Video looks good, Oldschool—
but, I must ask. Are you sitting in the outhouse with the door open?
My computer screen is 19" wide and your video only uses three inches of the middle.
I guess this is the "new normal" ?
Sure isn't anything like the Cinerama production of "How The West Was Won"...
Happy Birthday, Brent! Welcome to 61... the new 20.333!
Cheers, Ed
The second video of the same train in Elmsdale was taken from my ground-mounted Sony on the other side of the level crossing pointing my way. Forgot to crop the end of the video. Just stop after the rolling stock goes by.
We have many long trains coming and going from Halifax. Again in April 2017 I videotaped a Halifax-bound CN train in Elmsdale, about 30 minutes from the city. On this occasion I had two cameras running, one was my iPhone as the train approached and the second was my Sony mounted on the ground pointing in the direction that the train was moving. here is the first video.
Last April I videotaped CN at Windsor Junction as it approached Halifax. Let's see if the video thumb shows up here.
Happy Birthday Batman. Thanks for the video advice. I'll try again.
BATMANIt is my 61st. Birthday today
Happy Birthday Brent!!
I like the removable roundhouse/turntable scene. I'm going to suggest it to the Club.

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
Good morning from the home of the land of the Winter Monsoon. It is 12c with heavy rain and wind. It is my 61st. Birthday today and so far my account at PWRS has had $250.00 added to it.
I have been gluing the walls on to the roundhouse today in between all the well wishes on the phone. The house is full of Veterinarians in to see the pups this morning. The wife knows a tremendous amount about genetics and reproductive techniques etc. Even though she retired long ago the phone never stops ringing with people wanting advice. There is major shop talk going on, so I will be retreating back to the train room.
The pups have their own Facebook page with hundreds of followers.
Oldschool, to get a video inserted, use the insert video button at the top of the reply screen, just paste the address into it.
Putting my RH and TT into a piece of foam that lifts on and off the layout was the best thing I ever did. I just lift it out and take it to my desk to work on it and put it back when I am done.
You can see it here.
I think we will go for a big Birthday pig out at my favourite Sushi joint tonight. My Sister is taking us out to celebrate on Sunday to this incredible buffet at a hoity toity golf course. I see a whole lot of extra exercise this week and next.
Well, I need to make myself scarce.
All the best to all.
Brent

Nice! Thanks.
OldSchoolScratchbuilder Woah! Did I see NS and CN together? Where?
Woah! Did I see NS and CN together? Where?
That would be Hershey, Pa. Which means we're looking at NS track. The CN unit was probably leased power.

Woah! Did I see NS and CN together? Where? Looking to add non-CN locomotives that I've seen with CN to my roster! Thanks for posting Steve.
So the end of the month is coming up. Where's the Diner moving next? Next month is Valentine's Day... how about Hershey, Pa.?
Gypsum wall is coming along. Also carving a gypsum horse for my wife's upcoming birthday.
I got a note from Ulrich. Things are fairly quiet, although Petra was harrassed pretty badly on a recent grocery trip. She will no longer go alone.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
My North Mountain textile factory for my Lego train layout will be duplicated in stone for my HO scale trains. Each piece of orange gypsum is sanded into blocks and later, the scaled brickwork will be scratched into the gypsum blocks.
Try this video. It's my Lego textile factory motor in action. Thirty+ year old motor is working hard.

BATMAN Always like to play Gordon Lightfoot's "song for a winters night" when it is snowing out. Found this version from 1967. Gords lyrics always put you there even 51 years later.

Batman, how did you get this video to show up in the thread like this (rather than a simple blue link)? Love this song on our winter nights here in Nova Scotia. Thanks. OSS

Steven: Happy Birthday man!
The Accurail kits are nicely done. Take your time.
One tool that I left off my list was a sprue nipper. It makes separating the brake lines and such from the sprues a breeze.
https://www.walthers.com/premium-sprue-nipper-cutter?ref=1
Here is another style:
https://www.micromark.com/search?keywords=Sprue%20cutter
There is another method if you (and your parents) are comfortable with it. That is to use a heated #11 X-acto blade. Instead of cutting the sprue joints, you are melting them. It requires you to have an open flame to heat the tip of the blade, and you have to work fairly quickly or the blade will cool off. You will also get some fumes which aren't really good for you.
Accurail's casting techniques are just about as good as anybody's, but you can get situations where the mounting pin is bigger than the hole it is supposed to go in. Trying to force the mounting pins into the holes will only result in broken parts and fowl language. If the pins won't fit in nicely then use a pin vice to drill the holes a little larger.
Also, if your kit is a bit older it may come with mounting pins for the trucks instead of screws. If it does have pins my suggestion is to get yourself some 2-56 x 5/16" screws and toss the pins. The screws will tap themslves into the plastic frame so you don't have to worry about having a thread cutting tap, although if you do have a tap it will do a very clean job of cutting the threads.
Good luck!
Top of the page, mug up for them whats' old enough, Steinhager for Ulrich, Shirley Temples tor the young'uns, on my tab.

Ken,
Have sent you a PM, to answer part of your question in the clear, I recommend a base ball bat.

Thank you all for the happy birthday wishes...
I got two train related gifts today! Pentrex Great Northern DVD and Accurail 36ft D&RGW Double Sheath Boxcar which looks like it will be a challenge with its intricate underframe...

If everything seems under control, you're not going fast enough!
Evening Diners,
Happy birthday Steven.
I have thoughts of planning to rebuild my broken Life Like 0-6-0T locomotive. I might use a Z Scale motor. She needs more work to run, and somewhat add a functional working headlights. If I'm going to fix her up for a small '40s industrial scene.
I know this little switcher is a piece of junk that ran two weeks, but nobody else makes it. For a better looking replacement.
Amtrak America, 1971-Present.
Evening diners, I had a pretty good day, went railfanning at the KCS, CN/IC, and UP yards around Baton Rouge not too much action but a few trains... Ken sounds like you need a bit of "preemptive action" perhaps in the form of traps???
Evening Diners
Flo, give the gang a Steven and Rick a Coke and leave a Stein outside for Ulrich.
I have worst days! At lease I am not sitting in a fox hole with a leaking poncho while it is raining. Been there done that! It sucked rail spikes!
UP 831 I all so have a lazy Susan, but she is in the bedroom!
Newest Problem? Are area of Ill is infested with Coyote's! It is so bad we can kill coyotes with no repercussions from the state. We have had them for the 25 years we have lived here but not this bad. When I had Irish Wolfhound's I was not that worried! Last night while I was doing a BBQ I heard them in the backyard in the storage shed rasing heck.
Main worry is when we walk Sparkie the blind American Eskimo. At 18 pounds he be there dinner.
Any tips on repailing Coyotes? Thinking Bob Cat Pee, or Bear Pee. For right now I am carrying my old Spanish Soward, it is 3 foot long and is very sharp. I look like a fat Johnny Depp!
Jan PM me the answer and let me know here in the dinner I was PM'ed please.
I know I am shating on thin ice with that question SteveO. But if anyone would know it is Jan.
Later, Ken

Hey everybody ...... It is Steven's (NWP SWP) birthday !....
Steven NWP SWP ... I hope it is a great day ! .... You did a nice job assembling the building kit.
Old School ... Looks like your are having a lot of fun... Great to see it !
Ken ... You mught not be planning on suing, but those people don't seem trustworthy based on what you say. Some day, you might have to file a claim if they take action against you. ... I suppose however, you could dig up your history of posting in the Diner for reference. LOL
Kevin ... Looks like plans for a first class kitchen.
Ray ... That is some bridge project.

Wonderful day and the best part is relaxing by working on my operational Lego textile factory with a hot chocolate and slice of my wife's homemade banana bread. Greased all the gears in this 1985 Lego motor, made a few adjustments to the same vintage 3-C-cell battery pack. Universal joints and worm gears installed and so far all is working like a charm.
up831It looks like there's a lazy Susan cabinet in the refrigerator wall corner. Ok, so one lazy Susan and one blind corner.
.
Yes, that is correct. I did the "design" myself with blue tape on the walls, then had to convince the guy at Home Depot that I knew what I wanted. Finally he made the plan match my plan, and everything is ordered.

Living the dream.
At Cheverie I was after the gorgeous orange gypsum that I like to think of as salmon.
Second hike at Cheverie at an outcrop of gypsum, anhydrite and limestone.
