It is just one of those things that reminds me of a new job scenerio. Say you start a job as fire fighter and it is your first few months. When you have a question you most likely direct it to the person with more seniority or who has been there the longest simply because you feel they have been around longer to know any answer you may have. It is a natural thing to trust the word of a long time member as opposed to a 30 post responder. Crazy but alot of guys must feel that way about that. I am sure it is vise versa for the big posters too. Some one may feel inside that they are more knowledgable or experienced because they have 3 stars or 300+ post. that person may think that they have "Put in their time" as a listener/student and now have become teachers/mentors. I do not care because even though I am new to this forum I know one thing, I can model my [censored] off! I love to work on my layout and it is mine. I know my layout more than anyone with 2,3, or 5 stars because I built it. Plus I may know more about a subject than a dude with 325 post ya know. The guy with the most post may be the most idiotic person too. (no offense to that #1 poster) Well I do not even have one star, UH OH. What I am saying may not mean jack. [;)]

Notwithstanding the stated purpose of the forum - "Advice, tips, questions and general information on the hobby" (italics added) - found on the forum selection page. But I was told by a moderator that non-model RR topics are okay anyway.

QUOTE: Originally posted by emeraldisle QUOTE: Originally posted by TA462 It should be about the QUALITY of the post you make and not the number of posts you make. No way to measure the quality, but I would say this, no matter how many stars you have, or anyone else has, this is a HOBBY, nothing more, nothing less. The fact that some responses are of higher quality than others, is strictly in the eyes of the be-holder. This means simply this, some responses will answer a question directly and some won't, but all will have one thing in mind, and that is to make this as FUN a hobby as possible. Don't be so ready to discount someones responses just because they don't seem of high quality, by your definition, or aren't relevant to your question. Many times these guys just want to have a little fun first, then get down to facts afterwards. As I've said many times before, if you're a member of a Club where you live, you don't always talk MRR'ing when you go do you...Just pitch in and have fun, all your questions will be answered at the liesure of the other folks that post here, weather they have 1 star or 5 stars, just be patient and enjoy the humor along with the facts.

QUOTE: Originally posted by Brunton QUOTE: Originally posted by PennsyHoosier There are no "ranks," per se. Try posting an opinion that might not be shared by a lot of folks, and see what happens. I've done that, and had some of the gasbags tell me I have no right to post my opinion because I don't post often enough. I prefer to post only when I have something to say, rather than just to flap my keyboard at everyone.

QUOTE: Originally posted by IRONROOSTER It's a fun way to highlight how many posts someone has made. They have no meaning beyond that. Personally, I like them.
