Really, the DELAWARE AND HUDSON never ran in Delaware? Did it make it to the Hudson? I had no idea.

According to a map in my Historical Guide book D&H seems to be centered at Binghamton, NY with branches going North through Albany to Montreal, West to Niagara Falls, South through Scranton, PA to Washington, DC with side branches to Newark and Philadelphia

Pretty sure D&H referred to the Delaware and Hudson rivers both of which it crossed.

According to a map in my Historical Guide book D&H seems to be centered at Binghamton, NY with branches going North through Albany to Montreal, West to Niagara Falls, South through Scranton, PA to Washington, DC with side branches to Newark and Philadelphia

They started as just another PA coal hauler, their name came from their origanal plan to expand south and east to Delaware and the Hudson river. They did get to the Hudson River, but they realized they could be a bigger presense in upstate NY, because at the time we just had some little, unconnected railroads. They soon became "our" railroad. Later, they aquired track to other places like DC and trackage rights during the creation of Conrail.  Vendors at train shows try to sell me NYC locomotives, they either need to do their history, or are just trying to rip me off. Just because I am not an adult doesn't mean I am dumb about railroad history. And don't get me started about Guilford...

Sorry, i've been ranting.Zip it! Back to SMS.

Here's an oldie, formerly a CPR unit, and before that, in Santa Fe Warbonnet paint, and originally an undecorated unit from Globe, part of an A-B-B-A set....

Three of the units were dummies, while the one shown had a single Lindsey truck-mounted motor - not great pullers, but pretty fast.  Stick out tongue

New York Central ALCOs, PA #4210 and PB #4301, lead a short passenger consist west bound. The A-unit has a TCS T1 decoder while the dummy B-unit is equipped with a Soundtraxx DSX decoder and two 1-inch speakers.

Another non-EMD cab-unit, please.

While most of my small towns use the Atlas station, Dunnville's station (and its elevated right-of-way) came courtesy of the New York Central's deep pockets when they owned controlling interest in the Grand Valley Railway (known, at least by the Central, in those days as the Grand Valley Central).  They dropped out pre-1929, leaving the largest station, by far, on the road...

The station, as shown, is one storey above street-level, with the centre block the actual station, with railroad offices above.
The far wing is for the express department, and the near wing is occupied mostly by Canada Post.

Show me another large station, please.

New York Central Niagara #6008 rounds the General Industries Curve at the head of a 12-car heavyweight passenger train.

Lets keep the passenger train topic going, please.
