Good morning, everybody .....

Ed ... You are doing a great job posting interesting stuff. ... I'm wondering if the Flying Yankee was scrapped or is it preserved somewhere ?  .... (Glad I checked for typos. I left the "s" off of "scrapped" when I first typed. LOL )

I just added more comments in my thread in Prototype Information about auto racks.

Captain Parker's Clam Chowder is the best I've found in a store.  I had some last year and it was only available at Star Market.  Delicious but hard to get outside of Massachusetts.

Ken, I had a gear problem with my BLI Hudson.  A touch if CA was all it took.

Get your wife to physical therapy.  It will help and the long-term result will be less pain, not more.

Hi Everyone!

Just dropping by for a quick nightcap before heading for the hay!

It´s been a quiet day here with very little activity, as I am not feeling too good right now. Listened to some good music from way back when life was still good!

Ed - thanks for the beautiful pictures!

Happy times!

Hello, everyone

Heartland Division CB&Q
I'm wondering if the Flying Yankee was scrapped or is it preserved somewhere ?

Thankfully, the Yankee is in good hands and is going through a restoration, Garry.

At least I hope they are successful in their efforts. These days seem to be very challenging for any organization to reach their goals when it comes to efforts such as this.

Here are some photos of the restoration work:

Good Afternoon,

Sunny here today which is a nice change from the white stuff we got yesterday. It is cool though at only about 35F. We sure are having a cool wet autumn.

Speaking of clam chowder there is a restaurant chain in western Canada called Earls that make really great clam chowder. It is made from scratch in every location. I had some last week when I had a visit from a high school friend that was passing through. Great to see Rick again even if only for an hour or so. He restores Corvettes as a hobby. He is re-doing a '65 Coupe that he has owned for many years and is doing it to be judged by the group that does that sort of thing.

I have been running trains a bit this week. I have reverted back to freight operations for a while.

Hope Johnboy is keeping warm.

Humid today and now starting to rain for tonight and tomorrow.  Nothing to do with our location, but you don't see this very often.  The restoration of a WM #1309

Afternoon all from the still sunny Pacific Rim, slightly above the 49th.

Had to turn the furnace on yesterday as the temps were heading down to 3c from a pleasant daytime 17c. Our heat and hot water run us about a $100.00 a month on the equal payment plan, our electricity bill is $98.00 a month on the equal payment plan.

The kid in Ottawa was shocked at what he will be paying to heat his castle this Winter. Before he rented the joint he asked what we paid for utilities and I warned him to check what is paid at the address as it will be a whole lot more in Ontario. His house is quite small compared to ours, but I bet the heating bill will be more.

The wife and I have been sprucing the place up now Winter is approaching and we tend to spend more time at home indoors so we like things to be in good shape. Plus we have told the agent next door that if he has an interested buyer to bring them by and we will work something out. We would like to sell and rent back so we can move next Summer on short notice if we see a great house. The agent next door is part of a group that brings in planeloads of investors from Asia and he says our house is in the price range they tend to look at.

Ken, I hope your wife works hard on her rehab, it will make a huge difference in her quality of life down the road.

I lead a pretty active life and I have had quite a few broken bones, torn thisis and thatses and injuries I forgot I ever had. They have taken their toll on me and have caught up to me in old age. The only reason I am still mobile is because I work hard to stay in shape. I am sure if I ever let myself go I will need a scooter to get around and become a couch sloth.

Well, time to get a glass of wine, grab a guitar and turn on a train to watch.

All the best to all.

 Eveing Diners

Flo, you know the drill and throw in a Beer for Mr B as well.

Beathing better, but still feel like ash pitt. Went and bought a Kazoo today at Swing City, first time I walked out of that store with out spending $500.00. I have been told by many of folks playing the Kazoo will help open up my air ways. Feel like a idiot, so I guess I am! Smile, Wink & Grin

M1a Front Looks like she is going to live. Big Smile Worm gear looks fine and as I looked at the engine taken apart I started to remember replacing a tower gear. While I had it box out I found some tower gears from the last repair. Need to call BLI back Friday and see how many gears should be in the bag.

Ed Thank you for the parts link, while I still have the orginal one it helps to be able to blow it up. I would love a PRR J1! Just don't think it will make my turns.

Mr B I am with you on the rehab thing. Sue did get a apointment but it is not till 10-15-2018. I think that is just way to far out. If I suggest she try something new, I am being a jerk and don't want to help her! Bang Head Kelly the last in house Theropist said that would happen. It has been 3 weeks and I have seen her walk with out her walker, well when Kelly was here. I suggested tonight she should start using her cane. Bang, Zoome To The Moon we went! Pepole under 50 will not know where that saying came from.

Ok, just spoke with her, she is driving me nuts!

 Later, Ken

You are probably right.

I am 55..... How does The Honeymooners sound? Jackie Gleason and Art Carney, right?

Although I did watch The Honeymooners when I was about 10- 12 years old (re-runs of course) I did enjoyed it as a youngster.... Still do todayYes

As a matter of fact the wife and I just finished watching a black and white Andy Griffith that we watch every night.... we call the re-runs re-runs if we saw the same episode a week or two agoIndifferent

Barney Fife always gets his man..... He really doesn't but Andy always makes him feel good about what he's doing.

Evening folks,

Anyone ever hear the Griffith bit "What it was, was football"?

I'm teetering on the verge of a cold, I think I'm beating it. I've tried something new, I'm taking 2 Airborne every 4 hours instead of cold meds which make me Dunce

I'm weighing whether to buy BN SDP45s or BN U28Cs I'm buying Loksound decoders for them. I might buy something different all together.

Track fiddler, I enjoy hanging with you guys, I'm a bit of an old soul, I like old music, old shows, old cars, I mean I've seen every Magnum PI, Hogans Heroes and MASH at least three times (I watch those the most).

I comb my hair like Cary Grant, mine has less wave though. I wear Crew socks with my shorts (I'm changing that finally) and sing music that is almost 3 times older than me!

I like new stuff like new Mustangs, some new music (although the stuff I listen doesn't even get in the top 100 and no one's ever heard of the bands.), and new shows.

Up till a year ago I didn't listen to any new music but I went to a Billy Joel concert and Andrew McMahon opened for him and I was introduced into newer music.

My favorite prototype Era is the transition period, although I'm modeling the 60s-80s for financial reasons.

Anyone know who said this on Andy Griffith? Suprise! Suprise! I can see it in your eyes! And How do you do Mrs Walley, no coffee, tea, or punch thank you!

I'm doing a duet with Annaliese (who's my age) singing Dream a Little Dream of Me, I was running through it today and I'm really looking forward to it!

So I don't mind rust and mold.

Hello, everyone

I have a few minutes before I retire to the layout for a night (morningWhistling) of fun and skullduggery.

New England is more than quaint towns and tall church steeples. Here's some main-line action with one of New Haven's EP-5 Jets:

Rapido will be offering these EP-5s some time next year Smile

Afternoon folks!

Been way to busy to post for the last few days.  But....  The house is now somewhat clean enough that am not terribly embarrased to have an old friend and his wife visit today.  They should be arriving in just a few minutes actually.

This is reunion weekend at the U of R and for me the Eastman School of Music is where I will be celebrating tomorrow.  Fifty years....  Wow!  I graduated from there 50 years ago.  The time has gone by way too fast.  I do hope that I will see and chat with several old friends tomorrow!

A cool and cloudy Friday afternoon has found its way to NE Ohio.

I hope everyone is doing well today. Tomorrow is one of the better train shows in the area at Berea, Ohio. I plan to attend. I usually have pretty good luck finding those "rare treasures" here.

Heartland Division CB&Q
Ed .... Thanks for all of the info about the Flying Yankee. .... All of that is exciting news to me.

I'm glad you folks are enjoying some of the New England scenery and railroading.

Here's a Flying Yankee menu I came across. The Armstrong Company operated newsstands and food service in some of the stations in the northeast, similar to Union News or Fred Harvey. They "catered" the meals on the F-Y.

I love that phrase — "We respectfully solicit your patronage". I sure wish advertisers would have the same principals today.

Later tonight it's off to Bean Town.

Cheers, Ed

Good afternoon from the always relaxed West Coast. It is 15c with a high OC.

Ed, you are going to be a hard act to follow as a tour guide. I enjoy learning about just about anything, anytime and you are certainly offering up a heapin helpin.

Ray, the duck pic is making the rounds and is putting smiles on peoples faces.

I had a lot planned to do today, but all of a sudden I have become agent, co-ordinator for the kid. He is really busy at school right now and received two requests for his services in the movie biz. One is a two-week Motion Capture gig that will pay $30,000.00. That is in a movie being filmed in South Africa. He fly's business class for that if he goes, can't imagine what that would cost the company.Indifferent

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6475714/

I have called a law firm as we will need contract help if he can work out the dates around school. He may drop his second semester if the money is good as it will pay for a whole lot of University if it all works out. The University has been very accommodating in exam schedules for him, so he can do work. A bit crazy around here to say the least.

Check out this Freemo in Germany. I think I would lose my train.Laugh

Train show in Lynden Washington tomorrow. If the border lineup is short I will be going abroad to attend as it is a pretty good show that tends to have higher quality junk to buy.

I have a video chat for the kids' movie stuff in a few minutes so better run.

All the best to all.

The duck only reminds me of one thing.  The days before the TSA.  Nothing Political Steve, it's just what Shattner does, is unlikely today.

Which reminds me of another Twilight Zone or Outer Limits show.  A 60's actor, I can't remember, but can see his face, is driving out west, in the middle of no where, and a tanker truck develops a serious case of road rage and tries to run over him.  Anyone remember that one?

 Eveing Diners

Flo, you know the drill, yep Beer please.

Tuff Night Last Night. Have no clue what time it was but my wife woke be up because Sparkie The Rocket Dog fell in the hallway and could not stand up again. Sigh By the time she got me awake she had got him back to bed. I started to spend the rest of the night in the master bedroom then I started trying to hack out my lungs. So back to my room.

Rest of the night sucked Rail Spikes. Had to sleep sitting up, and still was hacking for hours. Plus the dang Cpap mask would not seal? I was as tried when I got up as I was when I went to bed. Sigh

 Good News?

1 Sparkie seems to be walking fine today.

2 Got the wife to walk with just a cane tonight. Her fear is what is holding her back, not her new knee. She said "you don't worry about falling, so what do you know about it!" Hum, XVIII Airborn yea I know nothing about falling!  Smile, Wink & Grin

3 Got the BLI PRR M1a feild stripped. Looks like I may even have the extra tower gear that could be bad. Gear in question still looks OK. I was hoping it would look like a Blown Up Ford 9" rear end! Big Smile Sorry Track Fiddler and Steven. Whistling Devil Made Me Do It! Big Smile If I feel better and wife leaves me alone I may have the M1a back on the rails this weekend. Surprise

Brent, that's it!  I was thinking Ben Gazzara, not Dennis Weaver.  Also thought it was an older truck.  A Spielburg movie!

Ken if your wife doesn't use her knee, it will stiffen up and it won't bend.

Hope Sparkie stays well.  We almost put Toby to sleep last year after he hurt his back.  In fact I gave him his final meal, a pack of peanut butter crackers.  The vet said give him more time.

He cried for 2 days and hardly moved.  I slept downstairs on the floor with him. Don't tell anybody but we saved my mil's morphine and we gave him some.  Either it worked or he got better.

Sound's like Dennis Weaver. And the movie was " Duel "
