Howdy .... Well, I'm way behind with everything; so this is too brief. ..... I'm glad to see so many of your here.

MLC, Ulrich, Jim, GP35 (Galaxy), Henry, John and anyone I missed (sorry ) .... Thanks for your concern about my recovering from surgery.

Henry ... Thanks for your insights about bladder cancer. My urologists believes I won't have a problem. When I get the biopsy result, that should confirm that.

Ulrich .... Thanks for your update on your situation. Prayers for your surgery coming up and also for you and Petra to have a peaceful life in the furture.

Galaxy (GP35) ... Thanks to you also for the update on your sututation. Evidently, you have much to be concerned about. Prayers for you.

Ray .... I must have missed out on how your lunch date went. I hope it was good .

Nitany Lion .... Good seeing you again.... Best wishes shopping for a house with your wife.

MLC ... Congrats to Mrs. MLC. ... Sounds like a real honor.

I might not be back her until Saturday..... Hopefully, I can catch up with each of you this weekend.

Sorry I'm so brief..... Cheers !

we now have to file for guardianship with financial and personal guardianship, but we are getting the runaround to get the forms and where to file. so theres THAT stress too.

Galaxy, I'm the guardian for my mentally handicapped brother.  The paperwork and the filing will drive you crazy.  On top of that, our state changes the forms nearly every year, so you can't use much of last year's forms to help.

Hope your health and stess have reached a bottom, and things will start to improve.

I think I got my cell phone virus thing worked out.  I got a brand new cell phone and I think I'm going back on track here.

Now here's to Johnny.

I hear the train a Comin,  it's rolling around the bend,  and I haven't seen the sunshine since I don't know when.  I'm stuck in Folsom Prison and time keeps dragging on.

But that train keeps a rollin on down to ??? San Anton?

When I was just a baby my mommy told me son.  Always be a good boy don't ever play with guns but I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die.

When I hear that whistle blowing I hang my head and cry.

I bet there's Rich folks eating in a fancy dining car,  they're probably drinking coffee and smoking big cigars

But I know I had it coming, I know I can't be free, but those people keep on moving, and that's what tortures me.

And if they free me from this prison if that Railroad train was mine I bet I'd move it on a little further down the line,  far from Folsom Prison.  That's where I'd want to be

And I'd let that Lonesome Whistle Blow My Blues Away.

Don't you just love Johnny.

Or maybe a compromise... we can talk about a raptor named Blue...

Good morning, everyone.  Great day for walking the trail -- about 55°.  Rained last night, but clear this morning.

I saw the news that UP's 4014 will be coming by in a few weeks.  Can't wait.

Hope the health problems go away enough for some of you so you can enjoy the Friday.

Hello all. Well, two days in a row again.

Yesterday was the 1 yr anniversary of my dad's passing. Rough day-very rough.

So, today is job hunting again, hopefully figuring out how to change the cord on a dryer (3- to a4 prong) and then a train event tonight.

Tomorrow is the first outdoors concert of the season in my town-a tribute to the Beatles. Thesr guys actually were here last year and did something for me. The evening  they played was the day of the funeral, so i talked to the singer and they dedicated a song in memory of my dad, and after, gave me a hug.

Lion, you would have liked a guy I knew.  He lived about 10 miles from our town.  He would pick up his son from school and then stop at the grocery store.

The father would buy a steak, and the son would buy a frozen pizza.  They would eat them, uncooked, on the way home.

Well I feel very overwelmed right about now. I decided last spring that next year I would take 4 Advanced Placement classes (thats college level classes in high school) next year, and at my school they come with BIG summer homework assignments! I just got another one through the internet today, not exactly looking forward to doing it...

That can't be the healthy way to eat a steak! I'm going to make a very unpopular statement here but I prefer my steaks with no red meat remaining. I just don't rare meat! I can't get how so many other people do!

Have a good day everyone!

Good Evening!

An uneventful day, for which I am grateful! Thr weather was kind of awkward though, a mix of sunshine, thunderstorms, and heavy rainfall made me feel like in India during the monsoon. Not my kind of weather!

I have not yet orderd the warship kit - maybe I go for something cheaper at first. I have two days to decide.

I just don't rare meat! I can't get how so many other people do!

Some folks don´t like raw fish as in Sushi, and I have to admit, that I had my reservations about it prior to being force-fed with it while I stayed in Japan. There are a few things I like, but some would never make their way onto my plate.

Raw meat is not unusual. The French like Steak Tartar, which is raw ground beef, served as a patty with a raw egg on top and onions, capers and sometimes mustard along with it. Before eating you have to blend all of it.

Not my thing.

In Germany, we eat "Mett", which is raw ground pork. It has to be eaten very soon after preparation. It is usually served on a roll, with onions on top of it. Add salt and pepper.

I don´t dislike it, but I don´t fancy it, either.

I eat my steak usually done medium, closee to black on the outside, and still pink inside! However, I can´t remember when I had a steak last time - must have been over a decade ago! Too expensive!

Have a great weekend, folks!

Happy times!

Good morning from the refreshingly cooler West coast. Can't remember the last time it rained. Had only a third of normal amounts in May.

Ken, I was cheering for the Blues to win from before the final round started as they have always been a favourite team of mine. When the blues and North Stars came into the league in 1967 I bought pennants for both teams and I still have them. They are in really good condition.

Good to see the NBA cup come home to where Basketball was invented. I enjoyed playing basketball and baseball a lot as a younger person, however I just could not get into watching either. I purposely only watch hockey as it is my sport and sitting in front of the TV watching too much sports is a waste of a good life. I prefere to participate. I played very competitive fast pitch softball in an industrial league for a few years and enjoyed that a lot.

Garry, glad to read things look good for you on the health front.

Ulrich, My Mom had a quintuple bypass at 80 and had many enjoyable years afterwards. The fact she kept in such good shape by being very active and had a really good diet made it possible for her to have the surgery at 80. She was a good example for me to follow. Once she recovered from her bypass she was right back to driving 80kms to field train dogs for competition and had many titles on many dogs to show for her efforts.

My daughter killed it in her final exams and will be getting a ton of scholarships as a result. Both my kids are not anywhere close to using all the funds we set aside for their education, in fact I don't think they have touched any of it yet. We started saving for their education the day they were born. We will likely let them have the money for a down payment on a house if it doesn't get used. My son has about $28000.00 in the bank from the grants and loans he hasn't used. He doesn't need the money but gets the interest free government loans and invest it. He will pay it back when it is due a year after he graduates and keep the profits. He is renting a larger nicer house in Ottawa this year for school.

Kid is not doing much in the movie thing this year as he is taking three courses that will get him into law school sooner. He is still in contact with casting directors and considering working on "The Lord Of The Rings" TV series and will take a year off school if the pay is too good to turn down.

I agree with Kevin, knowledge is power, the power to make a good life for yourself.

My wifes best friend that beat colon cancer now has liver cancer. The Doctor told her that her liver was a ball of fat and being obese will kill her. The prognosis is good for her, but she eats crap and I am sure it will catch up to her again. Another friend of mine is a guy that keeps his cars and house in pristine condition. However he did not look after himself and they took out half of one of his lungs. He is skinny now and in good shape and feels really good.

BroadwayLion
Here in the US that operation would have been done the day they diagnosed it.

I think in most cases the patient needs to become stable and capable of surviving the surgery before it would happen. My friend dropped on the ice playing hockey at 34. He was on the table having long reconstructive heart surgery before we got to the hospital. It was a major birth defect that caused the issue. My wife is a Veterinary surgeon and I would go in with her often for her on-call emergencies. Getting the animal stable and well enough for reconstructive surgery could take days. Operating on unstable patients is not a surgeons first choice.

I love sushi, we go out about once a week for it. I was in Tahiti and the diet was raw fish and fruit. I felt incredible when I left and that is when I really started to pay attention to what I ate. I love prime rib and roast lamb but not very often solely for health reasons.

Ray, are you still adding a little running to your track time?

Ken, way to go on the quitting smoking front. How is the bike riding going? I was feeling sluggish last weekend and was down 8 pounds. I was not eating enough and was being really active. I tend to eat the same amount every day and if I put on some weight I ride the bike longer and if I lose too much I get to eat a bunch more, I don't do less. BP was 109/68HR56 this morning.Big Smile

My holier than thou sister was on about what an environmentalist she is, ha! She is always on a plane going somewhere and I reminded her about how many litres her share of the fuel was on a Boeing 777ER flying to Sydney from Vancouver was. Then I asked her why she put her toilet paper rolls in her bathroom waste basket instead of the recycling bin. That'll shut her up for, oh, about a week.Wink

Trying to sell our trailer, I found some water issues and rotting wood, won't be getting much for it, that's for sure. Even if we give it away we had good value and great memories from it. The wife and I will be empty nesters come Sept.1st. We plan to get on airplanes as we both traveled a lot before we got together and we both have places we want to return to. It is the South Pacific for me and she wants to go back to Turkey, Italy and France. We have some ground to cover. I mostly always traveled alone before I got together with her but it will be nice to be with her in all these places.

Trailer for sale, real cheap!

All the best to all.

Good to see the NBA cup come home to where Basketball was invented.

What you talkin about, Willis?  Is this revisionist history?

Naismith may have been Canadian born, but he "invented" basketball as part of a class assignment at the YMCA in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Did you think that us cheap New Englanders would pay to construct the basketball hall of fame in Springfield because we just had a few extra million laying around?

Laugh

The story I was brainwashed to believe was he first tried the game out in Montreal but it wasn't until he went to the U.S. that he cut holes in the bottom of the basket to allow the ball to pass through. Before then it was tedious climbing a ladder to get the ball out every time so he gave up on it.

You should see our hockey hall of fame and though nobody seems to know for sure. Most seem to think the Swedes invented the game.  Smile, Wink & Grin

Maybe, maybe not. It took my son 5 days to get to the OR for a broken arm that would have been done the same day back when I was in practice.

Helicopter rides to the heart hospital aren't covered by most insurance and will run you $8,000

Steak and tuna tartare are known to most Americans, I think.  Raw pork is a new one on me.  We have been taught to believe trichinosis comes from pork, but these days most cases are from undercooked bear meat.  I had bear meat once.  I will never have it a second time, it's awful.

Track fiddler

Good morning.  Just a black cup of coffee please.

I turned in early last night.  I enjoyed reading the 66 Mustang-cow in the backseat story this morning.  It's nice to wake up to a good laugh.  The things that made perfect sense to us when we were out on a bender When We Were YoungLaugh

Judy got the scoop on the train ride today.  We are going to depart from Osceola Wisconsin and ride the rails to Dresser Wisconsin at 1:30.

We will be given time to check out the old wooden Dresser Depot.  It is an old depot from the 18 hundreds that has been fully restored.  You get to watch the train turn around there too.  I will catch you guys up with pictures today.

Have a great day all.

TF

My brother lives just north of Dresser in St. Croix Falls; something we will definitely check out next time we are up there.  Thanks for the trip information.

Ken:  Hope you stay off the smoking wagon!

Even though this Bear is an omnivore, with carnivorous tendencies, I’m afraid all this raw red meat does nothing for me! I don’t like the idea of my meat slithering of the plate on its own! Pink in the middle, YUM! That said, during my brief foray in the butcher shop; when a new flavour of sausage was being tried, the raw sausage meat was tried for taste. I should add that while our sausages were GOOD, they were not on a par with German Wursts, more like English bangers.Dinner

I do like a good Fijian Kododa, cubed raw fish “cooked” in lime juice with chillies, tomatoes, onion, spring onions and coconut milk added. I would say that Batmans Tahitian dish is very similar.DinnerDinner

One dish I also like is “Zucchini Surprise”, the surprise being that it’s vegetarian, and I eat it! Basically, it’s onions, and zucchini sautéed in olive oil, with tomatoes added. I also like to add capsicum, mushrooms, garlic, chilli, oregano, thyme, and salt and pepper to taste. It makes a Great pasta sauce.DinnerDinnerChef

Just a last-minute thought, Ulrich, and probably the wrong size, but would a Railway themed jig saw puzzle be worth considering to keep you occupied? That said most of the ones on Google are British!

Good to see the Raptors have a turn at the top.

Bear,

I have used capsicum on occcasion, mostly on upright bipeds. (liquid stream, aerosol spray) did try it once on scrambled eggs, (spray version)---not bad, but not an everyday thing.  My wife will make the above with all of the veggies, less the pepper---this happens when the squash ripen, along with baked/stuffed, broiled, boiled, steamed. and horror of horrors--dehydrated.

Ulrich,

I vaguely remember a German dish, grackles mit ei, (not sure of the spelling-it has been over 50 years) raw hamburger and raw egg, and I seem to remember some type of seasoning--sauce? that came with it.

Good Morning!

I woke up at this last day in freedom at a rather unholy time, due a thunderstorm passing over us. It´s puring down like mad. I have never seen such a wet drought before. According to our climate gurus, we are in the midst of a drought.

Bear - it´s quite difficult to build a large-ish puzzle in a hospital without having to start all over again each day, and finally losing a few part in the process. Whatever I do, it will have to fit on those infamous bedside tables you see in a hospital.

I haven´t yet made up my mind what to get to "sweeten" my stay in the butcher shop. Maybe a Lego model of a U-Boat?

herrinchoker

Jan, that could have been "Gehacktes mit Ei", which is similar to the French Steak Tartar.

Pepper spray is a restricted weapon here; besides I much prefer cooking with freshly picked capsicums.Chef (I take it that they are known as bell peppers in the US,)

Hmmm, I guess they’re similar in any Western Hospital.
Yes, I thought afterwards that a jig saw puzzle was not one of my cleverest ideas. Bang Head

That Polish company, which I wasn’t aware of, certainly has some interesting offerings, though that U boat isn’t that small either!  Perhaps their VW Kubelwagen is a more reasonable size, though I suspect that it wouldn’t occupy you for long.Smile, Wink & Grin
Anyhow as I hope your operation, and recovery will be successful, then you won’t have to put up with boredom and hospital food for too long.

Bear,

Bell pepper is mild, no bite. Capiscums, as I have been led to believe come from the cayanne family, (ghost, etc.) and will really take your breath away. Law enforcement in this country must be certified to carry and use OC. It requires taking a (hit) in a out door setting, full face. to be able to know what it feels like, and to learn what to do for treatment when deployed.

One of my fellow officers acquired DM spray, and used it in a situation that the two of us found ourselves in. DM, used by the military at that time, will cause loss of bowel control, as well as projectile vommiting. After we spent a considerable amount of time removing and cleaning the back seat of the cruser, the decision was made, while very effective, the aftermath just wasn't worth it. The booking crew at the county jail wasn't too pleased either.

That Polish company, which I wasn’t aware of, certainly has some interesting offerings, though that U boat isn’t that small either!

The best about Cobi is that their products are legal - most of the Chinese stuff isn´t. The quality level is on par with Lego. Cobi has a nice range of "war birds" from WW I and WW II, which, considering they are "brick-builds" look very convincing.

I made up my mind and ordred this "bird":

The canopy and the turbines need a little tweaking to be more in line with the prototype. The box with the parts should arrive just in time - Tuesday next week!

Happy times!

An ME-262, really? That is a poor decision when there is something good like an IL-2 Sturmovik available.

At least they edited the tail fin and flash markings. I did the same thing on my wargame ME-262.
