Living the dream.
Good early evening Railfans!
It's 45 degrees up here in Minnesota today. I have all the windows open, walking around in a sweatshirt. Tropical Heatwave, I'm liking it
It's good to let out some of this stale winter air..... NICE TF
Good Evening!
One of those days I should have stayed in bed. My pair of galsses is driving me nuts! There seems to be no way around buying a new set of spectacles!
Jimmy - I am sorry to hear about you losing your job! However, as awkward as the situation is at the moment, I am quite confident that you will find a good job in no time. You are a good man!
Are you anywhere near Pittsburgh? Check with the Port Authority of Allegheny County - they operate bus lines as well as light rail in the Pittsburgh area. Maybe a job driving a trolley would be thrilling ...
Good luck!
Happy times!

Bear, Thanks. I vote for this one as best caption ever. This really put a smile on my face today.
I don't have a class A. Just a class C license. I usually drive under the speed limit to.

These are the opinions of an under 35 , from the east end of, and modeling, the same section of the Wheeling and Lake Erie railway. As well as a freelanced road (Austinville and Dynamite City railroad).
Jimmy .... Can you drive okay ?... I'm asking because years ago, I was a city transit bus driver, and I really liked that job. Also, there is a shortage of truck drivers currently.

SWP I had the most seniority there. Im 27 and had the most seniority there. Everyone else had a spot there, but apparently I didn't fit.
Ive thought about the railroad, but I'm not Healthy enough for it. Asthma, and a very bad back, plus my one knee is screaming st me if I stand on it too long. I need to find something st least 10 an hour, preferably more.... I've got house bills to pay. I'm looking for classes in drafting, but I need a spjrce of income Job to pay for it an thr House bills. I'm going one of those temp agencies on Monday to take a career aptitude test, to see what I'm actually suited for.
Good morning everybody .... Coffee and a donut, please.
Jimmy ..... I'm sorry to hear about the layoff. You are a top notch guy, and there should be something out there for you...... One thought: Apply for work at a railroad. If you are healthy, apply for a conductor job. Prepare for the interview. Learn what you can about railcar brakes, etc. In the interview, let them know you what you learned on your own, and tell them you are eager to learn more in their training classes for new hires. ... NS and other railroads have links in the website home pages to find out about current job openings. .... If you prefer work elsewhere, go for it. Have faith in yourself. You are a high quality person. Employers want people like you. .... Meanwhile, the national economy added over 300,000 jobs in December, and the overall economy is doing well. Companies are hiring. ....
Bear ..... LOL at your humor .....
Morning folks,
Jimmy, firstly take a moment and breathe, things will work out, you were laid off because you're a new hire, happens all the time, the newest employees are the first to get laid off. There are jobs out there, and there is one for you, don't get all flustered you are a valuable asset and there will be a company that realizes that.
Steve
If everything seems under control, you're not going fast enough!
Hey all. I'm not doing well at all. I got laid off and feel like a failure.
I mean not to harp but, I wish life would give me a break at least once. I get a good job out of school, the Economy crashes and I get laid off. I work at ups and get abused there. Then I work in a grocery store making part time wages and it's the only thing i could do. Then I get the most recent job, and the day after I start...dad dies and now I get laid off from there. Not to gripe but.... can I ever have anything work out ever?
... The Bear is who wot dunnit!!

I couldn't figure out why some of my replies were all wonky. Then I returned to the computer I use at the layout and found my answer!

I wonder if this is why I'm getting daily deliveries of Kitty Treats from Amazon? Well, at least if any train stuff shows up "unexpectedly" I can point my finger at Wilson. He's got that "cat ate the canary*" look.
*my apologies to the ASPCA
Cheers, Ed
By the time you divide your weight by 87.1 Ed, I think you will be ready to be placed on a Z scale layout
I did understand the analogy though
cudakenKevin Is that your bench work on the main page? If so looks good! Could you post your track plan in the diner?
Ken, there is not much to the track plan. Just two tracks and one turnout. The tracks are on two different levels.
The lower control panel in this picture shows the whole track plan. The upper track is white and the lower is yellow.
Thank you for the compliment.
Track fiddler Good one Ed. You may want to consult with Ray! I'm sure he could give you some helpful advise PS..... That was all in fun. I did congratulate Ray on all his success

I did congratulate Ray on all his success
But when I divide my weight by 87.1 all is good
Evening folks,
Yeah and the funny thing is my dad heard about them and now he wants to go see them! He's not into railroad stuff but he likes history.
Hey Kevin I almost forgot!
Steven NWP SWP ..... Now you are making the rest of the Diners envious ! LOL ... Seriously, congratulations on seeing the famous lcomotives in person.
Bear.... That cracked me up. I like the wilderbeasts. Makes me wonder what the wilderbeast enchiladas would taste like. Maybe I should consult with the Lion, He may know
Kevin.... Happy late Birthday to you as well. Although I haven't had much involvement, I have been following your thread. Looks like some good craftsmanship examples to me
Ulrich.... Wow! glasses are expensive over there. My farsightedness is way above average but my nearsightedness has been diminishing over the years.
I was getting headaches from my OTC cheaters and had to be fitted with a prescription pair. It was found my right eye was two lenses weaker than the left, the obvious reason for the headaches.
The only difference is we have this nationwide eyeglasses chain. Two pairs of prescription eyeglasses and the eye exam for $69.95 and they actually do a good job. At that point I don't think the anti-glare would be too much more. I sincerely wish I could hook you up with these guys. I never like to hear about a big dent in the getaway fund
SWP.... You sure looked like you were having a fun day standing in front of those two big Loco's. Glad to hear your stomach problem is getting under control.

Flo, give the gang and I a please and a belated to Kevin or what ever he likes.
Not much to talk about again. Did some running and paid a few bills. I am down to oweing $745.00 on a high intrest personal loan. With some luck (no idea what getting Social Securty will cause) I hope to pay that off with my tax returns. I am having $13.00 State and $10.00 extra for my Feds taken out. With me making only $320.00 a week normaly there would be no state or fedural taken out.

Here is is Saturday Eve,
I am off work today and Monday so we drove down to our House in Mississippi for the long weekend. Luckily no one has broken in. The POPO keep checking on the property weekly. We had some tree limbs block driveway that I had to clear so we must have had some winds recently. It rained the whole way from KY . Tommorrow sunny and 60's.
Happy belated Kevin.
SeeYou190My birthday was yesterday, but I had to work. I am 51 now!
A belated , Kevin!
51? That´s still young! Lucky you!
I am getting ready to head for the hay - CU tomorrow!
Heartland Division CB&QKevin ..... Ed has diclosed it is your birthday. .... So: ..... I hope you have a great day !
Thank you Garry. My birthday was yesterday, but I had to work. I am 51 now!
Steven Otte Love is love. You make it true by believing in it.
I am going to quote this a lot.
I now officially live in Delaware. The GF bought a condo and we moved in last Monday. Way too small for a layout, so that will have to wait.
We drove back to Northern Virginia on Wednesday for a heart appointment for me, and then to Washington, D.C., to get her a new passport. The amazing thing was how easy it was to drive in and out, and even to park. The government shutdown makes that city much less crowded and more livable.
