Tinplate ToddlerHave a happy Halloween, y´all over at the other end of the Big Pond!
Thanks Ulrich.
Unfortunately the weather in eastern Canada is going to be pretty nasty on Halloween this year. Southern Ontario is expecting heavy rains, and Montreal has actually postponed the trick or treating until tomorrow night.
We stopped giving out treats a couple of years ago. We getting very few kids at the door and to get to our house they had to either walk down the side of the road or cross it. There are no sidewalks on our side and nobody else on our side gives out treats anymore. Given that so many stupid drivers don't see the need to drive slowly when the kids are out, we felt that making the children cross the street was not worth the risk.

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
cudakenProblem was Citi Bank / Master card decided I did not need it! Bang Head I norally don't buy on line. Plus I have never bought from Newegg.com So when I tried to cash out I was stopped! Bang Head Called Citi Bank and they said Master Card stopped the purchase not them?
Has happened to me several times, and I only have one card, a company card, but it has my name on it and each user has their own limits. If I need to spend over my limit I get the business manager's card (numbers) and go ahead with the order.
When this happens I call the card company right then and there (The number is on your card), usually this is because my number has been compromised and they shut it down.
Once I reported that YES, I was trying to make a purchase from Nottingham England. Then it went right throug.
Mostly the ask me if I bought thus and such from so and so in Alabama or some other such place where I have never been.
They then send me a new card, but that takes about a week.
Credit Rating: I have none. The only reason why they know that I exist is because the card company canceled a card.
But that is to be expected since I have no work history, I pay no rents, and I have no cards in my name. To them I do not exist.

Good Afternoon!
I feel a little strange today - sleepy and with my BP undecided to be way under or way above my usual figure. Side effects of the flu shot? Maybe.
A perfect afternoon and night for Halloween! Nice, dry and crisp air - ideal for trick or treating! Celebrating Halloween is not anchored into our traditions and has only been introduced maybe 20 years ago. It has worn off its novelty by now and there have been less and less kids going for treats. None at all in my neighborhood. But then we are not of Celtic origin here, but of Saxon descent.
I gather there is a good degree of consent to the November Diner location in Georgia, so Georgia it shall be!
Have a happy Halloween, y´all over at the other end of the Big Pond!
Happy times!

Far as Georgia goes, been there and done that. I was sent to Fort Gordon by mistake then to Fort Macallan in Alabama for Military Police Acadmy. Then back to Georgia to Fort Benning where I learned to fall down. Jan will get this remark. Home of the Air Born.

Afternoon Folks!
Have a couple free minutes to stop by and say "Hi"!
Hi!
Geeeeooohhhgiaaahhhhhh??? Good as anyplace I guess. Last Time I drove through Georgia I (and my son) got snowed in up in Nohth Caahhhrollahna about 5 miles North of the state line. Hardeeville??? Folks down there have no clue how to deal with a foot of the frozen white stuff!
Anyway, I have driven around Savanna Georgia several times but never got anywhere really near Atlanta. That was on my way from Geneva, NY to Geneva, FL to visit my sister, the Rev., down there over the Holy Days at the end of the year a few times. Might be interstin?
Monday and today I broke a lifetime record of actually running more than a mile nonstop! Today I managed to run 6.5 full laps of the fieldhouse track at the end of my workput to get 1.2 miles at the end of the workout. Total miles today of running..... 4.5 miles. Total distance at the fieldhouse, 5.4 miles. Not bad for an old phart turning 73 in less than a month!
Tonight I am taking a lovely retired Gym Teacher to Eastman Theater in Rochester to see the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Winton Marsalis concert. She told me last time I saw her that she is really looking forward to it.... So am I!!!
Leaves are big time dropping from the trees in my neighborhood... If the rain holds off tomorrow, I plan to mow lawn and mulch the leaves while I do that.... Otherwise, they can just blow over to someone elses property and they can rake and have the city collect them so the city can mulch them and give away the results of that in the spring......
Have a great day!

BroadwayLionBut does Atlanta have commuter trains?
.
Yes, MARTA operates a network of commuter trains in the Atlanta Metropolitan area.

Living the dream.
BATMANTahiti, it is the most beautiful place I have ever been to. Surely someone somewhere in French Polynesia must have a model railroad that would qualify the country.
The island of Makatea in French Polynesia had an industrial railroad, serving the phosphate mines, connecting them with the loading dock. The operation closed down in 1963.
There seems to be negotiations ongoing with China Rail to build a rail network in Tahiti.
Tahiti Rail, however, is an extinct bird.
Tinplate ToddlerLet us hear your suggestions, please!

Good morning from a sunny West Coast where it is 0c.
I still feel like crap and didn't sleep a wink last night. Got lots of small jobs around the house done yesterday, isn't that what you do when you feel like death? At least the Canucks are on the tube tonight.
I have known this couple for about 40 years, she was a telephone operator and her hobby was entering contest. In the last 25 years since the internet came online, she has made over a $100,000.00 a year by winning cars, trips appliances, and cash awards. They end up selling just about everything they have won. They live in a very nice oceanfront home as a result of the winnings over the years.
A while back the wife and I ate out at the airport and on the receipt, there was take a survey to win $500.00 Amazon gift certificate. I gave it to her and reminded her about our friend. She took the survey online, it took her about two minutes and she won the $500.00! Go figure. All lottery and contest wins are tax-free in Canada. Effort in, reward out.
Well I guess I had better go build me a great big plate of bacon and eggs, I was feeling a little wasted and hopped on the scale and I am down about 8 pounds from where I should be. There are six Golden Retrievers around me sound asleep here in the kitchen as I type. The smell of bacon cooking should end their slumber. They say owning a dog will make you live longer, fighting off six of them for my bacon will easily put me North of a 100.
All the best to all.

Tigers are fond of pecan pie, and have never been to Atlanta as that must be somewhere in Gerogia. I hear that is a peach opf a state.
Anyway, AMTK calls there only twice a day, once in each direction.
You can get that same service in Rugby, North Dakota.
But does Atlanta have commuter trains?
The LION wants to know. Maybe he can find himself some tasty commuters for breakfast..

Gentlemen,
We will be concluding the month of October tomorrow and need to agree upon a new location for the month as well as a host guiding us. The Bear did a marvelous job in presenting his wonderful country to us, so I´d like to extend my thanks to him!
Let us hear your suggestions, please!
Hello everybody.
i hope all of you are doing well.
We are enjoying our Arizona trip. We are mostly visiting with family members we will
be back home on Sunday.
I welded together my Outlet Flange to 4" pipe adapter for my new paint booth! Still moving forward with this project.
I am not the world's best welder, but this will hold together and not leak.
Good morning. It's snowing again, and it's cold.
Looks like another day in the house.
On the plus side, it's a good day for a fire in the fireplace, and bacon and eggs for breakfast.
Those of you in the south, enjoy the time outdoors.

Before going for a mid-day snooze (that flu shot makes me sleepy), I thougjt I´d share a rather recent (uploaded yesterday) video of Bear´s favorite steam engine!
I´d love the narrator´s accent!
Good Morning!
A beautiful morning! Sunny, but cold and crisp! Went to see my doc this morning to get my annual flu shot. I had to de-ice the windows of my car for the first time this season!
Bear - that stuff looks like a lot of toothache (but delicious). We are closing in on noon, so I will save one for desert!
Tinplate Toddlerour plans of moving to Denmark appear to go up in smoke.
I'm sorry to hear that Ulrich. I can imagine how disappointed you and Petra are. Please don't give up on your dreams. You never know what opportunities might come along.
Evening.
Well, vacation time is over. Judy and I arrived back home at 3:00 this afternoon. The week went by way too fast.
We returned the rental car and figured.... hey let's go see what the boys are doing at Cowboys.
I got this running tackle hug thing coming in the back door from the GM Ryan and then a warm welcome from all my friends. I didn't want to come back home today but now I'm glad to be here.
It wasn't even a minute and 30 seconds after I arrived and the country western song playing was terminated and Ted Nugent Stranglehold started playing and was turned up loud. Ryan knows that's one of my favorite songs.
We gave Marky Mark his Irish t-shirt we purchased from Blarney's Pub. It made him happy.
What a warm welcome home, our friends missed us, we missed them too.
Friends are Great.

BroadwayLionWhat about Sweeden? There are not EU and may have different rules.
Sweden is a member state of the EU since 1995. They are not a member state of the NATO and still retain their own currency.
Moving to Sweden is out of question - for reasons not to be discussed here.
John, it can be hit and miss finding styrene for sale in China. Go to eBay and do a search for styrene. I order stuff from China all the time and delivery time has gone from an average of three weeks to a week usually.
York1I need to be more careful. I am scratchbuilding a structure and I use styrene. I had just enough of a thickness to finish the building. Measured, cut, glued on pieces, painted. Then when I got ready to finish, I found I had the piece reversed, and it will not work that way. Living in my small town, the nearest place to buy is 45 miles away. If I order online, it will take several days (unless I spend a fortune for shipping). I even went to the farm supply store to see if they had a plastic "For Sale" sign or something similar.

Have you tried a sign making shop? If you have one, they often use styrene just like us, and might let you even have a scrap or pick up a larger piece.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
Good afternoon from the land of sunshine, it is 12c and I feel like crap.
I have been surrounded by sickos for the last two weeks and it finally got me. I woke up with a bad headache ( I never get headaches ) a runny nose and it feels like someone has shoved a knife down my throat and I have the shakes. I am already feeling slightly better than this morning so that is a good sign, I usually get over these bugs really quickly.
Ran both my Hudsons for a couple of hours this morning having got one back from Rapido yesterday. The one I just got back is running slower than the other one but got faster as the time past. Still not sure of what the problems have been, if they have put a different kind of motor in them a little speed matching will be required. Not sure what I am going to do with my drawer full of Easy Peasy Lighting Systems I have received from Rapido. I may use them when/if I build the Royal train to go behind my Hudson. I have found exact matches for some of the cars, however, they are all brass and very expensive.
Charlie, my wife has a bell on the doorknob the dogs ring if they need to go out to do their business, they don't ring it if they just want to go out.
The roof of my roundhouse does not fit as snugly as I would like so I think I am going to put some very small magnets in strategic places to solve the problem. Not today though.
My Daughter has been quite sick for the last two weeks and is slogging it out at University, she had the flu that turned into a lung infection and was throwing up as well, so today they are working with maggots and worms in dead flesh. She is having a tough go of it in the lab, that sort of thing would not normally bother her at all but today it is. I haven't seen a flu season like this in a long time, it seems to be hitting everyone. I'll have to get my flu shot when I get better.
Okay, I have sat on my butt long enough, maybe I'll go walk to the John Deere and if I have enough energy after that, get on and cut the grass.
CNCharlieUlrich, sorry to hear that your move plans have hit a roadblock.
What about Sweeden?
There are not EU and may have different rules.
Still at our age, they will want you to be self-supporting.
Of course the US requires that too, but I'll stop this line of thought here.
