It's not so hard to understand Ulrich. We all want to be different even though growing up we tried so hard we all ended up looking similarly. First it was wingtips with Levis, then pegged pants (I could fit them on back then) then wide striped dress shirts (thank you Beach Boys) then later wide wale courderoys and then.. well you get the idea. Colored hair is just the latest and fortunately hair grows out after a while unlike more permanent tatoos. I do remember some of the school board being scandalized when our student representative showed up with green hair in the Eighties. See above. It's just a desire to be noticed like working out in a sweater.

In Baltimore we didn't have Dick Clark, we had the Buddy Dean Show. Teens would dance on TV, with the guys wearing sports coats. He also hosted local "record hops" He had Buddy Holly appear live and there were these Baltimore kids in their church dress, staring warily at the band, getting ready wearing cowboy boots.
Once they started playing music, everybody loved this.

She had an athletic body with some after market parts you won't see in a Walthers catalog. I guess I'm not a fan of psychedelic colored hair. I have never understood why so many women undertake just about anything possible to make themselves look as ugly as can be.

I've seen plenty of that around my neck of the woods. I somewhat understand thier reasoning for it but will never know the reasons that triggered it from their past
Nicky at Judy's work has the wild purple hair. I always stop to talk to her after dropping Judy off. I can tell it makes her feel happy. I even talk to strangers with the wild colored hair. I see their blank faces turn to a smile.
There is usually something wrong with those people. There's a little something wrong with all of us for that matter. Fortunately for most of us it isn't that bad.

I also never had the desire to be "one of the pack". "The pack" just flocked around me. Petra tells me I am the prototype of an alpha male and fulfill all characteristics associated with the zodiac sign "Leo".

Those are great rail car photos. We had the same issues with light rail further south in Ct. with the Budd cars as they would tend to go to ground at snow/ice packed crossings in winter and also frequently not trip crossing signals. Despite that they carried on to the end of the New Haven as they were much less expensive to run both for maintainence and crew costs.
I think herd instincts are still hard to break and if we weren't all a little addled life would be boring. Ciao, J.R.

Good morning. It's cold out right now, but will warm up into the 40s today!
The forecast is warm, 40s, for Christmas, with no snow. All the grandkids are upset. They all come for several days for Christmas, and they don't get snow where they live. They like to sled when we get a white Christmas. We'll have to find something else to do this year.
Fads and styles are funny. When I was in college, I and everyone of my male friends had long hair, actually past our shoulders. Add to that bell bottom ragged jeans, leather items, etc., and we were the picture of 1960s flower people.
All that ended when we graduated and got real jobs.
I can't bring myself to condemn kids' fads today, even though I don't necessarily like them. I just remember how I must have looked to my parents when I came home from school back then.
My friend in Gilbert, AZ, called last night and told me about the railway museum there that had an open house. I think the museum is in Chandler. There are quite a few private cars parked there, and most of them were open to walk through. He was so excited, and said I MUST come there next year for the open house. It's sounds like that's really something to see.

York1I can't bring myself to condemn kids' fads today, even though I don't necessarily like them.
I can't either, I just wish they (along with millenials) would look up from their phone once in a while, especially while driving.
I used to classify stollen right up there with fruit cake, as they always seamed hard or dried out, no matter who's grandma made it.
That changed this week when the wife went to an Aldi grocery store. We usually don't go there much, but she wanted a German made stolen. So she found a stolen named Winternacht Marzipan Stollen, a product of Germany.
I have now acquired a love for stollen. Whats hard to resist, is you pour a cup of coffee, and you immediately need a slice of stollen to go with it, no matter how many slices you've already had.
My train room is currently occupied by "Santa's Workshop", as I'm making a vanity, for our place up north, using reclaimed (barn) wood, along with a wood framed mirror on the medicine cabinet, and misc towel racks and sheving, all using the same wood, as a present to the wife. Just about done, so I can clean up the mess and get back to trains!

That´s the one we had and it was absolutely d-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s! Best In ever had, even beating the Christstollen from Dresden we had a few years ago, which cost us a fortune! The Aldi Stollen sold for the equivalent of $3,60.

Shortly after take off, the captain came through with an announcement asking for our understanding, that neither food nor drinks were to be served during this particular flight. Yep! It was some ride! I was the only one onboard not sick!

I was surprised to find out how old the Millenials have grown. Some of them are knocking on the door of their 40s now. Generation Z is starting college.

The Arizona Railway Museum is a pretty amazing place. The next open house is scheduled for leap day (2/29) next year. Going during the open house is the best way to see the trains. It is open other days, but most of the trains are closed to the public.

I've only been sick on a plane a couple of times, but it wasn't the flight as much as the previous evening's festivities.
Once though, the flight was so rough I looked around and located the emergency exits. We came in and aborted the landing, they temporarily closed the airport for weather, and we went somewhere else. After an hour, the front went through and we flew to the correct airport.
I was on the clock all that time, and my beer at the intermediate destination was on the expense account.

I just got home from my last day at wxxk. It feels really good that I'm off for two and a half weeks.
I always enjoy Winter Break. Last year we went on a big road trip vacation touring the South. This year we have a couple family gatherings so we're going on staycation.
I sure am looking forward to taking a break from hard labor and doing some relaxing craftsmanship for a change. Time to dust off the Model Railroad and get at it again

LOL, ah.... No! I was elected to the Board at my church and served in active positions for 9 years (once a Deacon, always a Deacon). I was "Moderator" (Person who leads the meetings) of the Board for 5 of those years. In my denomination we are not considered "Clergy" but rather trained helpers. We visit the sick, staff many functions, and can actually do services or take communion to shut ins or hospitalized members if/as needed. There is a bit of training nessessary for the position. I led worship quite often in various churches as the director of a youth musical group supported/sponsored by the Presbytery.
Hopefully my behavior is in line with both my church, my ethics, and the law!!!

Hello again.
It was a trying last day at wxxk. My custom doors came in and I picked them up this morning.
This is an old house and the finished opening for the entry door height was an inch and a half too short.
I'm not real fond about cutting special order custom doors to make them fit..... Nervous Nellie. Then after you cut the bottom of the door off you got to recore it. The floor was out of level a 1/2 inch from one side of the jamb to the other Then you got to cut the jam lengths at different heights. This isn't my first rodeo. I got that done.
The height of the louvered bi-fold door opening was an inch too short too. The top of the opening was a half inch out of square in 3 feet. I dealt with that one too and made it work
Ain't my first rodeo and won't be my last...... now I got two and a half weeks off!
