My favorite is the first D&H caboose I got, shown here in Rouses Point.

Show me your favorite caboose.

Oh, there are so many! Like picking a favorite child or grandchild.

Well, this one was built from a kit (AMB) and I like the work-a-day look of these NYC wood cabooses:

Show me some more kitbashing

This is an Athearn Blue Box boxcar, with ends and doors from Tichy, a Viking roof from Des Plaines Hobbies, a modified underbody from Central Valley, and door tracks and running boards built-up, piece-by-piece, from Evergreen strip styrene.  The trucks are Walthers (formerly LifeLike Proto2000) National B-1s.
I built eight of them, all with about 6"(HO) removed from just below the original strip of rivets at the car's eaves....

The project is covered STARTING HERE, and continues for a number of pages.  It's also preceded by four pages of upgrades to various commonly-available freight cars.  Decently detailed cars, don't have to cost an arm and a leg (or two).

Two HOn30 flatcars; the tractor and seed drill loads had scratch built blocking and the seed drill had to be slightly kitbashed to make it fit on the narrow car

Perfect.  It's the small things in life that make me happy.  Someone I know indirectly sure did a good job of doing that.  This kind gesture will be returned.

More of the same please. Or custom-made like this.

Bachmann's Frankford Junction Kit considerably modified for the BRVRR's Black River Station.

Speaking of Hamilton, Wayne, I thought you might like this:

Cheers, Ed

Thanks for that postcard view of the CNR station, Ed.  It's long gone, but the yard, to the right, is still in use.  There's a larger station to the east (behind the viewer of the picture), built in the '30s, but it's now privately owned.
GO Transit, the provincial commuter service, has built a new station nearby, but it's still in only limited use.

I really enjoy this thread, but I don't visit it much because I can't just pick up at the last post where I left off. I have to scrool around to find the post I last saw to pick it up again. Is there a way to go to the last unread post on this forum? If so, I can't figure it out.

Yes, on the main page showing the list of threads, simply left-click on the words "replied to this thread" which appear after the name of the last person who posted.

It doesn't always work as it should - in this case, it took me to your post, (quoted above) then the view reverted to a post 4 or 5 places earlier, although still on the last page.  When the thread length surpasses three pages (I think) it's sometimes otherwise difficult to find the latest post, but this method at least should put you on the proper page.

You said "Favorite Railroad". Well here is a favorite scene and a Favorite Railroad. It is the East Cenral Indiana railroad. The scene was set up years back, but is still operational today.

Another Favorite Scene if you will.

...Please show your favorite railroad.

I'm no longer modelling the diesel era, so will need to build 2 or 3 TH&B steam locomotives.  I already have plenty of TH&B rolling stock, though.

Show me your favorite railroad!

Another challenging choice! My first "train set" was B&O but my dad would often take me to the big Collinwood yard here in Cleveland to watch New York Central trains. Then years later I began to hang around the Pennsylvania Railroad territory and became enamored with their "Standard Railroad of the World" operations.

OK, if I had to pick one it would have to be the New York Central:

Show me more of your favourite scenes, please.

Some of you may recall when I made this picture a bit ago. The only scene I have ever photographed, inclusive of a few scenery items placed especially for the photo, I guess I've taken a page from Kevin's book!

This photo also contains (one off) my favorite railroads(s)! Show me your favorite railroad!
