I thought Florida did not have basements as I have learned in previous posts.

Where is this cement coming from?

Superior thinsets like Pro Flex Platinum are almost impossible to remove.  Quality tile guys use it and if you have it,  good luck with that.

A float of gypcrete over the whole floor would be the best bet.

Sounds like a lot less work, dust, noise and cleanup.

Yes Dave, that's exactly what I thought and how I would deal with it.  Happy Easter to you and yours!

Judy needed a little more humor this morning and liked my pics yesterday.

We just finished the Birdcage with Robin WilliamsLaughLaughLaugh

Now the spiral ham is going in the oven suspended with water underneath enclosed on a slow warm, it's pre-cooked.

The potato salad will be will follow after the next movie.

The next movie has a hint.  The blind guy goes to New York City with a babysitter from college.  This kid has Integrity, he doesn't rat on his friends.  The blind guy driving the Ferrari is the greatest enjoyable scene.

Good Easter morning, everyone.

It's a cold, windy, rainy Easter morning, with snow beginning.  We're supposed to get only about three inches, but that's three inches too much.

We won't be having any special food today.  I made eggs and bacon this morning, and we'll have chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, and corn this evening -- same as every Sunday.

Technology allows us to have church on our TV.  The livestream is a modern miracle.  I have to laugh that the pastors are talking to a completely empty building.  Must be hard.

Now if they could find a way to get the after-church donuts to our house, that would be great.

Ulrich and Petra, you have friends here supporting you.

Those of you undergoing cancer treatments or recovering from illnesses, we are thinking of you today.

Hope is based things that happened in the past, it is about future events, and it affects our lives today.  Live on hope.

Another sad news - race car driver legend Sir Stirling Moss died today, aged 90, after losing a year-long battle with a vicious illness he had contracted 4 years ago.

He was the hero of my youth days!

R.I.P, Sir Stirling!

Happy times!

That is so sad to hear. Stirling Moss was one of my heros too.

Thanks for letting us know Ulrich.

How unfortunate, cement is a cold cold base even in Florida.

That does open a different can of worms then.....No easy escapes,  back to hard laborTongue Tied

And a Happy Easter to you too Mike and everyone else.

Scrambled eggs with all the fixings and a loaded bagel, please.

***Ulrich, enjoyed the steam machine vids. A machinist friend of mine back in Washington state restored a small one and would go to steam shows. Always enjoyed seeing what folks would bring.

Last night Patti and I watched some vids on full scale track balasting and replacing RR ties. She found that pretty interesting which I thought was cool.Big Smile

Took a short walk yesterday to check for downed trees around the farm. Nothing that can't wait. Strong storms heading this way tonight. YeeHaw!

Hope everyone is doing well. Cheers! Cowboy Rob

The snow is falling here and it's accumulating.

No surprise.  There's at least two of these if not three left before our Spring.

Yesterday it was 63 degrees but the only in Minnesota clause stands.

I wish you all a Happy EasterYes

I really enjoy the scene where the blind guy tears up the "Baird School" code of honor! I've watched it dozens of times, Hoo-aah!

I hope everyone is well today.

Giving thanks for this great forum. Its value and importance is especially noteworthy these days Bow

It is, indeed, but certainly not a happy one. No church services, no egg hunts, not even family reunions, just plain nothing. Even a walk in the park is forbidden.

We held the Easter Vigil as usual... Well almost as usual since there was no congregation.  We did all seven of the old testament readings, processed to the font for the baptimal renewal, and then placed the lit candles in an urn near the altar.

Fr. Benedict sang the Exaltet

After we had Jelly Beans and Ice Cream Cones.

Didn't have to get up until 8am, Morning Prayer was at 8:30 followed by Brunch.

What else can monks do?

Good Morning,

A frosty day here, the grass was frozen when I took Robbie out back for his morning constitutional. It will stay frozen for the next couple of days with a high of about 25F tomorrow.

I got a call from our new tax prep guy. They are done and unfortunately I have some to pay. We took quite a bit out of our investments last year to pay for that trip. Won't be any trips in the future the way the markets have gone. I just hope we have enough to last us. If not we will have to sell the house which I guess, would happen at some point anyway.

I'm getting tired of reading the news. I have a Red Caboose boxcar on the workbench that I started a month ago and may do more work on it.

Ulrich, that is tough not being able to go outside. We can at least do that and walk in the neighbourhood but now it seems the virus can hang in the air so 2 metres distance isn't enough. Maybe it is good it is cold and windy so not much incentive to go out anyway.

We normally enjoy going out to the garden centres and getting the flowers to plant it the yard. Perhaps we can get a little to put in a few pots to brighten up the place.

Good morning from the beautifull West Coast where it should hit 20c today.

I have always hated gardening but have plunged in with both feet this year as staying at home and doing our part has left us with no social activities. Yesterday was bark mulch Saturday, the wife has rose gardens here and there so they have been getting a major overhall.

I shovelled a lot of bark mulch yesterday and the kid brought me home a large bottle of Captain Morgan which I dove into at cocktale hour.Pirate

I am so proud of my kids, they are both working their butts off as school is in its last couple of weeks, they spend so much time in their rooms working, we don't see them as much as I thought I would.

My son had two jobs he was suppose to start the end of April and that has fizzled for obvious reasons as well the movie people talked him into returning for some work, he had four projects lined up however that industry has also shut down. We really notice the movie/TV thing missing as so much of the shooting goes on around where we live. It would be nothing to walk through two or three sets while walking the dogs through the forested areas.

My train room bathroom is still gutted as we can't get the shower pan we ordered to show up. We contacted the manufacturer and they have plenty going out, however Amazon has not brought ours. The wife has planned the decor around this particular one but she is about to wave the white flag and make some changes. It shouldn't take us long to throw it all back together once the pan gets here. Our house is one of those McMansions that Sheldon likes to refer them as. Lots of square feet at Chevy prices, I was thinking trainroom when I bought it. As we remodel things we have been putting in higher end everything and even I must admit it is starting to look a little classier and I don't usually appreciate things like that. As long as it works is my motto.Laugh

I chat on some aviation FB groups and someone posted radar sweeps of how little air traffic there is right now on flightaware. The videos of planes parked everywhere at all the airports remind me of the days after 911.

Well best get that shovell swingin, bark mulch waits for no man.Laugh

I think the wife is going to be in the kitchen all day again and we will be taking gourmet meals to some in-laws and Aunts and Uncles today. We just put them on the front porch and they come out and get them.

I think it will be shorts instead of jeans today, life is still good in a lot of ways.

All the best to all.

Seeing the S.S. Lansdowne (1884) brings up some distant memories for me, Brent. She wound up in Erie, Pennsylvania, for a while and I recall seeing them there on several occasions. The Skytop observation cars were gutted and she eventually took on water.

 Hiawatha by Edmund, on Flickr

The city of Erie told the owners to get that eyesore out of our harbor and she was towed to Buffalo. At least what was left of the Skytops were salvaged before she was scrapped.

What a sad and misguided venture —

Here she is on a slightly cooler day:

Meatloaf, someone mention meatloaf? Sure wouldn't mind some now. Perfect for Easter or any festive occasion.

Ed, nice pic of that Hudson. Must admit I was tempted to get one of those Rapido Hudsons but waiting for them to produce #2816 that is the version before the 'royal' streamlining.  Otis is a very regal cat. My sister once had a Siamese sealpoint that had the ringed tail. He was a very friendly fellow. Not sure Robbie would be too impressed.

I just put our more seed for our Junco flock. Hungry little fellows.

Anyone else watching the new PBS series 'World on Fire'? Only one episode so far but well done.

Say it is coffee time again. Happening a lot lately.

TF - what´s that strange white stuff covering the ground? Haven´t seen that for a while! Daytime high was 70°F today, very nice weather! We usually have liquid sunshine dropping from the sky at Easter.

Heading for the hay in a few moments! CU tomorrow!

Hello Everyone,

That is sad news about Sir Sterling Moss.  To this day I remember the day I was introduced to formula 1 racing.  It was the 1961season, televised on Wide World of Sports at the Gran Prix of Monaco.  Here was Sterling Moss driving a year old car and soundly defeating the Ferrari team , which included Phil Hill, the eventual 1961 champion, and Count Von Tripps, who was killed at Monza that year.  The movie Gran Prix was loosely based on the 1961 season, or at least borrowed incidents from it.
Because of that, I was fascinated with the idea of racing through the streets of town and even laid out a course on a map in my home town.  I would try to ride my bicycle as fast as I could through the curvy sections.  Of course, it could never have become reality, but I had fun with it.  In a sense it was all due to Sir Sterling Moss and Monaco.

Less is more,...more or less!

Much of the snow we recieved two days ago is gone, we recieved just over 6 inches. About 20 miles inland they recieved 18 inches. Sucks to be them. We have a S. Gale coming in, winds to 70, rain, that should take the rest of the snow. Just glad I no longer have a boat in the harbor. Memories of spending the night with two anchor rhodes out, along with the mooring block, engine running, just jogging into it to keep much of the strain off the mooring rock. A long swell coming into the harbor would cause the rocks to shift, and in one case, the boat coming up on the swell caused the 2 inch rod to be sucked right through the rock that the mooring line was made fast to. The gang was able to get the boat away from the rocks, saving her. A fun time was had by all.

Found a bag of 8-12 count shrimp in the freezer, that whats for dinner. Along with dirty rice, and a cheese sauce, garden peas, and custard pie.

Have started using the front end to start the fire in the wood stove. Used too much the first time I tried it, cleaned the chimney quite well, the livingroom however------ did a run with dried apples, and spices, smooth, quite good, suprised myself.

Chessie Pup 6mo. old, 62 pounds. If her paws are any indication, she will be over 100 pounds when she gets her growth. Took her to the vet this week, and had the puppy maker removed, makes life simpler. Don't want to deal with puppy buyers at this point in my life.

Hope all of you had a sane Easter, best to all, prayers for those in need.
