Show me a steel boxcar.

Sure thing, keedo...

This is, I think, a car kit from Tichy, representing a single sheathed wooden boxcar that has had the wood siding removed and new metal cladding added to the exterior side of the bracing.  Remnants of the bracing shows at the sidesills...

Wayne

Show us some more steel boxcars or reefers, please.

Show me another outside braced wooden boxcar.

This is a somewhat modified Train Miniature car, with its original Howe truss bracing and custom decals from Rail Graphics...

...and this one, a similar TM car, but with the Howe truss diagonals removed and replaced with ones in Pratt truss format, to better-match its prototype...

Lettering is from Speedwitch Media.

The Wabash ran a dome train daily between Chicago and St. Louis.

Rule 1: This is my railroad.

Rule 2: I make the rules.

Rule 3: Illuminating discussion of prototype history, equipment and operating practices is always welcome, but in the event of visitor-perceived anacronisms, detail descrepancies or operating errors, consult RULE 1!

How about some more 60'-and-over cars, please.

Looks like I'm talkin' to myself, but here's one that fits the bill, a Rivarossi coach modified into a pretty-decent representation of one of the CNR's "Mountain Observation Cars"...

...another ex-Rivarossi coach was the donour for this CNR "Express Horse Car"....

Show me another fifty to sixty foot car.

Thought that I might as well throw in this one, since it's at least a different number...

This one's based on a photo of its prototype, and is about 60' in length...

It started life as an Athearn 72' steel coach.

Show me a freight car that IS NOT a grain service covered hopper car.

Ash service? No, not quite. I opened the kit box of this War emergency gondola from Life-Like and found out there was a pad-printing defect.

 LL_hopper by Edmund, on Flickr

My story is — the car shop replaced several side-sheets and didn't bother with stenciling the W A B on the side. When I get around to weathering I'll be sure to make those panels look "new".
