonight. What a relief that we all needed.
Just like Monday and all year through, I am so thankful and appreciative for our military and all our people of service. God bless them all!
Now that we can all breathe up here I can relate to the frog front. I remember the symphony of frogs where I grew up, they sang every night. I crossed a catwalk dock at the swampy edge of the bay where I lived after dock duty at night. Wooden Frog camp ground on beautiful Lake Kabetogama was at the other side and was the place to be when we were young.
Most recently I always enjoy the beaver dam pond right next door to Judy's Mom's house in Wisconsin. Later at night when we're all around the campfire enjoying a beer and good conversation it's not only the frogs but the beavers that make these strange sounds like plastic spoons tapped on pots and pans. They must somehow make the sounds with their flat tails.
Periodically the DNR has to come in and blast some of the Beaver Dam out with dynamite so the pond doesn't flood. Judy's brother said it's quite loud as the dam is only about a hundred yards from their house. Not to worry, the Beaver Lodge and the beavers are safe from this yearly task.
Have a great day everyone, mine has sure gotten better!
York1 Happily, I will just let the guy who replaced me worry about it!
I have thought about how difficult it is going to be to get my previous operation up and running again after the total shut-down due to the virus.
I also am very glad it is someone else's problem.
Good morning, everyone. Same breakfast as every other day for me -- bacon, eggs, and coffee. Am I in a rut?
I really have no preference for the diner's location. Garry's idea of ND and MN sounds good.
Still more garage work. I had an electrician friend here yesterday to do something I couldn't figure out. Today I can start finishing the sheetrock.
I'm very glad I am retired and do not have to deal with the current school situation. What happens in the fall? Some students worked on things and will be ready for the next level. Others didn't work and will not be ready. If the teacher spends the first months reviewing, the parents of the kids who worked will be upset. If the teacher goes ahead with the regular curriculum, the parents of the kids who didn't work will be upset. Happily, I will just let the guy who replaced me worry about it!
Time to go out to more work on the walls. My legs still hurt from all the ladder climbing.
Garry - I like that suggestion.
I would say the same, let's do a region. Get more RR comments that way possibly.
