MisterBeasley

We made our own Happy Hour last night.  We deliberately had only 9 people.  Everyone brought their own everything.  Our community shut down its own Happy hours, but this way we got the drinks we wanted, instead of the lame beer, low-quality wine and rotgut booze their supplier provides.

It was a gorgeous day, so we stayed out in the street and put our chairs 6 feet apart.

LaughLaughLaugh

Now this is how WE DO IT! Laugh

(Personal reference)  PF.....Us and ThemYes

Good Friends, Family and Laughter is what it's all about!  Good for you Mister B.

You may be the only one that gets me SweetheartWink  The world needs more people like you!

I'm just glad I had my last weekend of fun with some Good friends before the worldwide shutdown and the continuous CRAP hit the fanDots - Sign

Honestly a week after,  I don't know what to think about this psychobabble powers that be think everyone believes or the ulterior motiveSad

I do know,  LAUGHTER in your life is the best thing for anybodyYes

I have been in contact with Friends and Family (F&F) MORE ever since!

Not that it was ever lacking! ... Just quite a bit stronger nowYes

Talk about targetted advertising... The big banner ad, the one at the top that is usually for Bowser, Scaletrains, or Menards... Well, just now mine was an advertisement for the house that just got built across the street!

That is probably actually based on my browser history.

Hi Kevin,   I'm waiting for the package I ordered to arrive any day so I can send it to you.  I will send it UPS so you don't have to go to the Post Office.

It is not railroad orientated but I thought you and your wife would enjoy it just as much as Judy and I did not to long ago.

We all need something to occupy our time during this new created economic BS.

After all it isn't like none of us have ever seen a serious flu before but we never have been locked in our houseWhistling

Just look how they're over pushing this crap talking in circles,  (You can see it) !!!

I'm beginning to think they really think we're all that stupid and we're going to keep buying this crap until late fallNo

I don't know about all of you guys but I ain't going to buy this crap they're selling for too much longer hereNo

My friends and I quit the week they got started as We refuse to keep buying what is being taken.

It's time Americans quit buying the BS sold on the media puppet show, ... "All the world indeed a stage and we are merely players"

It's about time we all quit being merely!  The Good Lord gave us brains and it's about time we all start using them.

Let's all review past history of life threatening flu and compare it to the current BS at hand here.

Sincerely  TF

Let's all review past history of life threatening flu and compare it to the current BS at hand here.

OK.....

As a terrifyingly lethal influenza virus swept across the globe between 1918 and 1920, history’s deadliest pandemic claimed the lives of approximately 50 million people worldwide and 675,000 in the United States. Nearly 200,000 Americans died from the “Spanish Flu” in October 1918 alone, making it the deadliest month in the country’s history.

From a site called LiveScience.

"The death rate from seasonal flu is typically around 0.1% in the U.S"

"the death rate for COVID-19 appears to vary by location and an individual's age, among other factors. For instance, in Hubei Province, the epicenter of the outbreak, the death rate reached 2.9%; in other provinces of China, that rate was just 0.4%, according to the China CDC Weekly study. In addition, older adults have been hit the hardest. The death rate soars to 14.8% in those 80 and older; among those ages 70 to 79, the COVID-19 death rate in China seems to be about 8%; it’s 3.6% for those ages 60 to 69; 1.3% for 50 to 59; 0.4% for the age group 40 to 49; and just 0.2% for people ages 10 to 39."

Italy reports 53,578 confirmed cased of COVID-19 and 4,825 deaths, a mortality rate of 9%! This is higher than any other country! The average age in Italy is much higher than in any other European country and Italy has seen drastic budget cuts in health spending over the last 10 years, resulting in the closing of hospitals and leaving the remaining ill-equipped to deal with an epidemic. 99% of the deaths occurred with patients being well over 75 years of age.

I've read both your recent posts, TF, and I honestly can't come up with a reasonable reply.

Laughter is fine for certain situations. I'm not sure if you are trying to convince us that the present situation is nothing to be concerned about or if you believe it is simply a media hoax?

Personally, I'm certainly not in any kind of panic mode but I do sympathize with those affected both here and abroad.

People are dying. To ignore this and carry blissfully on, I believe, would be a grave mistake.

All in good faith, Cheers, Ed

Again, absolutely NO hurry at all, Ken.

From what I understand here in Ohio if a business is not in compliance they risk losing their licence. A few bars that refused to close have actually been boarded up by police.

I hope everything works out well for you.

And it's just going to roll it's course just like it did before  no matter what they do Ray!

No sense shutting the world down.

I left my truck at home and went to Home Depot that is still open with the grocery stores in the Stang today.

Still open to get some building supplies to get some work done.

Not a media hoax at all Ed.

The flu is real as always before.  Don't get me wrong but it's just a good excuse to do what they are doing at this time while they put us all together shutting our world down with their excuse.

I'm always good at seeing this shenanigans to make extra profit for the top 2% since the beginning of time.

The media is real but overexploited extreme in this case and shutting everyone down.

I'm sorry but just look at them talking in circles on the next press conference and really look at them with your own intelligent eyes and decipher.

Monday................................. They all took the weekend off but I'm sure we all didn't.

Laughter is fine for certain situations.

If laughter really is good medicine, my wife asnd I should be fine. This past week of hermit living has had us laughing at each other all the time.

Being together has been wonderful.

I feel really bad for the families on my street that are shut in with children. Some of them are getting the nerves worn thin from what I can see.

Just more proof that children need productive hobbies.

The virus is real and it is a fact that people are dying from being infected with the virus. A comparison with the Spanish flu that swept through the world 100 years ago shows us, that health care has only improved very little since then, despite all progress in medicine. People are dying now because there are not sufficient intensive care places available. People are also dying because they have no access to medical help or simply can´t afford it. In the western supposedly civilized world, health care has more to do about big business than actually helping people. This is what our leaders try to cover up by useless and adverse measures, supported by a media which fosters fear among us to keep anyone from asking the right questions. Hysteria has replaced common sense, with dire effects not only on our economies, but also on our societies. The virus will be overcome quite soon, but the damage done by our leaders will last decades!

I will say no more to this issue!

Happy times!

The media is real but overexploited extreme in this case and shutting everyone down.

I agree that the news-cycle should be viewed with a skeptical eye. To borrow a phrase from a friend of mine, "eat the meat - spit out the bone".

 1898

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Yellow journalism and the yellow press are American terms for journalism and associated newspapers that present little or no legitimate well-researched news while instead using eye-catching headlines for increased sales.[1] Techniques may include exaggerations of news events, scandal-mongering, or sensationalism. By extension, the term yellow journalism is used today as a pejorative to decry any journalism that treats news in an unprofessional or unethical fashion.[2]

Yellow Journalism probably had a major role in our involvement in the Spanish-American War.

It was the first conflict in which military action was precipitated by media involvement. The war grew out of U.S. interest in a fight for revolution between the Spanish military and citizens of their Cuban colony. American newspapers fanned the flames of interest in the war by fabricating atrocities which justified intervention in a number of Spanish colonies worldwide.

Actually, I don't believe the media had much effect on shutting things down. Reducing exposure (i.e. human contact) was a necessary step, IMHO.

Thank you, Ed

I doubt that or even any have died in the US, so far, because of shortage of ICU, lack of money or access.

Some dingbat official from NJ said everone will get it.  It that's true why didn't everyone get it in Korea or China?  Very few are getting it in Africa.  So far there is no explanation for that.

The US is going to spend at least 1 trillion dollars, at least, to try to save the economy.  If these lockdowns save a million lives, that will be at a cost of a million dollars a life and many of those people have the shortest exected lifespans in the population.

I don't see how that works and how we deal with payment on the debt when interest rates return to normal.

Well, all hell is breaking loose in Northeast Cape Coral, Florida tonight. I guess the quiet and calm would only last so long.

Earlier today, the Cape Coral Police Department announced they would be short handed today. I assume they are helping with the blockade of the beaches to keep the next wave of Spring Breakers away, but I do not know why.

The public annoucement said "We will only be responding to emergencies, so do not call us about problems with loud neighbors or nuisances".

Well, it seems all my loud neighbors heard this as great news for them. It started about three hours ago when the retired couple on the other side of the road decided to crank up the classic rock playlist. That led to the people three houses down decding that salsa music was a more appropriate choice, and they have a much louder stereo system.

Now the people that live behind me are trying to out-do everyone with a hyper-amped sub woofer and dance music out by their pool.

My house is caught right in the middle of this triangle of rudeness. I think I am going to put Saving Prvate Ryan in the Blue Ray player and max out the 7.1 surround sound.

I wonder how long this is going to last.

Since I got back from a weekend of fun and supposedly confined to this lockdown world I still go out every day

If you don't let yourself get depressed stressed full of anxiety or anything else

Don't worry be happy and go for a ride everyday and get some air and more than likely you don't have to worry about covid 19

Stay away from public but don't lock yourself indoors and don't worry

When your mind is happy and at peace you have no negative receptacles

Eat the right food and drink plenty of water you will not catch covid 19

Do all that and believe a promise is you won't

That, my friend, is the best I've heard all day!!!!!  ROFLMAO!

I managed to get 5 miles of mostly walking in my neighborhood today (ran about 20 yards).  Got to say hi and wave at a lot of neighbors as well...  From well over 6 foot away.  Almost every car on the street waved at me ... Even those who I don't know.  The E-Z pass mounting strips arrived in the mail today so I remounted the transponder on the windshield and then took the Tesla for a drive between exits on the NYS Thruway.  Finished cleaning the counters in my kitchen (try to do that every couple of years), and finished off the evening talking on the phone with a beautiful Lady I am dating.  We are making plans to get together next weekend.  There is nothing that says the two of us can't see each other for an evening as long as we are not around a large group of people.  Both of us are being very carefull to follow the recomendations, so the risk to each other would be very small.  If one of us is sick at all, we will cancel.  Our biggest risk is our ages and for me that I am diabettic, and have high blood pressure (both are well controlled).  Life goes on, but we both believe in being very carefull.  We both want to live long enough to become a financial drain on our children....  LOL

To all of you out there, take what the people who know and study such things seriously and do what is recommended.  But, panic on one side or ignoring what is going on out there are neither good choices....  Be smart and stay safe!

Today I decided to practice extreme social distancing -- I took the motorcycle out for a 300-mile tour. I saw everything from a 1.6M acre-foot lake, to spring flowers, to a Joshua Tree stand, to a memorial to Tom Mix. All in all, an awesome day.

And my Judy talked me into listening to Chrissie Hynde The Singles on a Saturday night

And we remember talking to her on the edge of the stage when she was playing at the Saints baseball field in St Paul Minnesota

She was having a bad day  We told her to take a look around  Everybody's here because they love you

I never met Chrissie Hynde before but Judy and Chrissie talked and things looked better with only words

It was a great concert  Judy's favorite and she will never forget it  Neither will I   I don't think Chrissie ever did either

Well  I guess that's why Judy had me listen to it with her tonight

It's just the little things that keeps the boat afloat

TF

I'd much rather listen to Ozzy or Dean Martin for that matter but Judy's Chrissie Hynde shined that day and it was a great show

Well, 1:30 AM, and the neighborhood has finally calmed down. This was a terrible evening.

My wife talked me into watching Hustlers, the Jennifer Lopez movie. She had heard it was about a group of women that were tired of being taken advantage of by men, so they turned the tables on the men and get even. She thought it would be a woman empowering movie.

THAT IS NOT WHAT IT IS ABOUT!

It is a horrible, unwatchable movie. Stay away from this one. There is not one redeaming quality to this film.

Don't say I didn't warn you.

Good Morning!

It´s Sunday, so it should be the time for a big breakfast, just the way I like it and the doctor has blacklisted it for me. But with all the shutdowns and lock-outs going on I´d better stay at home and have my usual, daily fare.

The day starts bright and sunny, but it is bitter cold. The world must have gone mad, not only due to the virus. Last night, just two days after "Spring has sprung", the coldest temperature in decades was recorded in my neck of the woods, much colder than during the entire winter.

Do you know how to operate a steam engine?

Here is how to:

Stay safe!

Edit: for over 10 years now, we live in this apartment. While it has sufficient room for the two of us, I always have had an uneasy feeling about it. This may be due to the lack of a balcony and the rather antisocial neighborhood, but I now know what I have been missing all those years! Flowers! Although we live on the outskirts of our town and there is lots of green around, there are no flowers to be seen anywhere near. The only flowers we sometimes see, is the bouquet of flowers I occasionally buy for Petra. It took me more than 10 years to find that out - shame on me!

Happy times!

Breaking news:   Trending on Twitter. #PoorJennifer Yes Twitter is a cesspoll

Spoiler alert. If you are not opposed to looking at Twitter for #PoorJennifer or can search Youtube for "When things go wrong working from home"  do so now and don't read anymore of this post.

You have been warned.

12 people are having a video conference, where you can see all 12 and their names.   Three rows, of four each.  Jennifer is center extreme left.  The woman just to Jennifer's right is droning on about something and is oblivious during the whole episode.

Everyone else is paying attention to the speaker, except Jennifer, who is carrying her bouncing laptop around her home.  Eventually she stops, sets the laptop down on the floor where she can see it and it can see her.  She sits down to do her business, in the bathroom.Surprise

Everyone else is either shocked or amused and break out laughing, when Jennifer realizes what she is steaming to the internet and knocks the laptop over.
