I don't see any Lion.
Anyway, is that the train that goes to/past Jerome Avenue in the Bronx? Used to ride that train with my Mom when we visited my aunt. She used to live on Shakespeare Avenue. I don't think I'd care to visit that area now.
Funny that I can remember riding that line into the city, but I can't remember where we were going.
Last weekend was Maple Weekend in upstate NY, where folks drive into the middle of nowhere to see how maple syrup is made, sample all the maple products, and take sleigh rides.

Let's jog down the river a bit from Troy to Rensslear, NY, where the Albany Amtrak station is and where Amtrak services there 18 P32AC-DMs, the only locomotives used by Amtrak below Albany, as seen below:

But the landscape is intended to be the Franklin Shuttle.

Nice scene, Lion. I have been watching subway train sets, and it is unbelievable how much they cost.
There are a pair just plain shells, on Ebay, nothing to go with them, plain bare shells, for $60. ?

Nice above-ground Subway scenes Lion I had to do a double-take zoom. At first I thought they were prototypical pictures.

One of my favorite history podcasts introduced me to the concept of the Fermi Paradox.
Fermi was a nuclear scientist and part of the Manhattan project. The universe is 13 billion years old, countless gallaxies, suns up the wazoo. Statistically, there ought to be lots of inhabitable planets, some with older and more advanced cvilizations than us. There ought to be other life forms, more advanced and mobile.
IF that presumption is correct, UFO's and aliens ought to be as common as the telephone calls you get everyday for free back braces, and zero interest rate credit cards. Yes, there is Roswell and various videos, but there ought to be an alien living next door. They are not. That is the paradox.

Good afternoon (for another 17 minutes) it was another warm sunny day on the coast.
Garry my condolences to you and your wife for your loss. Will you be going to Texas?
Big Daddy here is something for your listening pleasure.
I went to replace a couple of rotten boards on the playhouse today and upon further inspection, the house was past its "best before" date and would need a complete rebuild, so I have started to dismantle it and will haul it off to the transfer station. We will not be here if we are still alive to see grandchildren and the Playhouse has served its purpose. The dogs use to all go up and sun themselves on the deck. Seems like just 25 years ago I built the thing.
Got sent an estate sale listing that was local for a large collection of trains, the people are asking close to retail for everything, good luck. I was in home depot and the clerk said he had a lot of old MRR stuff, all DC and nothing worth mentioning, I suggested he donate it to a club I know of and they can sell it at a train show to raise funds for the club, he thought that was a good idea and took the name of the club off me.
Dropped the kids' hockey bag off with the coach and gave him $50.00 to buy a round for the boys. BUT ONLY IF THEY WIN! I said. I did that last year and they appreciated it. Most of them are in school in one form or another and probably don't have the money to spend on beer. They are a really good group of kids that I have always been happy to be associated with when we would go to the U.S. or other parts of Canada to tournaments. I remember it would be Tim Hortons after the games on Saturday and now they have grown up it's beer. Most of the kids are the same today as they were back then. For this tournament, they take the best players from many different teams around the greater Vancouver area and generally clean up most years.
I also built something for the wife today for her dog puppy pen. We are expecting a litter of puppies tomorrow so soon there will be the pitter patter of little feet around the house again.
All the best to all.
Brent

Are you certain? Did they tell you they came from France?
Garry, condolences your way.
The oral surgeon told me day three would be worse and he was right. The day of the surgery I was thinking, "Well, that wasn't so bad. I am not feeling much discomfort at all." Today, "Dang, that hurts a bit." Hopefully, tomorrow will be a little better.

If I was an Alien and saw this on my approach to Earth, I think I would just keep going.
Last year when the kid was taking global affairs, on an exam, he had to name every country on earth and the leaders of those countries.
I sure hope your dental experience goes better than mine Richard. Four and a half months ago I had two impacted molars extracted. I signed the paper before hand for the release of liability of the possible complications.
I had them. It got complicated. Four and a half months later I have just finished another series of antibiotics from the infection that moved into my jaw. It has not been fun.
I even had my blood tested to make sure it wasn't something else as I was getting a little worried that this thing had been going on way too long. The blood tests came back OK.
I feel like it has started on its way out now.... I hope. I don't like dentists but when you need them, you need them.
Garry,
Please accept my condolences.

I have read on the internet (so it must be true) that many people have encountered aliens and lived to tell about it. But based on their reports, I would not credit aliens with much intelligence.
If they were so smart, why is it that after traveling a million light years they have to resort to that colonoscopy thing to get whatever information they're looking for? Do they think we are all politicians?

Good afternoon —
from a cool and cloudy, slightly damp, at times, N.E. Ohio.
Yesterday I had a chance to prune the fruit trees and put up this Barred Owl nest box —

I hope we are not too late in the season. My nephew gave it to me as he is moving from a rented house in a wooded area to an apartment.

The same day I put the nest box up a swarm of honey bees moved into a vacant hive we had on a nearby hillside! That was great news. This has happened to us three times recently.
Then, if all that wasn't enough, our stray cat, Spike, who has ALWAYS visited in the cover of darkness over the last eight years or so, came out for a visit in broad daylight.
We offered him some canned Friskies instead of the usual tuna. This was his reaction —

The blue birds have been visiting our feeders every day, too. I see a few moths and bugs out but not too many since it is still below freezing here in the nights. We feed them meal worms.
I hope everyone has an agreeable weekend...
Cheers, Ed
Good morning from the sunny West Coast. We have had a small fraction of precipitation of what we usually get in the last two months. You can see the difference in the vegetation already, nothing is doing as well as normal. Very foreboding.
The kid just landed in Calgary for his connecting flight to Edmonton for his hockey tournament and he feels like crap. I looked up to see where there were showers at the airport and sent the link. I have racked up more brownie points as he has a two-hour layover and a shower made him feel way better. Beautiful showers in a Spa he said for only $10.00. I hope he feels better by game time.

I hope they are gonna renovate the dump, or is it a rental?
My wife has been taking a what seems to be a rather long intense beekeeper course. With the worlds Bees dying off at alarming rates we won't be far behind. She is going to do her part to help.

It's a honey of a fixer-upper! A real sweet deal. The folks are all abuzz about it
