Track fiddler
Can anyone hear lend me a little support?

The only support I can give is to do what I did when I retired.  I retired the phone.  I have been liberated from someone being able to contact me 24/7.  I have been liberated from checking messages and mail 100 times a day.

I know it won't work for most people, but it sure made my life 99% easier.

Edit - top of the page.  The first round is on me.  And the second.  After that, you're on your own.  The doctor told me only two drinks per day.

Good morning.  Once again, it's a beautiful morning on the plains.  After my walk, it has clouded up and it now looks like rain.

I am frustrated.  I am trying to use JMRI, and after several hours of work, I still can't get it working.  I've checked helpsites and youtube -- there's plenty of info, but none of it works.

I've gotten used to electronic things that work when you turn them on.  When I worked, I just told our tech guy what was needed, and it was done.  Unfortunately, when the job went, so did tech guy.

Garry, glad to hear surgery went well.

You need to get a 12 year old to do this for you.

i finished moving into the house finally.  In the process though, I've misplaced my airbrush. Job hunt is looking profitable Finally.   How's everyone been since I've been gone?

When I tryed to set up the JMRI Operations thing last summer, I got really excited about it and started getting all fancy before I knew how to do the basic's. Starting overer and following the tutorial slowly got things working again. Give it a try, it may work!

Welcome back Jimmy!

I'm back from the north woods.  I'm surprised how things can get out of hand around the house, and yard, while I'm gone.

Oh well, it will keep me busy for the rest of the week!  Of course, just in time for a rain event.

Evening, all,

Just stopping by after work.

Steven - man, you got some problems.  I think everyone gets a crazy one at some point.  Just hang in there, and keep it professional at work.  You'll be ok.

Kevin - that sunrise photo is amazing.  Thanks for posting that!

Anyway, I got a dog to walk and tacos to make, so I'll catch you all later on!

That's what upsets me.  I followed the directions word for word.  I have quit for a while and will take it up again when my blood pressure goes down.

Yes, that's always a good idea with tech issues (or issues in general!).

In one final attemp at tech help I will ask you when the last time was that you completely shut down/restarted your computor, if your answer is a week or more try doing that! No joke, it solves 90% of tech issues!

With me lowering the sensitinity on the pressure plate I was sure I would catch raccoon last night. In fact I was dreading doing what I needed to do this morining! Wife came out and told me something was rasien holy heck outside! Went outside to where tha trap was and I saw a squirrel run from the drection of that trap and go up a tree!

Brought In The Marshallow Dispenser and going to try to modify the pressure plate. I am going to catch something dam it!

Ulrich,

Recieved a response from Ulrich today. He and Petra are back in Hamburg again. He is looking at a three part by-pass, believe that is what prompted the return. He asked me to give his best to all here. So done---

Ulrich,

Just spoke with Ulrich on the phone. He is scheduled for heart surgery this next Monday, I'm sure he will appreciate any prayers/kind thoughts, sent his way. Other than removing the dust, he has done nothing with his layout....perhaps rightfully so... still planning on leaving Hamburg after his surgery.

Reasonably certain he will have a post at some point to all here.

Ken,

1. Park the cuda in the driveway, raise the hood, make sure the engine will turn over.

2. Grab a lawn chair, place in a sheltered location.

3. Pour 1/2 bag of marshmallows on ground near opening in sofit.

4. Load .410 with #4 shot.

5. When coon shows up for grub----..........

6. If there are any complaints in the neighborhood, use cuda as aliby, backfired whilst trying to start.

7. Make a hat----------

Finally had summer two days ago, got up to 76 deg, this past morning poured 4" of scattered showeres out if the rain gauge, 46 deg. as I write this, started fire in the stove. Can't wait for fall.

I read the NTSB full report on that wreck that Lion shows, it was pretty gruesome.  You can imagine what happened to the engineer and conductor on that loaded coal BNSF coal train.

Rain in WI today, pretty much state wide, that's ok, I have plenty of things to catch up on.

I did get all of my work spaces completely cleaned up after my overhead crane and caboose projects.  I won't show pictures, as you won't believe it, you'll acuse me of using a photo program to eliminate the cludder!  Laugh

I think I'll just leave the work areas that way until it's model railroading season again.  Smile, Wink & Grin

Wishing the best for Ulrich on his surgery.

I would have had that racoon problem taken care of a long time ago.  They have a shot for that condition. Pirate

I'll probably be spending the week of the 24th back in the WI. North woods, and back to work on our place.

I'll take some pictures this time.

Have a great Wed.

Mike.

Good Evening,

Finally a fairly nice day here with a temp of about 70F and sunny.

Didn't get a lot done outside as my wife is the gardiner and she hasn't been feeling well for some weeks now. Went to the doc and they are doing a test to see if she picked up some sort of bug when we were in Africa in April.  Hope they can get it sorted out.

Ulrich, good luck on the surgery! By-pass surgery is fairly routine here and I imagine it is the same in Germany. Still it is a major operation. Hope all goes well with your residence relocation too.

Ken, some years ago I bought a trap for squirrels and found peanut butter on the trigger worked well. We don't trap them now as we have resident red squirrel in our garage who chases all others away. He has only done a small amount of damage. Besides how can you get mad at a little wild critter that comes to you when you call his name. Basil, by the way.

Last night we rented a movie, The Favourite, for which the lead won an Oscar. She was great but the movie itself was very thin on plot and interest.

If I can ever stop paying telephone tag with the Parts Dept., I should soon have the bits needed to repair our gas fireplace. The dealer in Winnipeg has had them on order for 5 months. The service guy said he thought there may be problem with the local dealer so I called the manufacturer direct. I have a feeling there is a credit issue. As I ran the credit dept for True Value Hardware in Canada I have a fair amount of experience is such situations. I'll order the parts direct and the service fellow will install as he is an independent working for the local dealer.

I actually ran a train last night for about 5 minutes. I moved it from the water tank to the station. Maybe I'll soon send it on a run. Need to think about making a switch to a beach passenger train as I usually do at this time of year. A Pacific pulling some heavyweights was what I remember as a kid when my parents rented a cottage for the summer. CN ran a line up to Victoria Beach on Lake Winnipeg that had daily passenger service right through the late '50s.

Time to get something to eat.
