galaxyUlrich: did I miss something last month? Did you wreck your little Volkswagen? Why are you looking to replace It? I'm driving a 2006 Kia Sedona minivan. I don't plan to replace for 5 years. You Just got that golf not to long ago....
No, the car is in perfect shape and condition, but I am not. When lifting the washing machine on top of the dryer, I did quite some damage to my back, which now makes it a painful experience getting into the rather low riding VW up! I am looking into tradsing it for some vehicle, in which I can climb into without getting on my hands and knees.
The car is just like new, well kept, with less than 8,000 miles on the clock in 4 years! I change the oil every year and see to it, that the engine gets a good warm-up minimum every fortnight. If it weren´t for the regular grocery runs and doctor´s appointments, we could do without a car. If we had better weather, I´d trade it in for a Vespa scooter ....
Morning all..
presently fighting wit Comcast again....they changed the account name for my services BACK to my deceased grandfather(20 years deceased mind you) and are now refusing to send any kind of tech support to my place, even though my box keeps rebooting every ten minutes. Not normal. The only option is to go to a Comcast store and prove he's dead so they can switch the account name back to either mine or my mothers.
Workfront: i need a vacation. That all that needs said.
Trainfront: picked up a decoder for one of my high hoods. So thankfully ou of my 14 unit Wheeling roster, only two or three need decoders now.

Oh, I see. With your heart issues you should NOT have been lifting the washer over the dryer anyway!
Heck, I don't even carry the laundry up or down stairs to the basement. My OH does that. I wash the laundry, but have fallen twice down the stairs carrying small items. Do now my OH has to do that.
I also drive the minivan as I can get in and out of it easily. When there have been accidents I've insisted I get a rental I can get in and out of easily. Technically I'm only entitled to a compact car but I insist. I point out I drive and insure a minivan for a reason.
Remember I get around with a cane.
Oddly enough, my OH has a Hyundai elantra, I have much trouble getting in and out of the passenger side, but only a little getting in and out of drivers side!
Best of luck.

FRRY .... Sounds like your model railroad projects will keep you busy. ... Good .
Jimmy ... 14 W&LE units is impressive. I saw the D&RGW facebook page call the W&LE "Denver & Rio Grande Eastern" based on the paint sceme currently used by W&LE.
Galaxy ... My wife and I have had some a strange stuff from auto correct. Something to laugh at.
Ulrich ... Good luck with your car shopping.

Welcome back, Galaxy! It's been a while. To make you feel more welcome, here's today's Diner special, liver with bacon and onions, just like you ordered.
Um... yum? You dig right in... I'll be over here.

Steven,
mind if I let that one pass by me? My mom used to make it quite often, as it was cheap, but she had to force-feed me with it.
I have been told that liver in a burgundy sauce is supposedly quite tasty, but thanks - no, I won´t touch it.
I am wasting my afternoon by watching this.
galaxyI saw nakedness and beefcake??? ( no beard and ....again, Mr B...beefcake??)
Kind of like the food here at the diner - virtual, no beef required. It just turned out to be one of this photos that comes out way better looking than the subject.
galaxyMr. B. I MAY HAVE Missed it, but where are you going to go? Do youbknow ?
The house goes on the market in one week. It will probably sell quickly. Our real estate market is very hot here, and we followed all the real estate people's recommendations on painting, changing out "dated" light fixtures, and so on. The garage is packed with our stuff so that they could "stage" the house to make it more saleable.
I expect that closing will be a couple of months away, so I'll have time to look for someplace to go. My plan is to rent an apartment for a year. The GF and I plan to move in together, somewhere, but I'm ahead of her on "divorce process" so it will be a while before she's officially single again. She is still working (yes, a "younger woman") so we need to figure out where we will live, initially for now and then later in retirement.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
Morning diners,
Jimmy- That's probably going to happen to us when our dad dies. The dish bill and account is under his name. The company can't change it unless he said so.
Galaxy- Nice to see you back.
Ulrich- You were right about the word messy, I shaved and cut. I got the perimeter of the backyard covered in pink stuff. It's started to becoming a hassle when Charles is chewing on it. A dog that's turning 2 isn't getting any smarter.
Day 2 of Layout Construction week 2 since I started early yesterday. Because my brother left for his girlfriend place and dentist today.

Afternoon folks!
Chloe I'll just have a bottle of Cherribundy Light and a bagel with cream cheese for lunch...
Galaxy, watch your mailbox early next week. Something should be arriving for you. Enjoy!
I'll be back in later this evening hopefully. Have a great day out there.

Thanks Ray! I'm only interested because it's YOUR work. As others have said I have watched you build it, and wanna see if you did MR proud and if MR did YOU proud! I'm sure on both fronts.
Well I paid some bills and went to extract money from the credit union. Stopped at subway for my once every two month guilty pleasure...a 6" meatball sub. Got a free cookie to
..thats about the only time I get one of those too.
Well it is nap time.
I don't know if I'll be hanging around the diner much. With work, though I only pull 3 days of 8 hour shift, it's wearing on me, and it's like I work 6 days as it takes me a day to recover for each day I work, two if I work two days in a row. Some nights lije Wednesday night i ended up running all over the hotel. That wear a me out even more. Plus working 8-4 day shift is not too bad but the two nights of 4- mudnuhht are really wearing as im not a night persin, haven't been in many many years.
I get my Radio Frequency Ablation for my back next week. It's badly needed. I can't wait.
Monday, my birthday, well go out to eat. Don't know yet where. It's been a been 3 months since we ate out last. It'll be a real treat for me not to cook.

Hi Gang,
I guess I'm not to late for lunch in the Diner here. And YES, I'll have a large serving of Br. Otte's Liver & onions & bacon Scramble. I'll have Ulrich's helping as well, if he doesn't want it.
Sorry to here about your back Ulrich, but you are old enough to know when a lifting job is not going to benefit you. I'm really careful with my lifting although I still do some, but eye it up pretty well before I attemp anything. Ulrich, You went from the pervebial Frying pan into the fire. Although I guess it was more like the refrigerator into the oven. Thank goodness you did get some heat before winter sets in.
Jimmy Braun, I know what you are talking about with Comcast. My youngest Son when he was getting his Masters in Missouri had a Comcast account and was constantly having one thing or another to complain about. He was never really satisfied with any of their service compared to what he had in Washington State.
Galaxy, Great to hear from you again. It was like you had fallen off the planet or those Aliens had finally taken you. Sorry to hear all that hard work you put into your gardening didn't pay off this year. Although it is a little tough on you, I bet it feels pretty good to be back working again. I didn't realize that I am 23 years older than you come November this year. A verrrry Happy Birthday to you ahead of time.
Mr.B. It sounds like a good time if ever there is one to seel your home. I hope that goes well for you and you get your price. Even if you go to anapartment for a spell, at least start a switching layout along a wall somewhere that you can add to your future layout later.
Garry, I bet you were surprised seeing that old navy vessel coming down your lake. What a sight. Glad you dodged the bullets of those storms as well.
CN. Charlie, I used to get regular update from Cape Jim as well. But nothing at all in the last few months. Sure would like to know how he is doing, I think he had a new favorite squeeze. Glad you are starting to get some time to get those trains moving, now that the birds have flowen away.
Ken, (Cuda), Congratulations, that is great work in making those changes to your health. I would like to see you do the same with your work situation. Could you not go back and manage another Midas shop ? or would that be on you feet too much? My second youngest Son manages two Midas stores here.
Nothing new on the train front as I am kept quite busy at this time repairing an interior wall etc. in that same Son's travel trailer. Hopefully that will end before the snow flies. We will also be going to Billings in late Oct. to look after some livestock (pets) & house while the Newly Weds go on their Honeymoon. They had to cancel everything as they were to go to the Virgin Islands, not much left there now. So they are going to Hawaii instead.
Well, enough of me for now other than a big Hello to the rest of you, Today my thoughts go to Medina, Ride on Road, Terry in Texas, YGW. V8-Vega(where are you), GM. Pullman, Ray, Frank, Cajun Chef Ryan, Wisconcin Terry, and Sue. and any I have regretably missed.

I was bad last night. I ordered a and ate way to much of it! Woke up with a GL of 191! Well that was OK with me. I had some yard work to do and the boost up surgar helped! Cut down some limbs that where laying on my roof with my Chain Saw On A Stick (electric pole saw) and some where 5" thick and heavy. Got some of them cut up and by the street for pick up.

Johnboy I hated working at Midas. One of the owerners I worked for was a flat out crook! Plus at my age, I am looking to slow down. Plus even with my good A1C I have to watch my feet. Now a 15 hour a week with some lifiting for exercies would be fine.

KEN, Ken ken: I DO hope that 15-20 carbs a day IS a misprint!
I'm allowed 5-6 carbs!!
One slice of bread is one carb, for example.
Here, briefly is my general diet:
Breakfast: half cup oatmeal, one tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder, one table spoon Stevia sweetener.
5 or less hours later, a fruit. A banana, a tangerine or two, or an apple, peach, nectarines, etc.
Less than 5 hours later 1/2 a sandwich. IF, BUT IF, I want chips, I stick to a 1 oz. Mini Bag and usually won't finish it. Potatoes in any form was a favorite of mine. But now I can't stand them.
Dinner is sensible. Small meat portion, all the broccoli ( " free food"), and just 2 tablespoons of a starch.
If I want an after dinner snack it's back to fruit.
I never let more than 5 hours go by without eating something small.
That's how I went from 276 pounds down to 222 pounds in 10 months. More than 50 pounds!!!!
Next goal is 215pounds then 200. I don't doubtful can reach it.
I may cheat once a month, but that's it.
That's my general diet, it does change some, like the nights I work, I take one whole sandwich, 1 oz bag chips and a piece of fruit, and two bottles of water.
Best of luck ken!
Try my diet you'll like it!
No sugar or very little, very few carbs, more fruits and veggies.
Good Evening from Ocean City MD. In Baltimorese we are downy O-shun hon. Old time Baltimore women call everyone, older or younger, male or female hon.
The condo has an electronic numerical keypad. We unpacked and went to the ocean. My wife said the combo was 0452. I said out loud, "6 months after my birthday, I can remember that". We got back and nothing except all the numbers of the keypad would flash red and an alarm would sound. We had no shoes, no wallets and no cell phone. The condo is 70% empty.
My wife found someone who would answer the door and let her use their cell phone. The condo owner is our neighbor and his office gave us his cell phone. Turns out the combo was really 0425. Had we not got in touch with him, I had no idea what we would have done.
On the way here we took a detour in Delaware to avoid construction. Passed a CSX railyard with 3 bay window cabooses. I should have stopped to take a pic.

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
hon30critter Steven Otte liver with bacon and onions Sorry, I can't do liver! Dave
Live bacon and onions is delicious!
If you've never had it, you don't know what you are missing.
If all you've had was shoe leather liver, it was over cooked. Not at all bad when you have it cooked right hand tender.
And who doesn't love bacon?
Onions, well it's a mystery to me why people don't like onions.
So the three...oddly enough topped with a couple dollops of sour cream, is positively delicious!
Yummy, thanks Mr. OTTE.
Evenin' everyone!
Janie, just a refil for my decaf right now... I have had enough carbs for today.....
I think that Ken and G are talking about two different things. I would guess that one is counting "Exchanges" which are 15 grams of carbohydrate, and the other is talking about grams of Carbohydrate. For instance, one slice of bread usually equals 15 grams of carbohydrate or 1 exchange (or serving of carbohydrates). Therein may be the misunderstanding of what they are talking about. Apples and Oranges (both are 1 exchange if they are small), not to be confused with Apples and PC's, which is something totally irrelavent to whatever we are talking about here... Ken is saying he is only eating one to 1.25 "exchanges" of Carbs a day which is very, very low. I try to average 3 exchanges per meal which is about 45 grams of carbohydrates each meal. That is normal for most people on Diabetic diets. From what he has descibed as his diet, there is no way he is consuming 15 to 20 "exchanges" of carbs each day..... That would be between 250 and 300 grams of carbohydrate a day. Even that is not outrageous for a non-diabetic but sure wouldn't happen on what Ken says he is eating......... I consume about 135 to 150 grams a day....
The Finger Lakes Railway had a couple cars derail downtown in Geneva today. Happened right in what is left of the Geneva Yard near what used to be the Geneva Station way back when. Gent across the street saw it earlier and stopped over to see I wanted to go down to see what was going on. I figured railroad crews always need some gawlkers hanging around to keep the police active at the site of something like that, so we popped in the Volt and went down to see it. They have just finished rerailing the three cars they derailed, and were about to head out for the day when we arrived. We yakked with the two employees for a few minutes and headed back home. Nothing really big, but the guy incharge said it was not going to be a small bill by the time it was all done.... Track needs some work where they derailed. Could have been a whole lot worse!
I started staining the deck today. Will probably be three afternoons of work to complete. Have two Scouts that want to complete Music Merit Badge with me. One of them might be interested in Railroading MB as well. I will talk to the troop to see if they might want to have a weekend campout at the museum and do the MB out there...

Hmm....im first in....
Gotta, work 8-4 today. Day shift is easier than night shift. I'd have day shifts but only get one. I think yall know im a morning person. 4- midnight gets tough on me.
RAY: I hope you are right! Still only one or 1 1/2 carbs EXCHSNGES can be a little low. He needs to be careful not to have his sugar bottom out. I used to have THAT problem, and would wake up on the floor. Having passed out from low sugar.
Well, time for oatmeal and shower.
Good Afternoon!
It´s not a good day for me. My BP went into the basement and refuses to come up again. At 100/50, it is way too low and I feel light-headed, with my vision impaired. I see a trip to the ER coming up again.
Sorry for not having anything positive to report.
The sun is coming out, for the first time in a week. Hurricane Jose, the storm that really wasn't, hung around off the coast and gave us a week of clouds, rain and humidity.
My blood pressure has been too high. It was fine until a couple of months ago. My doctor and I both attribute it to stress. We tried adding Norvasc to my regimen of Old Man Pills, but the side effects were pretty dismal so he took me off of it. We're going to see how I am after the divorce.
MisterBeasley. . .My doctor and I both attribute it to stress. . .
You need to spend more time on the bike!
True cycling weather has arrived in the Valley of the Sun. The early morning temperature was 59F, a bit chilly for me, so I waited until 8:00 to go out when it had warmed up to 68F. It was a great ride--20 miles of recovery after 35 hard miles yesterday. We are getting close to the time of the year that justifies putting up with the summer heat.

Afternoon Diners,
I worked on my layout again. Unfortunately I ran out of cork road bed. Apparently I needed 4 boxes instead of 3. So I went back to Walthers to buy 1 3 foot section only so the total cost as $13.
Layout construction has stopped. Plus I ran out of super glue. The caulk dry to fast placing it on the foam. For placing CA thru the sides and middle for a strong hold and connection.
Next week if it comes in lay more cork and than add the clay. Making the desert scenery and bridge position.
Good evening everybody.
Busy day here. So I'll hae an RBF for now
Eveing Diners
Flo, Ed, Gary, Inch, Galaxy, Ulrich, Brent, Jan and I will have a cold please.
Galaxy Ray is correct, I am counting the carbs them self. All so I said during the day meaning while I am at work. Today I had a sasuge for 7 grams, 3 chicken tenders for 14 grams and 1/2 can of spinach that is 6 grams. So at work today I have had apx 27 grams. Dinner is a driffrent story. From my guessing/carb counting I am taking in around 90 to 108 carbs a day. I have tried fruits, GL sky rockets to 190 range for 1/2 a apple. Oat meal? Went from 114 when I got up to 238 after 2 hours?
Work Front Rant I had a appointment to see the Diabetic Managment Clinc this coming Wednesday. While my A1C test is good at 5.5 I still feel something is not right! Cannot eat 20 carbs in one sitting? Well the Company Hire A new Sales Person and he needs Wednesday off! So, guess I don't get to go and I am Ash Pit Off about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. May say rail spike this and just not show up!
Evening,all.
Saw a bunch of old-timers checked in so I thought I would, too.
I'm good, wife's good, kids and grandkids are also good.
Went downstairs to run trains in I bet 6 months. Turned on the Digitrax, and away we went!No problems that weren't self inflicted! Ha! Gotta give credit to Jeff for turning me on to the Gleam system!!
Also kinda straightened up the workbench. I have 36 Kadee metal wheelsets and 22 or so Kadee clone couplers. And 3 -1/2 kadee sprung trucks. I won't use them as I like Intermountain wheelsets and the real Kadee couplers. Nothing wrong with them. Came off train show buys. If anybody wants them or can put them to use, shoot me a PM and I'll send them out. Free. I'll even spring for postage. So , you know, FREE!!
That's about all for now!

I don’t know how the weather was today where you folks live, but it was hot here. It reached 89 degrees, but at least the humidity was low. Being Saturday, we went railfanning and I think the heat got to both my wife and myself. When we got home neither one of us felt very good.
Railfanning today was pretty good with 13 trains in 4 hours.
1 denatured alcohol
1 trash train
7 intermodals
3 mixed freights
1 grain train
We didn’t see anything really special, but did catch 2 Union Pacifics as foreign power.
We bought a Buick Encore a couple of months ago, and when we went to Berea, Ohio this past Wednesday was the first time we really took a trip in it. I was pleased with the handling & ride, both much better than I expected them to be. Gas mileage was okay with an average of about 34 mpg. The big surprise for me was the engine performance. On the interstate or turnpike I usually set the cruise control to about 5 miles over the speed limit. Once in awhile though, because of traffic, I’ll speed up to get around a truck or whatever. This car has a turbo charger & I discovered it doesn’t take much pedal to end up going 80 mph +, and it doesn’t sound or feel like it. That’s way too fast for me, so I need to be more attentive in those situations. I’ll be 77 in October & I know my reflexes & reaction times are not what they once were.
Hoping everyone has a nice weekend. Stay safe & enjoy...

Evenin' folks!
Janie, a cup of decaf would sit well at the moment...
Got most of the fiddly work done staining the deck. The fiddly work is doing all the railings on the deck. I can probably do the deck itself in 15 minutes once I get that started (tomorrow afternoon, I hope). I will have some touch up places to do either late in the day tomorrow or Monday. It will be good to get this PITA finished for a few years. The stuff I'm using should be good for about 6 years. By the time it should be done again I will probably hire someone to do it... Getting to that age.

Uh, did you mean to say "Liver bacon and onions is delicious...". I'll pass on the 'live bacon'!
Seriously, it's not the taste I object to. I like it. Problem is that it doesn't like me, AT ALL!!! If I have it, before the meal is done I will be pooping through the eye of a needle at 50 ft.! It's thinner than the stuff that 'live bacon' puts out! Same thing with bay leaves. Great flavour, nasty reaction!
Too much information eh? Enough of my inner details.
Good morning !.... Wake up, everybody! ... It's another beautiful day ! ... Cheers ! .... Rise and Shine !

Garry- My railroading process has stopped until my order cork comes in. I well continue in about two weeks time. So now nothing new. I did find a piece of MDF board 13x4- I would need to cut it to 37 inch.
I received a CB&Q DS boxcar for the late 40s steam era. Unfortunately the boxcar was updated in 1950, which is okay by me I'll place the timeline in 1948-1950 or 1951. These we're retired before or on 1953.
