That´s why my recipe for a happy marriage is to take full cover, become invisible when your hear her saying that. It seems to work - we are married for 35 years and still going strong!
Edit: I see I got top of the page - so breakfast is on me, you chowhounds!
Happy times!

Tinplate ToddlerWhat a night! It was too hot in our place to keep the windows shut, but leaving them open invited an army of mosquitos that buzzed around me, keeping me from getting a good night´s sleep.
Ulrich, why no screens? Are the mosquitos a newer thing or have you always had them?
Window screens are standard issue on every operating window east of the Rocky Mountains in Canada. Thanks to changes in our climate the mosquitos are now carrying things like West Nile Virus that were unknown 15 years ago. Apparently other unpleasant things are on the way thanks to the mosquitos as well.
Another option might be insect repellent if you can get it. It won't stop the bugs from flying around you but it will pretty much stop them from biting.

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
hon30critterUlrich, are the mosquitos a newer thing or have you always had them?
Not really. This is a rather humid environment - ideal for this pest. We have screens on our windows, but somehow, a few of those nighttime warriors manage to sneak in. I have not more than 3 mosquito bites in total for this season, so that´s still OK. I just wonder why Petra never gets bitten and I have all the fun?
Mosquitos... Let those of us from Florida tell you all about mosquitos.
.
We have them from sizes so small that screens do not help. Most people call those "No-See-Ems". I have been told the No-See-Em is actually a biting fly and not a mosquito. I don't know, I have never seen one.
Then we have some so large that they should have FAA ID numbers on them.
We also have some that are almost armor plated. Don't swat those when they are on you... just brush them away.
I am heading to Orlando. Everyone have a great day.

Good morning.
The mosquito is always joked as the Minnesota state bird. We have a lot of them.
Well, ....so much for my extra long weekend. It's back to wxxk for me this morning. Have a great rest of your week all.

It sounds like Petra and I have something in common. Mrs. ROR will be eaten alive by mosquitos and I won't have a single bite. I think it is because I have vinegar for blood.
Today's excitement--I am headed in to have my leg x-rayed. Last week I tipped the motorcycle over on my right leg and it doesn't seem to be healing as quick as it should. I went to the doctor yesterday and he ordered up a set of x-rays.

Good morning. I'm trying reverse psychology on myself this morning. Instead of saying how much I hate mowing grass, I'm changing my attitude. I have the privilege this morning of working on my lawn! I enjoy it so much I wish I could cut grass every day.
We used to get "no-see-ums" at the Gulf coast beach. If I remember, insect repellents did not stop them from biting. I think I remember my wife used Johnson's baby lotion and it would stop them.
One of the strange things about living in New Orleans is that even though it was surrounded by swamps, I remember very few mosquitos. Of course, we lived in Mid-City, miles from the nearest swamp.
After I enjoy cutting my grass this morning, I will have time to finish some minor things on my layout!

I'm beginning to realize that Windows 10 and sound decoders have a lot in common. There are so many things you have to change in order to get them to work the way you want.

I knew that it is only the female mosquitos which bites you, but I´d rather be attractive to the female of my own specie than a mosquito.
We just had a terrific downpour, which made things really bad. It is now steaming hot and I can hardly breathe. No sign that it will cool off a little.

I need to enjoy cutting my grass, but it keeps raining. I will enjoy baling my hay.
I had no issues with Mosquitos in New Orleans when we were there in June.
In Houston they had gassed up a mosquito at Hobby Airport before they relaized it was no a plane.
I live right on a marsh, but I have not been bitten by a mosquito all summer.
With all the meds I take, though, my blood is probably toxic.

I had all the time I needed to have a stress-free drive to Orlando today from Miami, so I took US Route 27 the entire way for some good rural scenery.
The day was beautiful. As I drove through Clewiston, the Sugar Cane harvesting has just begun for 2019.
The skies were gorgeous. I never had any rain on the trip where I was driving, but it was raining off in the distance all day.

It is finally done and it was a pain in the caboose! I have all of the statements in one form or another for the coming SS Inquisition! Does not help that I am old figuring out there web sites and passwords and such was a pain. While at 63 I and not decrepited but my computer is. In computer years it is around 104. It has a whole 2 Gigs of Ram and that was a up grade I did a few years ago and it is maxed out.
I am bring Sparkie home Wednesday. For the last 25 years we have had all of our 4 legged family cremated and take them to Bulid a Bear. They are in stuffed pups now. Sonya, Tiff and Shaddy are still with us. Sparkie will all so stay with us for ever. I told him this was is forever family and I meant it. Who ever goes first, the dogs will join them in the casket.
Starting to look forward to meeting Pop Corn the new American Eskimo. While I hope the wife does not want him but she will. I do miss seeing a dog when I come home. I really be all for it if my wife was 15 years younger! Well i she was, we be Wolfhound shopping! Ok make that 35 years younger!

Good morning, everyone. Bacon, eggs, and black coffee. I love mornings.
The morning walk on the trail was sunny and cool.
Not much going on today. Got the car fixed yesterday, got the prescriptions filled, got the lawn mowed, -- I've got a blank slate day today!
I'm willing to bet I can fill the day working on the layout.
Ken, Social Security works once set up, but contacting them on the phone is almost impossible. They expect you to wait on hold for hours. Use a cell phone and keep it with you at all times if you request a call back.
Write down your password when you set the account up, but expect to update it frequently because they force you to do that.
Good afternoon ...
Kevin .... I just updated an old thread we had in PM's .... I hope you recieve it.
Ken .... You briefly answered about your interest in some day visiting my layout. Of Course, you and other regular Diner Patrons are welcome. Kevin said he might have time to visit when he is on a trip to Nashville.
MLC.... I can let you know if Kevin and I can firm up a time. Otherwise, feel free to come anyhow.
Currently, there are two model railroad layouts here at the lake. Other than mine, a friend of mine who is a retired IC RR locomotive Engineer has a very nice IC RR layout.

I hope everything's been somewhat normal around here since I flew the coop. Last time I was around it was mosquitoes and PF mixed with MR across-the-board
$2 burger night at cowboys tonight. It was good to see the boys. I was pretty good. I only had three beers and did not need to take the cab home tonight.
Hump day yeah! I think from this day forward I will always go to Cowboys on $2 burger night. Always good to see old friends and the socialization brightens up my midweek
PS If you did wonder, ........ Judy loves to go too.
Track fiddlerI hope everything's been somewhat normal around here since I flew the coop.
I had to cut my grass, my wife is upset at me, and my favorite baseball team got killed again.
Everything's normal as far as I'm concerned.
Well John, ..... to be honest with you, ... I always loved cutting the grass.
Judy never gets upset, she's like a little angel, ... she only gets even. You decide which way is better
As far as Sports. I hate to say it. The Vikings track record is they always start great, continue great and then mess up in the end. I had this conversation with Terry a few days ago.
Things that make you go hummm.

Track Fiddler's on top. I went to go post on that other site because I had something to say. I saw it was closed, ..... that's good.
I have 13 channels of crap on the TV to choose from. Don't want to mix up MR with PF in a bowl and stir it together with a wooden spoon.
No I would not want to do that.
We are all good here

Doesn't appear to be that way.
Confident I am! Always have been. Do you have something to say to me?
A little derogatory and vague in your delivery. You kind of hurt my feelings with your short words but not really
